    I’ve been using the PF Bottle set since they were originally released. I have used them countless hours in the woods. I’ve cooked with it, carried water in it, and even used the bottle as a hot water heater and as a cold compress. I recommend them all the time. They make great gifts for outdoorsmen too.

    The system has been absolutely perfected now with the stove adjustment and the bottle blanket which ties it all together. I also like using the multi-tool stand on that stove as well. It is probably my most used piece of gear. It always goes with me. I still have a couple of the old "Backpacker" slant style Guyot Design bottles from Nalgene from back in 2008 I believe. I have a couple of straight walled ones as well. I remember drilling holes in the rim to attach a bail and nesting with the GSI cup. We also painted the bottles with black stove paint to try and heat them faster lol. This set has come about through countless hours spent in the woods and should be at the heart of any kit.

  • @ReachBrian

    Fantastic product. I go back and forth between this and the canteen set. I am planning to have a morning squirrel hunt tomorrow morning in fact, and it will look eerily similar to this. I greatly prefer this to my old Klean Kanteen/GSI cup combo because as the video points out, it's an engineered system that works well together, and you can't hardly ever beat that putting a hodgepodge of separate products together. Kudos to Dave and SRO for creating and continuing to develop and refine a product that sets the standard for what it does.

    • @slickydicky
      @slickydicky 10 месяцев назад +1

      Other than it holding more, there isn't any difference between the gsi and pathfinder cup. Do I prefer the pathfinder cup? Absolutely! But I also prefer the Klean kanteen bottle because it holds 8 more ounces than the pathfinder bottle and still nests inside the pathfinder cup. So I have the best of both worlds

    For about the past 5 years I have been using a combination of Pathfinder,(bottle set), Klean canteen, and Stanley for all camping cook ware. Pathfinder gear is great, but when my wife and 3 daughters take to the woods with me or their Girl Scout troop. It’s time to break out the large Stanley heavy bottom Base camp sets. Stay dry Dave, big storm just crossed the Ohio river here in Scioto county!

    I have had this set with the bottle bag for 7 years and I love it. I find that turning the wind screen part upside down, stove in the bottom and your small squar grill on top provides a much more efficient heat source to the pot.

    Yes, I remember when the canteenshop got the idea to add a grill on the canteen stove. He would put a strp of bacon or a small piece of steak on it and grill it. I still have it that really heavy duty grill canteen stove. I use the water bottle stove upside down with the trivet across it. It becomes a windscreen for the alcohol stove. The trivet becomes a rack to hold the cup over the flame. It works great with the large alcohol stove and also with the fuel cans like the sterno fuel cans. It's so multi-function and efficient. Thanks Dave for everything.

    If you’re able, I’d like to see the alcohol burner made in titanium.
    For anyone wondering, that pot stand works well with both a burner and twig fire. Works great for the wobbly Stanley adventure cup

  • @gwpattrick
    @gwpattrick 10 месяцев назад +2

    Yeah, I noticed that with that burner. I got the tall one. And it didn't work that well, so I put the stand up a little bit. I then bought the smaller burner. And works good.

    I have this bottle set with your new alcohol stove. My set also has the carrying case you designed. I appreciate how there is more space inside that you can work with whether you are just putting in a can of tuna or something else to eat while you out hiking. One thing that surprised me is the case that you show at the end of this video, which looks like a good case but I would have thought you would have developed something more like a gravity, filtration bag to use as a pre-filter. I’ve seen ones that you can scoop up the dirty water hang on a limb with a string that is attached and then just put your canteen or water bottle underneath to collect the water and then of course boil the water afterwards. That to me would’ve seemed like a better choice or at least a first choice in design for people who are interested in Bushcraft/survivalism.
    Love your products! And I will continue to support your videos and product line. So so much good information & I really appreciate you & what you teach us. Thanks!

      @@tennesseeterri
      It’s not a new idea. I know the water in one of the lakes near me would definitely need to be pre-filtered before I would boil it to drink it.. the ones I’ve seen are generally canvas bags that you can hang from a tree on one side. Then the other side has an elongated end where the water will drip through into a canteen. One could easily be made that would fit right over this canteen set. I haven’t been on their website for a while, so maybe it’s even available. If not, it would be a great product for them to carry.

    Not a fan of the stoves man. I'm not even sure I kept my bushpot one because the top gets warped and it doesn't cook that well in my opinion. I prefer an open top. I think old style canteens that have open top stoves that get hooked onto the canteen are better and lighter and I'd like an option like that from you to your stuff. Or have it modular by allowing to add a grill top and have it fully wind proof so you don't have to carry anything else.
    Other than that I love everything.

    I would be interested in a 2nd larger cup that nested that cup set inside of it. Something larger. Maybe similar in height to the bottle with enough room for the stove, the batwing handles, the lid and spoon to nest inside of it. That 3rd larger container in the basically the same real estate offers a lot more options in terms of multitasking and cooking more complex meal options, as well as easily accommodating a guest. I have the PFM40 and it has the basic fundamental issue of not being enough containers in a small enough space.

I have multiple of your titanium and stainless but like to know the ultimate carry in a survival/shtf situation. Money being no object what's your take on it? My observations is the Ti bottles are thinner and seem to bend slightly under hand pressure where the SS seems to be more bomb proof. The weight savings is substantial so one of the questions I have for you is would you go to war with SS or Ti?

    ? A😅re solid lids for the cups possible? No vent holes or bottle hanger holes.
    That cover for the water bottle would be great for hot water bottle in the sleeping bag

    Dave,
    So many people don't understand why you would make your coffee while out in the woods, instead of just taking a full thermos with you. They don't understand how satisfying the whole process of making your coffee in the outdoors really is.

    I bought the canteen set when it first came out years ago, but I've never been able to use it because the canteen has always leaked. I've purchased two replacement caps but it still leaks! Any suggestions?
