  • Microsoft Loop is becoming a versatile place for managing team tasks and working on related deliverables. The Task List component now looks more like the Table component. Which should you use and when?
    I review and compare both after recent changes to the components.

    Interesting overview Darrell. I think highlighting the inconsistency in Planner in Teams with Loop is an interesting point. Rapid development is both a blessing and a curse, but many users are far more annoyed by inconsistencies and roadblocks than they are excited by the constant stream of new features. Hopefully the balance is right!

      Thanks Nick. I think some new features start our as inconsistencies because they lay the foundation for a future, larger feature. That future feature brings it back into alignment. Take the this new Task List table. It's now consistent / more aligned with the standard Table component. It's table looks the same. Sure, it's missing a few features that Tables have. But that's because it syncs with Planner and To Do.
      "Balance" is sometimes the next step on that feature's roadmap. But it has to start with a foundation.

    This is a great video. How did you add the Bucket to your table? I would like my items to show up in To Do. Thanks

    • @DarrellaaS
      @DarrellaaS  16 дней назад

      Thanks, Beth. To get buckets to show I have to use a Label column type. Then assign some of the items in the table with the label. You can change the view from Table to Board using the icon on the top left corner of the component.
      But if you want items to show up in To Do, you must use the task list component. Items that are assigned to you or show up in your assigned to me view in To Do.

      @@DarrellaaS Thanks for the quick response. My issue with using the Task board, is we can't add a column to show status or priority. Any idea on how to get around this issue?

    I haven't been able to get task rules to work yet. Do you have any resources for me to check?

      Hi Leiter. This post is a good resource. insider.microsoft365.com/en-us/blog/streamline-your-workflow-with-automation-in-microsoft-loop
      You will also need a Power Automate license.

    Thank You for this. It is very helpfull. I’m wondering if i want to manage project in Loop, where should be communication? Using comments in Loop or should I create a Team’s group in Tems first and add there a Loop?

    • @DarrellaaS
      @DarrellaaS  2 месяца назад

      I think if you are discussing the content that is part of a Loop page, you can use comments in the page. But if you want to discuss part of the page with more members of your team, you can select the content and share it in a Teams chat/post as a Loop component. Or share the component in an email
      I think most people will still use Teams for conversations. The great thing is you can figure out what works best for your team.

    Thanks for your many presentations, they are extremely helpful. I'm a technology trainer at the University of Tennessee. One of my many responsibilities is to create training videos about different applications. I noticed in today's video your headshot had a very nice frame and it moved as to not cover up parts of the screen you were talking about. Would you mind sharing the application you use to make that happen? Thanks again for all your help and amazing training. ~steve

      Hi Steve. I use Camtasia for most of my videos that involve demos of software. I recorded my camera feed separately. I use the Mask visual effect on my video feed. I use the Custom animation option for most of my movement.
      Glad you liked the effect 😄

    Looks like this will replace onenote. I have microsoft365 family version and it does not seems to integrated with To Do or Planner. Is the integration going to work only with work or school account? I would love to see the tasks I created in Loop to show up in Microsoft To Do. Appreciate your advise

      Hi Amir. Planner isn’t available for M365 for family. The task list component only syncs with Planner and If you are assigned a task in the plan, you see it in To Do > Assigned to me.
      For personal m365 subscriptions, Loop Task Lists can be viewed in the Kanban board view.

    When will we be able to share Loop workspaces, pages and components with external users or guests?
    I work with external vendors and this will not work for my collaboration. Maybe I am just doing something wrong.

      We were expecting ‘sharing with guests’ to start rolling out in late April. This was announced in a 365 Message Center message, which i covered on @365mcs ruclips.net/video/SgevbITGXAs/видео.html&si=ChAWV31YxgtMjPdc.
      But the message appears to have been removed from the Message Center.

    nice video! Is there a way to see who created a task? I mean, besides from the email with the notification...

    • @DarrellaaS
      @DarrellaaS  Месяц назад +1

      The Loop app has an area for notifications. Check under the notification bell for task assignments. You can also click your cursor on the name of the task and see who edited / created it, using the attribution pop-up.

      @@DarrellaaS thanks. yes, I can see the notifications, but when I click on the name of the task, the pop up window does not show the creator... maybe this is something that my company has disabled?
