I was added to a team in Microsoft Teams... and I know nothing about it.

  • If you're guilty of creating teams in Teams and adding members with no explanation, it's about time you added an 'About the team' page.

In the first minutes of the video, when you started saying what this change in Teams is about, I thought it would be just simple changes. However, it seems like a mini site within Teams! 😂
And you explained to us with great quality, as always, using real examples as they are supposed to be (I wish other channels followed your way on how to give practical examples in their videos...). Congrats and thanks again, Darrell! You are awesome!

Always encouraging to read your comments. I think my next video will be ‘how to create an About the team page template.’

Darrell, I think it's a great tip to let people know what a (T)eam is about before inviting members, but it also feels like a lot of work to do upfront. Sometimes we just need to spin up a Team really quickly and add members so we can start collaboration on stuff right away. T'b cool if there was like a form one could fill in that kicked off a Power Automate flow that creates the about page for you. Hmmm think I need to look into that.

You’re right Matt. There are times when we need to get collaboration going quickly and create a team. I think it’s still important to at least send a message through to people who will be team members, telling them they will be added to a team, the purpose for the team and their role. Even better, create the team during a meeting. Discuss how we will use the team, the channels, communication and collaboration norms. Or ahead of a project kick off, create the team, set it up but don’t invite people yet. During the kick off meeting, invite the team members, then discuss how the team will be used. You’ve given me an idea for a follow up video 🙌
