    Thanks Benno. Great example of how to do this task. This was not as hard as other folks had made it seem. I would give this a 1.5 - 2 beards on the Beard Scale of Difficulty. Now my 2015 XG500 has a permeant Quick disconnect for topping her battery off. I stow the cable behind the coolant access panel when not in use. Much appreciation for all your efforts in making this handy video!

    Jut got a new to me xg500, second ride with it and the battery died. First thing I did was RUclips a solution. Wound up here, and wow what an incredibly stupid place to put a battery. Thank-you for your video though, it explained exactly what to do, the framing was stable and in focus. There are too many people that want to put up 'how to' videos on YT and just film it freehand with an iphone. Usually with horrible results.

      Thank you for the comment. It is really a woeful design and did my head the first time. filmed part of this on a gopro 3+ and the rest on an iphone. the horrible tutorials are what prompted me to do this one. Happy it has been a help. Benno

    How would I hit the battery with a jumpbox? Is there somewhere besides the actual positive terminal on a 500 to do so? I can't figure it out. I've seen it on RUclips before.

    • @BennosShed

      Possibly attach to the + terminal on the starter motor and - to the frame somewhere. Not sure if it is accessible though, dont have this bike now so cant check. Best bet would be to attach an extension for a trickle charger to the battery. Cheers Greg

    Call me dumb but how the hell do you get the passenger strap off? It seems linked under the seat. Unless you unscrew it under near the tire. I just don't want to unscrew something I don't need to.
    If you can help thanks.

    • @BennosShed
      @BennosShed  5 лет назад +1

      you will need to push the strap forward along the seat, compressing the seat foam, while pulling the seat rearward until the locating tongue comes free. Quite a bit of force is required. It is a pain in the arse and why I never reused the strap. The strap is bolted to the sub frame under the seat and is only accessible once the seat has been removed. Hope this helps. Benno

    My battery is completely dead is there a way I can just add a trickle charger and if so where would I get one that would be best fit for the motorcycle

    • @BennosShed
      @BennosShed  5 лет назад +1

      Tyler, you will have to remove the battery as shown to add a trickle charge lead to the posative and negative of the battery. (available from HD or there are aftermarket items available on line) You will also need to fully recharge your battery prior to refitment. If recharging fails you will need repace your battery with a new one. Hope this helps. Benno

    Mate any idea where I’d find the Hd standard alarm battery?

    • @BennosShed
      @BennosShed  Год назад

      on later models it is an integral part of the BCM. to disable the alarm turn the IGN key to the run position and disconnect the battery. This will stop the alarm from going off when the batt is disconnected.
