The Guitar Army ! Some of the baddest shredding you've ever heard and just All around some of the finest Southern RNR Ever !
Southern rock at its best
My introduction to this band was when they opened for The Charlie Daniels Band while promoting this album. I'd never heard of them before that night, but by the next afternoon I owned all three of the albums that they had released before I knew of them. The only word I've ever found appropriate in describing their guitar(s) sound is, Relentless.
I saw them
W Charlie & Marshal Tucker
There were 3 guitarists in the Outlaws. They were known as Florida's guitar Army
After Henry Paul left this band and formed the Henry Paul band, my brother was in that band and he sent me a backstage past to see these guys in Albany NY. And it was beyond luck that I got the pass because it was prior to cell phone and computer days but I got to meet the band except for Billy Jones which was a big disappointment. I believe it was 1978. I was standing in line to get in and I heard my name being put on the guest list for backstage by
a photographer friend of my brother. real fun night I must say!
Southern Rock
I was so glad to see you react to this song. I knew you would enjoy it. Great reaction as always.
I enjoyed that reaction! Got to let it all hang out ever now and then! ! ! Great song if there ever was one ! ! !
Welcome to the world of (Southern Rock) my friend! You put this song on as you leave the house, by the time you get to the end of the song, you have the gas pedal matted to the floor! 🤣
I learned to play guitar 🎸 by ear on this stuff! The ol play and rewind technique! (Before YT) 😉 When combined, the Les Paul's and the Marshall's have that distinctive booty (low end grunt) as I call it!?
This is where blues, rock, and country collided💥 some classical as well!
Honorable mentions:
Left turn on a Red light (Blackfoot)
Dreams (Molly Hatchet)
Allman brothers
And of course the mighty (Lynyrd Skynyrd)
Blessings 🙏
Live… yeah.. as good as it gets.
A couple of other guitar players to check out, BB King and Gary Moore.
That is a classic !
Another convert. 🎸🎸🎸🙂
couple more things - the outlaws were an unofficial name for country musicians who left Nashville and went to Texas, mostly, to create more country/western sounds. Notably Willy Nelson and Waylon Jennings (and the boys....). They played electric too but was more country and swing. Just in case you had heard the term 'the outlaws' regarding music, but maybe it wasn't THIS The Outlaws.
Knoxville Girl is another nice song from The Outlaws - more country twang with sweet guitar riffs.
Can't go wrong with 3 guitars now can we..
bluegrass rock
The Outlaaaawwws!! Whoooeeee! GGAHTF! yep Southern Rock - The Allman Bros, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Outlaws and many many others. The Outlaws were my fave. Listening to Green Grass (the 17 minute live version) in a beer hall in college on Wednesday nights. 3 guitarists - 2 of them lead. Hughey Thomasson (on Strat) and Billy Jones (on Les Paul). I think they had 2 drummers as well?
Florida hatched many of these bands, guitar armies, who played looong extended leads.
Green Grass was The Outlaws 'answer'? to Skynyrds 'Freebird'. Allman Bros had a number of very long guitar jam songs too. maybe Whipping Post would be a good one to listen to.
It's Southern Rock.
This poor guy must really be in a slump to be doing this bologna
