Not only are there many Banjo-Kazooie related things to spot in this game, there’s also a copy of Conker’s Bad Fur Day to be spotted to. Due to not owning the game, I don’t know where it is though.
When I was a kid I would play up to the first Medusa appearance, then quit and restart the game. The game was so fun that I wanted to keep playing it, but she scared me so much as a kid I couldn't get past her lol so I just played the first few levels over and over
The Banjo PJs are a reference to Banjo Pilot because he's flying in an airplane. Wasn't even the first game Banjo flew a plane in either, that was Diddy Kong Racing.
Good video! I've never played this one as I have never owned an XBox but it looks like it follows the same charm of classic Rareware titles. I've heard some mixed things about it, but it looks pretty fun. It kind of gives me "Luigi's Mansion" vibes.
Oh my GOSH, I have literally been waiting for a video like this FOREVER!!! The question mark shaped books on the second corridor behind the bars always drove me INSANE as a kid! I was certain there was a secret to getting in that room. And with the bricked up corridor that leads to the ballroom, too. I was always checking out the map as a kid even though its so inconsistent. And I never really noticed the bricks in the basement, now im 10000 times more curious! Someone needs to figure out how to no clip through this game lol
This game was so unique gameplay-wise, with that iconic Rare tone in the atmosphere and the writing! It’s a tragedy it was so overlooked. I truly believe if not for the buyout, and games like Grabbed By The Ghoulies, Kameo, Nuts & Bolts etc had still been on a Nintendo console they would’ve gotten so much more appreciation, Kuz Rare was just as on fire as ever during that time! We need a Ghoulies port on NSO or something! Or even better, A SEQUEL! Let’s go Microsoft!!! 🧟♀️
So to connect the Conker connection more along with Banjo still being alive, the mount head in Conker is actually fake and maybe Baron Von ghoul decided to sell it on eBay or an equivalent in the Rare with a pun to it, to the bartender of the Cock and Plucker tavern.
How I've waited for this moment... Also, I don't think the Grim Reaper is a ghoulie or even the real thing. Since he has eyes, I think he is a human with magical powers.
When I got the Xbox as a little girl it came with grabbed by the ghoulies and Star Wars. I was too scared to play it! The little impa were terrifying. Gosh I was in 7th grade maybe.
4:45 I'm guessing it's a placeholder too that someone forgot to switch out. Maybe a picture of a developer with their partner? Tho part of me wonders if it's actually on purpose. One of those "blink and your miss it" Easter Eggs specially if you don't know about it. Like the "Happy Birthday, Lauren" message in Halo 3 or in Psychonats, in the Lungfishopolis lever. At the end if you climb the last city building and on a certain spot if you move the camera in a certain way you can actually see a picture of a developer's girlfriend that he probably put there to surprise her 😅
The rare game i owned but never got to play 😭 My friend got me the game but the same weekend my brother "borrowed" the xbox he gave me and when he returned it was his friend's red ringed xbox. Couldn't finish shrek super slam or blinx either 😢
You know, I think the gap between Baron Von Ghoul getting the merchandise and hearing about it should be right after the events of Banjo Kazooie, given Kazooie talks about Bottles not being the most popular character in the first game which should happened after Grunty’s first defeat. I’d say between 1999-2002. But there is a chance even if Banjo Land was created by LOG during the events of Nuts and Bolts, Baron Von Ghoul could still have had access to Banjo’s metchandise if we look at some of Rare’s inspirations from 1994-2001. DKC seems to be inspired by the Amblin Cartoons(Tiny Toons, Animaniacs). Cranky might be taking after Slappy due to how cynical he is and how many times he breaks the fourth wall. Then with Conker, who seems to also be inspired by Slappy Squirrel, along with Tex Avery’s Screwy Squirrel from MGM’s Cartoons from the 40’s, which when looking at slapstick cartoons from that era, especially with the voices, they sound similar. A few scenes in Conker has the swearing bleeped in a similar way to Foulmouth in Tiny Toons when he did it. And finally one sketch in Animaniacs, specifically the please please get a life foundation segment, has a fan with all the toys of the characters, and they decide to get involved with fans in real time in that same story. So it’s probably Baron Von Ghoul who you can say would be a bit like the fans in that segment, although they’re not deranged like him, since they’re only interested in trivia and not kidnapping people to turn into monsters.
I haven't in a while but DK Vine should be promoting you for keeping classic Rare alive, your channel is so good in a sea of so many garbage RUclips channels.
@PaperBanjo64 haha thanks so much. I’m pretty sure my channel is bigger than theirs at this point. I’ll do my best to keep the spirit alive!! Would love to do a collab with them sometime tho.
This video was really good. I would say this is definitely not my favorite Halloween game and the game is very monotonous with the controls leaving a lot to be desired, but this still has a lot of cartoonish-horror charm that Rare is famous for and the developers did put a lot of work into it especially since this game was originally meant for the Gamecube (or was intended for it since development started before the acquisition, I also like that Cooper and Fox from Starfox Adventures are the same actor so it was a nice callback as well) until the Microsoft acquisition so it often gets the bad rep as the poster boy for Rare's story of being: "We were great and then there was Microsoft Corporation". Re: the Grim Reaper - I always thought that the Grim Reaper in this game was inspired by William Sadler's portrayal in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey referring to the whole air guitar thing he does everytime he kills something which kind of parodied Death being part of Bill and Ted's band as the lead guitarist in the film. As for my favorite Halloween game, I don't actually have a favorite horror game, I just like the various horror-themed levels in non-horror games since they usually offer a nice treat especially when they are designed by Rare (Haunted Woods from DKR, Creepy Castle in DK64, Mad Monster Mansion in Kazooie, etc.). Although I do also love the Castlevania series. Great video and I am definitely looking forward to seeing more. Happy Halloween Jiggy! :) As for the code: Baron is JarJiniero (Jardiniero? I couldn't make out the word exactly so sorry if I misspelled it).
Thanks for watching! You got the code right, but someone beat ya too it! It didn’t even cross my mind the Reaper would be inspired by Bill and Ted. That makes so much sense!
Excellent choice for Halloween ! I was going to ask if you would ever do a battletoads, sea of thieves, perfect dark zero, Banjo-Tooie, Diddy Kong Racing, Blast Corps, Sabrewulf, Grunty's Revenge or Conker's Pocket Tales ?
You should definitely take a look at my catalog. I have done Tooie and Diddy Kong Racing already! I will definitely be reaching into Rare’s other games as mentioned in the future!
The wish to see what happened with you get the perfect score
Baron is Jardiniero
i will never get sick of grant kirkhopes music and this game is no exception, just pure perfection, love rare so much
Agreed!!
Is this your favorite Halloween game? If not what is?
One of my personal favorite "Halloween" games is the original MediEvil on the original Playstation.

This is honestly one of my favorite Rare games. It's so underrated and has such a unique charm to it! Great video

Could be, but banjo pilot didn’t come out until 2 years after Ghoulies. The image on the PJs is from Tooie.
But perhaps!
My childhood game i remember playing the demo for this at a pub
Woah, your pubs had game demos? That's awesome
