srv was able to reconnect with his angel spirit in his flesh ... he is under full "possession"/connection too (you gotta ask for "holy spirit " connection too our creator (master) Jehovah' "holy spirit"... its willed connection/"possession" ... its amazing ... well srv is under holy spirit connection and is "in tune" with nature like a tuning fork so hes become a maestro of harmonics/"music" ...
You went from never having heard of Stevie Ray to never being able to forget him
Awesome way to say it !
He TOOK THE RIDE!
Happens to us all
Happened to me 30 years ago and I'm still here...
40 years ago and yeah you never forget seein Stevie live !!!
It still brings tears to my eyes knowing that we lost Stevie way too soon. He was blessed with a gift that most will never attain. RIP, Stevie.
Check out Ren Gill, from Wales via Brighton, UK.
@@NunYaO There are many good guitarists who have come, are still around, or have gone.... Gary Moore, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, etc. They all had their own styles.
Ren isn't doing anything that hasn't been done before, and better. He's actually somewhat boring and mediocre.
Yes having lived in Austin during his heyday, I got to see him play live many times .
I also got to see all the greats that came through town .
And I can say that no one ever came close to doing what Stevie Ray did on guitar.
He was simply the best bar none.
Amen!
No one has or will be able to fill his shoes. Truly one of a kind. SRV are Hendrix are the two that can’t be topped.
This is my first time to your channel. I stayed to watch you get baptized with an SRV Texas Flood. So much more to this man. He was a kind and humble soul who said that his talent was a gift from God that he worked hard to pay back.
Paid in full, Stevie. Paid In Full.
Same here
💙💙💙💙💙
Well said.
Same! Watching SRV reactions, 40 yrs after i fell in love, is a true joy, right in the heart. A montage of reactions to this one performance would be a blast.
Same here, first time. Thanks!
Eric Clapton said "Stevie was a channel... he never ran out of ideas, never lost his place... it just flowed through him."
And that Stevie never got stuck, like Clapton explained how he would get stuck as others often did. I found that quote telling.
Stevie is the GOAT. Everything from that "El Mocambo" concert is incredible. As well as his stuff from "Austin City limits" and his playing with Jonny Copeland.
Totally agree. The live at El Mocambo is one of the best live performances ever recorded bar none. He was on fire as was the band and it captured an amazing musical moment in time. Man, I wish I could've been there in person. Brilliant.
@@jdbroders64I was there, and the whole show was phenomenal. RIP SRV
I was. Epic.@@jdbroders64
No matter how many times I have heard both performances, still give me goosebumps every single time.
El Mocambo man....fricken amazing. Spadina. My brother was a guitarist (he's passed now) but he LOVED Stevie and cried all day playing his guit when Stevie went home.
He wasn't possessed by the guitar gods he WAS a guitar god.
Raise your hand if you were saying “just wait!”
First time on your channel sir. This was terrific. Thank you.
That man isnt playin that guitar. That guitar is playin him.
The most gifted most badass guitar player earth has ever known
They were one; the Guitar was an extension of himself
Stevie’s sense of rhythm was just unbelievable, Every riff comes out perfectly
Every note, he makes you hear every note, and when he really likes the note he drags it out for 30 seconds while your spine tingles.
Imagine how strong Stevie's fingers were to warp the strings the way he did, because he used the 2nd heaviest strings available.
It’s nuts, even tuned to E flat.
I think that’s what makes what Stevie did even more impressive…. Like for the life of me I can’t understand how he’s able to do his massive bends, his runs, his whole playing as fast and precise as he does…… He had biceps in his fingers…
Stevie is considered the Greatest Blues Guitar Player of all time. He also plays classical guitar, on a few of his recordings.
You're one of the few who knows that...
Playing an acoustic guitar is not the same as playing classical. What classical composers did he play?
@@stevenmeyer9674 Stevie played Roll Over With Beethoven. See? That's classical music. Right? HA, HA, HA....
ruclips.net/video/FNesXRao-AQ/видео.html
Classical guitar has nothing to do with what you might think are classical composers.
@@nancybrewer8494 And playing acoustic with metal stings. is not the same as playing a classical guitar with nylon strings, would you agree?
"There's just 3 people...."
Emerson Lake and Palmer: "Hold our beers 🍺🍻"
😁
If you want to see more incredible guitar work, check out the video of Stevie Ray Vaughn and his older brother Jimmy (of The Fabulous Thunderbirds) playing the 1963 instrumental PIPELINE at the same time...on the same double-necked guitar. Epic.
He didn’t play guitar, he lived guitar.
What's perhaps most impressive is that most guitarists would break their fingers trying to play that guitar. Stevie got that "thick" sound by using VERY thick strings. Watching him bend those notes, just mashing those strings across the neck with ease... is kind of amazing.
Yep. The high E string was .013, low E .060. Very difficult to play ANYTHING on such a heavy string set, let alone what Stevie is doing.
He spent his spare time piching gravel into dust with those damn fingers. My tips bleed just thinking about it
That was sort of callous. 😊 SRV is a phenomenon.
@@ryanr5319Callous? It was blistering 😂
@@daveman_50he used a custom set with a G string that was much lighter. I use 11-54 but just recently learned that his G was much lighter than mine, even though the E strings were bigger.
I saw one of his last concerts a few days before the crash. So grateful for that experience.
i thought that was you at that show.
I was at Alpine Valley the show before his last. I found the cd recorded from the soundboard
Stevie Ray Vaughan is the GOAT of Blues guitarists. He could channel most every Blues guitarists, including Hendrix, BB King, and others.
U JUST WITNESSED THE GREATEST MUSICAL PERFORMANCE IN THE HISTORY OF MUSIC. SRV IS THE ONLY HUMAN BEING TO MAKE A GUITAR SMOKE A CIGARETTE AFTER HE FINISHES PLAYING IT.
Haha yeah exactly
🤣😂👌👌👌👌
this internet troll prolly stole the genius line "his guitar smoke a cigarette" from another troll that stole it from a troll doing amateur video maker "reaction videos" to other peoples amateur videos ...
He is the G.O.A.T.. Even before playing behind his back he very rarely even looks at where his fingers are on the fret board. He knows every inch of that land.
Your reaction was spot on.
He was born in Dallas Texas and started playing night clubs when he was 14. His brother Jimmy Vaughn is also a great guitarist.
As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
I saw Stevie and Jimmie at KC in 87-88 area at Memorial Auditorium. Not looking at fingers is a lesson for every profession. Don't look... feel and do. Sight is a crutch
SRV was an amazing gift for the short time we had his genius and virtuosity. He was channeling something beautiful and single-handedly revitalized blues/rock during a time when I can remember it was said that the genre was dead. RIP brother Stevie. You are missed.
It was almost dead, except in Austin and a couple other places where the old blues masters were welcomed, and younger white kids tried to keep it going. It was considered old folks’ music, like big band swing and early rock & roll.
Well said, man!
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 The goatiest goat in all of goatness
**Life Without You at Capitol Theater**
**Voodoo Child at Austin City Limits 1989**
Stevie Ray was more than capable of playing an acoustic guitar, he did a performance on MTV unplugged on six and 12 string guitar .
he used acoustic strings on his electric guitars ...
If you search RUclips you can find a recording of him playing a beat up acoustic guitar for an interview in Europe.
Stevie makes it sound like a dream.
I visited his statue in Austin, Texas recently and felt his spirit nearby. My twin boys took me. I am 82 and a big fan. 💯❤️🌹🙏
The second I saw this video in my feed, I stopped everything I was doing to come watch. You got it exactly right, its like he's possessed by the guitar gods; I feel the same. Thank you for this one, and thanks to whomever recommended it! 🙏🏻 🔥
I did the same thing
Amen.
Only he could make a guitar run it's mouth like that.
My absolute favorite guitarist!!! Number one!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
I've never seen someone whose guitar, mind, body and soul all seemed one living thing.
He's the reason I started listening to blues... He's version of Little Wing in beautiful!
Texas Flood was written in 1958. It was around three minutes long. The rest is Stevie Ray’s improvisation.
There is a whole concert on RUclips of Stevie Ray playing various acoustic guitars called MTv Unplugged -Stevie Ray Vaughan.
You can take every blues player since the beginning of time, put them all together and Stevie would take them to school. His channel was never ending. He had a gift the other blues players didn’t have. Ask Eric Clapton.
It is so much fun watching someone losing their Vaughanginity! Welcome to the family!
I feel like a cat with 10 lives for having seen him in all his glory in about 1988. His brother's band opened up. Truly unforgettable night.
I managed a music hall in the early 80s and had Stevie Ray twice. I’ve seen them all and he was the best ever. I took him some George Dickle and he said sit down here with me and have a drink. So I proceeded to pour us shots and he played that guitar unplugged for about 20 minutes. Man what a blessing. Humble nice guy and so talented that the music just flowed out of him. Tremendous concert!
Right. Then you woke up.
May god rest SRV in peace. I was in Corpus Christi, TX the day he died in an aviation accident. I will NEVER forget that day.
Stevie was an open conduit. Music flowed from his hands like water
Simply said, he is the GOAT. SRV and his guitars were one.
He is at one with his guitar, like nobody I have ever seen or heard.
There are Many awesome guitar players, But Stevie Ray is the GOAT in my book anyway, I enjoyed your reaction to this, God Bless
I always struggle with Stevie and Hendrix as the goat...SRV mastered Jimmy's style but Jimmy was a pioneer,SRV had almost 10yrs more life to perfect his playing, what would we have seen of Jimmy with more years under his belt perfecting his craft??😒 BUT Stevie Ray's unrelenting flow pushes him over the top imo 🤙
@@fukkar4545 Jimmy would be 81 years old today if he had lived, today is his Birthday from what I understand, He was Awesome, I had his music among the music I listen to since my youth, when it was all coming out back in the day, and still listen too today. God Bless.
First time I had seen Stevie was Austin City Limits TV show. I was blown away and went out and got myself a guitar even knowing that I would never be that good.
A classically trained musician can truly appreciate the nuances employed.
SRV is the GOAT.
I saw him twice in the 80's and I was speechless 😅
i thought that was you at both shows
As an old rocker now, I still feel privileged to have seen them 'live' back in the day. A sensational show.
An absolutely "Legendary" performance by SRV R.I.P. SRV
It's a term used way too often these days but Stevie truly is the GOAT!
I love people's reactions to Stevie. Especially those in the music world who can play. I heard a quote from Jimmy Vaughan years ago about Stevie. "Ya know he couldn't read music at all, and for him it was just another chance to play on stage". This is just how good the man was. It was just another gig for him and this is what Everyone got, Everywhere he went.
Stevie Ray was the real deal, He came onto the music seem with a thunderous slap of bluesy rock that was so needed. He was and still is considered one of the best. Heaven has a hell of a band up there with Stevie Ray
No separation between Stevie and the guitar. They are one.
A Texas Hero and Legend....may he rest in peace...
The Man. The Legend.
You should do yourself a favor and watch everything out there that Stevie Ray ever did. He freestyled every performance and never played a song the same way twice. He idolized Jimi Hendrix, and he actually performed Voodoo Child many times, using Jimi's actual wah wah pedal that was gifted to him. Every performance is different, yet mind blowing. He played with the Blues greats such as BB King and Johnny Copeland. He didn't know how to read music, and many critics love to trash him because of that. They will deliberately leave his name out of their Best lists and use his unique style against him. It was common knowledge back in the day, that he would play until his fingertips were calloused and when they fell off, he'd Super Glue em back on and keep on playing. He also played with his teeth. Actually lost a tooth doing it on Life Without You. He just keeps on playing and singing as he casually looks around the stage for his tooth. He is a demi god here in Texas, and we have a statue of him in Austin. RIP Stevie Ray 💔🕊🎸🤠🥳
It's soooo much fun watching people go holy shit this guy is possessed....and then he goes behind his back.
So glad I stumbled upon your first SRV experience. We lost a piece of humanity when we lost him, the goat.
Stevie has excellent smooth jazz chops on guitar too. Check out 'Riviera Paradise' from the Austin City Limits show.
Mentioned that too
Yeah it’s amazing! I got to see Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton in Cincinnati Ohio shortly before he passed away. One of a kind true icon musical genius and a lot of cocaine and you get some, once in a lifetime playing like that!
Best slow blues instrumental/song every recorded - JMO
God created blues guitar because he knew Stevie Ray would be coming along one day.
A beast of a guitarist. No one can play like Stevie.
Thank you brother. And this was a really fun reaction. I'm a lifetime musician myself, but I really enjoyed the dynamic of you being a classical guitar player and just glimpsing what this guy was all about. I was lucky enough to see him three times before he died in the helicopter crash.
Down to earth, mind-blowing, self-effacing, humble, but a total badass. I'm so glad you shouted out the rest of the trio because his Double Trouble Man was not only fantastic at holding down the beat while he did all this crazy stuff, they were friends and they were super tight and you can hear it.
I really loved the reaction.
Stevie is one of those performers who is hard to digest in one huge dose. I stop the video midway to rest.
I used to think there was another guitarist playing in addition to the drums and base. It was only him! Unbelievable but when one watches him it is undeniable! He is fun to watch in every video he does! He loved Hendrix and does justice to him.
The GOAT
Hence the word " POWER TRIO"
That smile on your face stayed there for the entire video. Guitarists know
I'm from the Dallas as was Stevie Ray. I had the pleasure of seeing him in Dallas as well as Austin. I lived in Austin from the late '60s' to mid/late '70's. And saw him a number of times. Those concerts could get rowdy. I loved it all.
When I saw Stevie when he was a nobody I knew he was going to he a smash some day. And he was. I was stunned to hear of his death. I actually cried when I heard of his death and was in a funk for quite a while. I was almost as heartbroken for his death as I was of Jimi's
Great musician who always worked his ass off. And he used 13 gauge strings on his Stratocaster. There're usually used on an acoustic Dreadnaught for flat picking. I put 13 gauge strings on my Les Paul just to try it out. After a few minutes my fingers were killing me. And it was off with the 13's and back to the 9's.
That he could make those amazing bends with those heavy strings was awesome.
Well, guess that's it for me.
RIP, Stevie Ray and Jimi. I'd like to think they're together and playing things we've never heard of and thought were impossible.
Was at the Rome Inn the night Stevie got married between sets. Rowdy, yeah, lol.
I wasn't there but thanks for that story.@@hpb5495
There never has been anyone like Stevie Ray Vaughn. He took the same salary per gig as the other band members.
So true, a conduit for music. Just comes out. Tasty as all get out. Ty for reaction! He was one of a kind. I mean, my god, his phrasing is unbelievable. Similar to Knopfler in the phrasing respect. Never lost on where to go, he can make it do whatever he wants. 😂
I'v probably seen 50 people react to this. A first time reaction to SRV is particularly interesting, even more so when the reactor is a musician. I'd seen SRV play live, only once, and it was literally a jaw dropping performance. Here, a classical guitarist being blown away by SRV, and i'm not really even surprised.
Yessir. You just witnessed the divine.
SRV doing Rivera Paradise live from Austin City Limits is a must watch.
SRV, makes everyone else look like beginners. No debate the GOAT..!!
SRV was bad-ass! I witnessed two of his performances in Austin Texas when I lived there. He brought down the house. We all lost him too soon.
🎸💯 That's those Texas blues y'all‼🔥
🤯 SRV called his guitar "The One"‼🐐
RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan. ❤ 🕊 🙏
I'm so glad your channel caught my eye! Anybody checking SRV out gets my attention! Thanks! ☮ ❤ 🎶
This guy can make the guitar scream so intensely you are holding onto your chair, then in the next moment he's playing so softly you can hear the amp humming in the background.
Finest use of a guitar I have heard in my 59 years.
I was a 17 year old teenager from Buffalo NY at that show in Toronto.
A life long fan ever since.
It always seemed to me like he never really "played" the guitar but he just let the music inside him flow from his soul through his fingers to the strings and out the amps. RIP SRV
Stevie sang through his guitar better than anyone.
Except for Roy Buchanan that is.
@@stevenmeyer9674 Roy was good, as were a few others like Gary Moore.
@@JohnWarner-lu8rq I agree. There are so many great players, it's hard to pick one as being the best. I may get blasted here, but i always thought Hendrix was vastly overrated, and at times was a hot mess.
@@stevenmeyer9674 I saw Jimi twice, and I agree with you. Sadly, he died before he could calm down, get off drugs, and truly develop the skills he had. Zappa is one of my faves, and is underrated by so many people, but he was/is an acquired taste.
I'm always amazed and proud to see people's reaction to this video, people are in shock to see such a powerful and delicate piece of showmanship, thier mouths drop open and eyes get big and the song just started, and I always think "wait til he plays behind his back"! then it happens and some reactors have to stop the video and think about WTF is goin on? The talent is staggering, then I read comments like "he's very repetitive" and " he steals Albert King licks" the repetitive comment is silly in the blues world and Albert King was one of Stevies biggest idols and it shows, but Stevie added the fire and his own style, even covering Hendrix he puts his own stamp on it and kills it! Sometimes I wonder if critics have ever watched Stevies live performances? or ever tried playing an electric guitar ar all? ( especially with the monster gauge strings Stevie used) One of the very best ever to pick up a guitar! Stevie Ray Vaughan and the Fender Stratocaster since 1954!
Glad to see folks listen to SRV and know he was gifted, like gary moore etc.Conneced to guitar
Your reaction is one of the better ones I've seen. Where English is not your first language, you described him perfectly! Powerful and passionate, possessed by the guitar god's! I love to see people appreciating SRV. He was in a class by himself. 👍👍
I think the legend behind Lenny was, he woke up one morning and as he rolled out of bed he started playing what he had dreamed and out came Lenny
SRV, the best of the best who played with a certian passon that will never be duplicated again
This El Mocambo show in Toronto was amazing. Ive had the dvd for years!
Jone, would you ever be that "naughty" to your classical guitar? (I hope not!)
A diesel train, a Rolls Royce Merlin V12 and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Unmistakable sounds.
I love how everyone responds in exactly the same way when he starts playing behind his back.
Not fair
Nice reaction! I hate I never got to see him live! RIP Stevie🙏🏼
STEVIE STILL IS THE BEST GUITAR PLAYER ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET❤❤❤❤ AND ALWAY'S WILL BE. ❤❤
Everyone....from everwhere....literally.....has the same reaction. They are blown away....
You have to watch his soundcheck. Half asleep, yawning and kills it❤
As we say here , in the Southern part of the USA, when we witness GREATNESS....."YEP!"
Were so lucky that so much video was made of SRV so those that didn't get a chance to see him live can still see the GREATNESS that was SRV and Double Trouble.
You have now heard of.....the GOAT. RIP SRV.
Another mind blown by our illustrious Mr SRV!!
He has a couple of concerts you can watch. Holy cow! You will be exhausted before it ends.
he is possessed by the heart and soul of southern rock passion frozen in time for all eternity.
Stevie was the master!!
I've been waiting to hear what another pro guitar player thinks of SRV, the GOAT.
Stevie inspires me. He reminds me to turn up the energy, to give your best.
