Great video! You mentioned that Tooty was on the missing poster but didn't mention Brentilda's portrait in Pawno's shop. For the B.O.B., I wish they added a game over screen showing the machine being fully charged and Gruntilda's form restored. They had a game over cutscene for BK, why not BT? For the Glowbos, not only are they a race of magical beings, but there's a Mega Glowbo too. I wonder if there are more Mega Glowbos out there somewhere. Looking forward to the Conker video next!
I feel like the reason the worlds and lair are all worn down and unkempt are because Grunty and her sisters magic was probably giving power to sustain the way to enter each world. Without them occupying the space anymore the lair probably couldn't upkeep everything there that was needing magic to exist in that space and just ended up dilapidating over time.
Just binge watched your channel (most of it at least lol) and subscribed, it makes me so happy to see people still talk and discuss about these games, specially Banjo, Kazooie and Tooie are my favorites of all time.
Thanks so much!!! I got tons of stuff coming still! Trying to chug out things as often as I can! More Kazooie content in the works currently as well :)
As much as we all love to disown nuts and bolts as a sequel, TEEEEEECHNICALLY nuts and bolts is the threeie. The rare developers have been quoted saying there was never going to be a banjo threeie, the name was just a throwaway gag. The third game was going to have a different name, and nuts and bolts is what they decided on. Nuts and bolts also changed a lot in what it was originally going to be, like revisiting past levels in a new context and grunty being a constant rival
Yeah. But I bet it’ll be retconned if they ever did another game. Though it did have a lot of continuation of characters stories that I liked! It was just such a deviation from the Banjo we knew. I don’t dislike it. I just want a proper platformer
After you defeat Grunty you can’t go back into Bottles’ home. It always bummed me out as it was mostly the reason you went on this adventure and can’t talk to him or his family. I just wanted to celebrate with em.
You can even soft lock the game knowing this. If you don’t activate the silos, go to the first level, type in the code to open all levels, and after obtaining the necessary moves, revive bottles, save and reset before facing Grunty, you will be stuck in Jinjo village forever.
Same here. I really don't get the point of blocking off Bottles' home, but blocking off the two rooms that take you further than the entrance to Gruntildas lair is more understandable as the N64 cartridge wouldn't have had enough storeage space, plus when playing a new game, wouldn't the player want to explore new levels?
A stupid headcannon I have is that Grunty used a spell to stal the life force from all the collectibles on the island and that's why you can revive Bottles and why the collectibles no longer have eyes or speak.
RareWare has commented about how useless characters Brentilda and Tooty were, likely causing them to lack any appearance in Banjo-Tooie (which is sad because while they weren’t the most useful, they were still kind and cool). :(
What I'd love to see is a Banjo-Tooie mod that makes Gruntilda's Lair fully explorable again, but still have it all be in disrepair, like having all the worlds be completely empty and lifeless without Grunty's magic to sustain everything.
I always assumed because we see how petty the BK cast are, what with playing kickball with Grunty's decapitated head, they just deface her lair at some point between games and maybe her sister's drill might've caused paths to cave in
I don't know which world in Banjo Tooie is my favorite I rather like em all but I definitely love the Glitter Gulch Mine because it's a lot like an old West gold mine and I love the train Chuffy
I always wondered how characters like gobi or boggy made it into the isle of hags from gobis valley/click clock wood and freezezy peak. Like are the bk worlds actual places that exist in the isle o hags or are they stand alone realms created by magic? I guess that's kind of similar to mario 64, are the painting worlds real or not?
4:18 I believe it was for two reasons: 1. Gruntilda's mind deteriorated and her angry as she layed trapped and decomposing underground grew exponentially releasing all the inner evil in her. 2. Its possible she didn't have the power to do such great evil before. However when she got the super weapon she was suddenly now capable of greater evil that she may have wanted to do, but never could. Come to think of it, we haven't seen much of her early life and other activities before the events of banjo 1.
From what I've heard, apparently Banjo-Threeie got transformed into Nuts and Bots. I've never played Nuts and Bolts, but apparently the giant stages that have lots of empty areas are evidence that it was going to be the 3rd entry in the Collectathon Platformer series, before being recycled into the racing game. Also the intro does have you collecting items, but only to make fun of it. The game that was ultimately made, Nuts and Bolts, is a racing game, different genre, so is obviously a spinoff. Too bad Rare / Microsoft thought the Genre was dead...
1. The enemies released by the Winkybunion sisters destroyed Gruntilda's lair. As well as other stuff in that area. It is mentioned that is what they are there for by Blobbelda. 2. B.O.B. only needed so much of a cooldown because Gruntilda was impatient and wanted to use the entire machine to suck the life force out of the entire Isle O' Hags at once requiring huge amounts of power.
Maybe originally you were supposed to go back through the lair after learning a specific move and rescue Brentilda who would give you a spell to enter in the Mayahem Temple Code Chamber. The lair might’ve also had 10 Jiggies to collect as well as I’ve always found it odd that there were only 90 in the game and some of the previews said there were 100 new Jiggies to collect. Something else odd is that even after you give him his last page Cheato still tells you to be on the lookout for more. So there are definitely some unfinished things in BT.
King Jingalings pet is toots from BK, I didn't realize the snaker charmer had a pet lol, but I remember it from the character parade, and found it on youtube and confirmed it. I guess you can tell which one I played more lmfao.
I imagine the extra life force used to resurrect Bottles came from Grunty's rather hefty body. She DID head up as just a head at the end of Tooie after all.
One thing I noticed about Gruntilda's lair Is that in the opening for the game when the camera is panning down over the outside of the lair you can see there is a piece of the brim of the hat missing. Meaning it already had some damage before her sisters arrived. The color appears to be the same as it appears in the main game: brown without the Green highlights In the first game. However both eyes are intact, while In the main game one eye is missing. My theory is it was already in a state of disrepair and the sister's arrival caused it to suffer even more damage.
And I bet the reason why the worlds from the first game were blocked off was simply so they didn't have to include the rest of the lair in the game. To save space On the cartridge.
I do my best to credit everything and everyone I can! I want people who put work and effort into things that I find helpful or useful to get the credit they deserve.
Tbh i always thought the reason she needed the entire islands energy was that she was going to get her body back, and on top of that nake herself conventially attractive like in the first game
I think Canary Mary is supposed to be a Harpy, a half-bird/woman creature from Greek Mythology. They are apperantly wind spirits or "Hounds of Zeus" which could explain why Mary hangs out in Cloud Cuckooland. They are also guardians of the underworld and torment people which is self explanatory.
A small detail. Like with Humba Wumba, whenever you use Mumbo's magic pad for the first time in each world, you'll see the Glowbo pop out of his bag and disappear much like with Humba's pool.
I thought so but I was going through my footage and it’s so much trying to find a section of Mumbo using his magic the first time and shows the glowbo annoyed me so I just didn’t highlight it. Thanks for clarifying!
At this point Banjo-Threeie should be a big rom hack using Banjo-Kazooie & Banjo-Tooie game designs while making the third game original We missed out on what would have been an amazing trilogy of Banjo games
bro banjo tooie was the most perfect sequel of all time imo. the level design and the fact that they intertwine with eachother to complete quests for certain jiggies. every level had a boss battle. the industrial like design of certain parts of the worlds, the music, the 4th wall breaking dialogue, character designs, and mild not too hard not too easy difficulty, and now you had fire eggs, ice eggs, grenade eggs, and remote fucking control mini kazooie eggs. man everything about this game was perfect to me especially as a kid. and my only wish is that i had more of this game just as it was but in a 3rd installment. nuts and bolts was the biggest let down because it took everything great about the first 2 and made a basic xbox 360 game with no soul.
If we had gotten that mythical Banjo Threeie on GameCube it would have been incredible. Honestly would be really cool if we got a proper Banjo Threeie and they made it look like the 64 game so we had a cohesive retro looking trilogy
The glowbos don’t die, their magic gets drained and it looks like they get defeated. But if they’re magical, they can revitalize themselves. Mumbai and humba wumba won’t rely so heavily on their magic power on these creatures if it was only one use and done
I remember seeing constantly people complaining on Twitter about Canary Mary, I borrowed that game from a friend decades ago, and even though the race was long, I found it easy, as she was so far behind when I constantly won.(N64) I've never owned any Xbox consoles.
The first time I 100%'d it I did it on the Xbox port. While overall I'd say it's better there (thanks to some quality of life additions and better performance) the Canary Mary race is AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. True story, I was struggling so badly to clear her Cloud Cuckooland race that my sister suggested using our parents' electric NECK MASSAGER to clear it. It worked, even if the button is partially scraped off lol.
Canary Mary is one of the weirdest characters I’ve ever seen in a game. Also, she really is Satan. Her rematch in Cloud cuckooland can go to hell. Also, the real mystery is why we never got a third game. Agreed, nuts and bolts doesn’t count. Looking forward to your next video man!
I have a theory with Tooty that the sisters unalived her by stealing her life force. This is how Banjo was able to revive both Bottles (who did not have his life force taken) and King Jinjo.
You correctly noticed glowbos fly off and disappear once you jump in Wumba’s pool, I think I remember that they jump out of Mumbo’s bag the first time you activate a Mumbo Magic pad too
Awesome video! It is funny as I had many of these same questions when I first played Banjo-Tooie as a kid, especially regarding the fate of Tooty and Bentilda after Kazooie. 6:40 I've been wondering this for decades and was going to mention it if you didn't already. I'm also curious if there ever will be a complete remaster of Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie much like Crash and Spyro received a few years ago.
The biggest mystery is: Where's the last Jinjo/Jiggy? [Who let my childhood self take control of this account...?] Banjo Tooie was another key N64 title for encouraging exploration for me alongside its predecessor.
I want to know what happened to the Jinjonator / Statue Jinjos from the final boss in BK1. Did they sacrifice themselves to defeat Grunty? Or were they also arrested for being rubbish characters? Also, when the ending was referring to Banjo-Threeie, they obviously meant Banjo Pilot.
@@LilyEmbargo That’s what kid me told myself after being utterly horrified by the opening up to that point. But then you can see a charred space on the couch where his eyes are if I remember right
I feel like the whole "rubbish video game character police" quip was just Gregg Mayles selling out his ex-Rare fellows at Microsoft. Just like the new art style and gameplay in Nuts and Bolts. He really got too big for his britches after the sale from Nintendo.
What kind of magic do you use for the entrances to worlds? That's what I wonder... same with how do the pictures on the wall in peache's castle take you to other worlds?
1: So people don't re explore the old places. The N64 also doesn't have infinite space to work with. 2: Reused assets. The devs liked the creature so they gave the king it as a pet. 3: They did what they needed to in the first game. They were no longer necessary for Tooie. And yeah, the devs also confirmed that they did not like those characters. 4: Having a bad guy with so many talents makes you fear them more. 5: Orrrrr... The gas was as dangerous as radioactiveness. Or the devs couldn't think of a better character design for her. How do you make a bird look like a grandma? 6: Because the devs needed to give the player time. 7: Or maybe the devs wanted to not make them look like literal jiggys. I doubt you can do much animation with a jiggy lol. 8: Get the model from the game and take a look at it? We are no longer in 2003. 9: If you payed attention, once Mumbo casts a spell, the Glowbo jumps out and walks away. So no, the devs show that they don't die. 10: Banjo Threeie is Nuts and Bolts. Don't like it? Too bad. People like Shooters more than senseless collectathons. -L.O.G
My answers are always going to be different than “the devs designed it that way.” Lol I like to add some creativity and explore this lore and contemplate in game explanations for things.
Banjo 2.5 might be grunty’s revenge on game boy. 3 is being made by a fan here on RUclips well the best we will get for the time being, It has a lot of work poured into it and well worth playing. Built using unreal real engine 4.
6:35 After jumping into a Wumba pool to transform for the first time or using Mumbos magic spell for the first time after giving either a glowbo on each stage, you can see the glowbo get thrown out of the pool / bag and despawn during their respective cutscenes. Either the spell kills them, or it just drains them of magic and they run off. You can pick your preference.

True about Pawnos shop. He has lots of stuff from BK. Including Gruntys plushie. And I agree about the games screen!! Missed opportunity!
Just a thought, but maybe Rare thought a B.O.B. game over cutscene would be too similar to the Blast-O-Matic game over cutscene?
That would be cool. Seeing Grunty back to her original form and either satisfied or not satisfied with that outcome would be pretty funny to see
I had an itch for B-T nostalgia on this day specifically, and so the fates have deemed it.
The fates have made it so.
Bro that raapes!
Oh I like the magic lore part! Makes sense if it’s all held together that way
Just binge watched your channel (most of it at least lol) and subscribed, it makes me so happy to see people still talk and discuss about these games, specially Banjo, Kazooie and Tooie are my favorites of all time.
THAT ALWAYS BUMMED ME TOO
That is dark but I love it
RareWare has commented about how useless characters Brentilda and Tooty were, likely causing them to lack any appearance in Banjo-Tooie (which is sad because while they weren’t the most useful, they were still kind and cool). :(
Sometimes I like think that the Mumbo Tokens are just the dead skull of a Glowbo.
(Tooie really made me like the concept of death in this series)
That’s dark but I love it
What I'd love to see is a Banjo-Tooie mod that makes Gruntilda's Lair fully explorable again, but still have it all be in disrepair, like having all the worlds be completely empty and lifeless without Grunty's magic to sustain everything.
And you'll use abilities found in Tooie's worlds to explore the Lair.
As a kid I always thought that Toots was just hiding in the sofa with his eyes sticking out and not......turned to ashes😅
Ah, the innocence of youth...
@@devonm042690Then I guess I was never an innocent kid, I never considered anything other than disintegration.
I always assumed because we see how petty the BK cast are, what with playing kickball with Grunty's decapitated head, they just deface her lair at some point between games and maybe her sister's drill might've caused paths to cave in
I mean could be! We just never see it!
I don't know which world in Banjo Tooie is my favorite I rather like em all but I definitely love the Glitter Gulch Mine because it's a lot like an old West gold mine and I love the train Chuffy
It certainly has great music
I'm gonna be that guy and say grunty industries is my favorite level lol
It’s a bit of a slog of a level but the theme is cool, the crystals got nice visual effects, and music is top-5 catchiest tracks
Man I hope this comes to NSO soon
I miss BT so much. Glad I get to play BK again, but it's been over a decade since I played BT last.
I hope it does too
I can't believe there are people who don't like this game. It's literally better than the first one in every way, and the first one was excellent.
I agree with you! I love it
I always wondered how characters like gobi or boggy made it into the isle of hags from gobis valley/click clock wood and freezezy peak. Like are the bk worlds actual places that exist in the isle o hags or are they stand alone realms created by magic? I guess that's kind of similar to mario 64, are the painting worlds real or not?
Yeah for real! Is it real? Or is it a lie?
4:18 I believe it was for two reasons:
Yeah basically. I did a retrospective on it not long ago! You should check it out. I went over some of the history
Glowbos escapes from mumbo's bag when you done using all the magic required to finish the world.
@@music10293 and they disappear after being thrown out
Also, Conker 2 but half those people are part of an indie company with Chris Seaver, who regrets some of the jokes from Bad Fur Day
The Biggest mystery is where is mcjiggies?
YES WHERE IS IT
Love the banjo content man. It makes my lunch breaks 100x better
I aim to make all lunch breaks everywhere better! Let’s goooooo
Perhaps grunty wants an excess of energy to make herself pretty.
+1 for Conker!
Played Kazooie and now on Tooie. There are so many things that went way over my head when I played it as a 10 year old. Jolly Roger had me dying.😂😂😂
King Jingalings pet is toots from BK, I didn't realize the snaker charmer had a pet lol, but I remember it from the character parade, and found it on youtube and confirmed it. I guess you can tell which one I played more lmfao.
Haha awesome!
Thanks for always putting detailed credits in your description. Loved the Stomp cam
I do my best to credit everything and everyone I can! I want people who put work and effort into things that I find helpful or useful to get the credit they deserve.
Great content and insane production quality!
Thank you!! I work really hard on it!
3:23 LMFAOOO So fucking accurate
How many more dam years have I got to wait for banjo threeie to be made I couldn't care if it was the same graphics as n64
I actually would love that lol
I did initially picture the whole islands life force being drained as a game over video.
Tbh i always thought the reason she needed the entire islands energy was that she was going to get her body back, and on top of that nake herself conventially attractive like in the first game
One theory I have for Mary is that she might be a bird in the same way that banjo is a bear. After all how many bears do you know that have fists?
I think Canary Mary is supposed to be a Harpy, a half-bird/woman creature from Greek Mythology. They are apperantly wind spirits or "Hounds of Zeus" which could explain why Mary hangs out in Cloud Cuckooland. They are also guardians of the underworld and torment people which is self explanatory.
Freaking love this.
Love your content mate keep it coming!
Thank you!! :)
A small detail. Like with Humba Wumba, whenever you use Mumbo's magic pad for the first time in each world, you'll see the Glowbo pop out of his bag and disappear much like with Humba's pool.
Ah I knew I wasn’t just imagining I remembered that
I thought so but I was going through my footage and it’s so much trying to find a section of Mumbo using his magic the first time and shows the glowbo annoyed me so I just didn’t highlight it. Thanks for clarifying!
At this point Banjo-Threeie should be a big rom hack using Banjo-Kazooie & Banjo-Tooie game designs while making the third game original
We missed out on what would have been an amazing trilogy of Banjo games
Yeah I am totally in agreement!
bro banjo tooie was the most perfect sequel of all time imo. the level design and the fact that they intertwine with eachother to complete quests for certain jiggies. every level had a boss battle. the industrial like design of certain parts of the worlds, the music, the 4th wall breaking dialogue, character designs, and mild not too hard not too easy difficulty, and now you had fire eggs, ice eggs, grenade eggs, and remote fucking control mini kazooie eggs. man everything about this game was perfect to me especially as a kid. and my only wish is that i had more of this game just as it was but in a 3rd installment. nuts and bolts was the biggest let down because it took everything great about the first 2 and made a basic xbox 360 game with no soul.
If we had gotten that mythical Banjo Threeie on GameCube it would have been incredible.
Honestly would be really cool if we got a proper Banjo Threeie and they made it look like the 64 game so we had a cohesive retro looking trilogy
@@jiggylookback oh yes for sure. we may never get that gem for as long as we live. but we could dream hahaha
The glowbos don’t die, their magic gets drained and it looks like they get defeated. But if they’re magical, they can revitalize themselves. Mumbai and humba wumba won’t rely so heavily on their magic power on these creatures if it was only one use and done
Well I mean we do have to find one in every level. Maybe it’s a more in depth question than I thought.
In "character parade" the King Jingaling's pet is named "toots".
DUN DUN DUUUUUNNNNNN
Grunty is a capitalist, no doubt about it.
So "evil hag" 100% applies

@@danieldrz heck yeah!!! Happy to have ya!
@ Keep it up! So much nostalgia for this millennial 🙏🏻
You forgot about the bridge in Quagmire 😢
Keep the great content!!!
Did I forget? Or is there potential for a part two…
I was so excited to go up there with the “press L to levitate” GameShark code. Too bad nothing was up there
I've always believed that is supposed to be a secret station to chuffy to go to, and that the switch is very hidden..
The developers didn't have enough children. No Banjo Treeie
I remember seeing constantly people complaining on Twitter about Canary Mary, I borrowed that game from a friend decades ago, and even though the race was long, I found it easy, as she was so far behind when I constantly won.(N64)
I've never owned any Xbox consoles.
Great video! Now make another with more analysis and theory about each one!
They should make a Tootie-threeie with Tootie as the main character back from college looking for where Banjo and Kazooie have disappeared to
That actually would be amazing lol
Just gave this video its 1000th like, which was incredibly satisfying.
Holy crap that is awesome
Gruntilda probably wanted to get her old goal back again by getting a bunch of life to Make her alive and to be beautiful
Ahhh yes. Makes sense why stop at just her old body! Assuming that’s what it would do. It may just make her more powerful which is still a good reason
In an alternate universe we got banjo threeie
One of my favorite games. Excellent video, as usual. :)
Thanks for watching :)
@@jiggylookback No problem. :)
I keep forgetting his name is Stomp-on-a-don
Canary Mary is one of the weirdest characters I’ve ever seen in a game.
Also, she really is Satan. Her rematch in Cloud cuckooland can go to hell.
Also, the real mystery is why we never got a third game. Agreed, nuts and bolts doesn’t count.
Looking forward to your next video man!
Thanks so much! Lol I’m glad we can all gather around Canary Mary 😂
You are doing the work of chamions!
I've always thought that King Jingaling only got most of his life force back with a tiny portion of it being used to bring Bottles to life.
Like JINGALING aged 5 years or something so bottles could come back haha
@@jiggylookback Also why not use some of that life force to bring back the Grey Jinjo family from the dead?
@@wightman1987 yeah rip gray jinjos rip
If only they could make a Tooty and Dixie Kong game in which they work together to rescue Banjo and Diddy Kong.
A tag team game like that across franchises would be sweet! Let’s forget saving Banjo or Diddy let’s just have em Rage against the enemies haha
I have a theory with Tooty that the sisters unalived her by stealing her life force. This is how Banjo was able to revive both Bottles (who did not have his life force taken) and King Jinjo.
Canary Mary seems like she hangs out with Rickety Cricket
Lol that she does!! Freaking Cricket. Makes me want to tell her to shut up bird!
Dragunda looks very peculiar 2:47
You correctly noticed glowbos fly off and disappear once you jump in Wumba’s pool, I think I remember that they jump out of Mumbo’s bag the first time you activate a Mumbo Magic pad too
Seems like they do tho I couldn’t find a clip of it. I assumed so
Awesome video!
Yeah we need this. The world needs it
The biggest mystery is: Where's the last Jinjo/Jiggy?
[Who let my childhood self take control of this account...?] Banjo Tooie was another key N64 title for encouraging exploration for me alongside its predecessor.
That’s what this is my nostalgic childhood coming out 😂😂 and all of ours apparently
Yeah where is the Jinjonator
Also the pet just died from the BOB firing. His eyeballs are on the sofa.
Edit: Nevermind they’re alive woo!
Oh it died? I always thought he was hiding in the cushions

Banjo Three-ee does exist. It's called Mark Kurko games!

It would have been amazing
After Conker… I vote Gruntys Revenge!!!
We’ll see!! Mayhaps!
I love this channel though I only discovered it in the last week...it feels so much like old school RUclips.
Thank you so much! The highest of compliments!
I feel like the whole "rubbish video game character police" quip was just Gregg Mayles selling out his ex-Rare fellows at Microsoft. Just like the new art style and gameplay in Nuts and Bolts. He really got too big for his britches after the sale from Nintendo.
All depends on when that was said. I don’t know when that quote was made. I imagine not long after Tooies release but could be later
@@jiggylookback I remember. It was from an FAQ on the Nuts and Bolts promotional website leading up to launch. Yeah, I'm an old fart.

It’s gotta be simulator the cauldrons and warp pads
BACK AT IT AGAIN WITH THE 🔥 CONTENT
I do my best! Thanks for watching :)
My answers are always going to be different than “the devs designed it that way.” Lol
I like to add some creativity and explore this lore and contemplate in game explanations for things.
Banjo 2.5 might be grunty’s revenge on game boy.
3 is being made by a fan here on RUclips well the best we will get for the time being, It has a lot of work poured into it and well worth playing. Built using unreal real engine 4.
I’d say Gruntys Revenge is 1.5 since it takes place before Tooie. Are you referring to Project Dream? It’s conceptual not actually playable if that.
Don’t forget, there is a Banjo Kazooie game for the Gameboy Advance.
There are two 😎
Great video. How did you get a free cam for this game?
Thanks!
Check my description! I put it at the bottom! It’s a free online tool I found. Only has certain games on it but Banjo is one of em :) I’ve been enjoying using it to spice up footage.
I like to think that the life force given to Bottles was somehow taken from George and Mildred. I have no way of proving it, but it certainly feels in line with how the games treat those two.
So dark lol
But you can save Bottles without killing the ice cubes
