  • In answer to several comments from the review of my new Emerald X20 carbon fiber guitar, I have compared the sound of the guitar using a Lavalier Mic, compared to the sound using a Zoom H4n Pro portable recorder. I think the Lavalier Mic sound is fuller... what do you think ?

I used a Zoom H4n Pro recorder. I apologize for making the mistake and confusing it with an H2n.

Enjoyed the first mic option. The Zoom made me notice clashing overtones and shimmering highs that didn't please me as much. Man, you're a sharp player. Enjoying some of your videos now and really appreciate the uploads on the Emerald. I'm intrigued on the X20 Nylon, but I worry very much about the tone being thin and displeasing. I want indestructible carbon fiber, but the thin and piercing tone is what deters me from completing a purchase. I need to see the X20 Nylon in person, or see a proper video by a true classical guitarist perform on one! If you get your hands on the X20 Nylon, I'll be awaiting a video upload in the coming years.

Thanks for watching. I wasn't pleased with my Zoom recording. I'm a newbie at it. Hopefully I'll get better. I have noticed that the X20 is so balanced that the mid-range overpowers some of the high's and low's, but I do so enjoy it played acoustically. The sound that projects up from the sound hole is full and lush. Unfortunately putting a mic out front loses some of the richness.

Love your professional videos of the Emerald X20. The sound quality is great and accurately shows the way the guitar sounds. I have an Emerald X30 and I absolutely love it.

Thanks Charles. I haven't yet had the pleasure of playing an X30, but I look forward to it. Good to hear that you're enjoying yours.
