    You have a great personality! I am so happy you had such a great experience. Spain is lovely and full of welcoming people. I am returning this year for 3 weeks and looking to move to Spain in about 2-3 years. But maybe I could think about teaching and get there sooner. También me encanta Valencia y este año viajo a Málaga y vuelvo a Barcelona. He estado aprendiendo español durante 2 años. Mi profesora es de Barcelona, que es donde quiero mudarme. También me encantó Madrid, pero quiero estar cerca de la playa. Buena suerte en Sudamerica!

      Perfect timing! If you have any other questions let me know 😊. CIEE was okay, I just thought it was really expensive for what I received. I really did enjoy the orientation week with them and was extremely grateful for the 1 week hotel stay. I recommend joining some Facebook groups that talk about all the different programs before you choose! That's what I did and I thought it was very helpful 😊

Have you been? Also, any games for the students or anything that you can share would be amazing! Thanks Malia!!

      Thank you so much! 😊 That's awesome that you'll be moving to Spain next year, you're going to love it. Some games I would always keep on standby would be Jeopardy, Kahoot, Board Races. Kids love to be competitive so I would recommend doing an activity that includes that. I also liked having the kids work in groups because it let them be more comfortable with the information and they could learn from their classmates as well as work together.

      If you ever need any ideas you can do a simple google search: ESL activities or ESL group games. There are so many websites that have amazing ideas that you could use and modify it to what your students are learning!

    how did you find your roomates? was it through the facebook group? as well as what do you think about housinganywhere I've heard thats a really good website to find apartments.

    • @MaliaBryant
      @MaliaBryant  9 месяцев назад +1

      For my 1st year in Madrid I lived with my friend Hayley, we met during study abroad in Barcelona. To find our other roommates we searched through the CIEE and AUX facebook groups. We were able to message people from there!

      For my 2nd year I just found an open room in an apartment from the app Badi. I would use Idealista and Badi to look for apartments or open rooms when I lived in Madrid. I have the websites added in the description!

    How much do you think you need to save ideally for 6 months in Spain? I’m going in January and they’re paying 1000/month but pretty sure that’ll only cover room/board. Can you do a breakdown of expenses on average how much did you spend a month for food, transportation, rent, activities, etc.

    • @MaliaBryant
      @MaliaBryant  Месяц назад +1

      Spain is extremely affordable so with my Auxiliary (Language Assistant) job and doing private lessons I made a range of €1,200-€1,500 each month. But before I moved I probably had about $2,000-$3,000 saved for Spain. My rent was €500 so that was about half my paycheck, €10/month for my metro card (this probably has changed), €15/month for my SIM card and then I just budgeted for the rest of the things I wanted to do there! You just have to set out your priorities when budgeting. For me, it was more important to travel than going to restaurants or going out all the time so I had to miss out here and there. But in the end it was worth it for me and I had no problems with the income that I was receiving. With that being said I was 100% "living paycheck to paycheck" but I got to do so much! Hope this helps 😊

    How many years can you do CIEE? Years spent on CIEE do not count toward your NALCAP limit, right?

    • @MaliaBryant
      @MaliaBryant  5 месяцев назад +1

      This may have changed but I did CIEE in 2021 and we were only allowed to do 2 years with them, for Madrid location specifically. CIEE is a private program that works through NALCAP so the years are counted with NALCAP. If I remember correctly other regions in Spain didn’t have the 2 year max rule but the 2 year rule was specifically for Madrid.

    • @MaliaBryant
      @MaliaBryant  5 месяцев назад +1

      I hope that made sense! But once again this was when I was there about 3 years ago, so some things may have changed. You could check both of their websites to see if you can find any additional information!

    • @savvyfreelancer4553
      @savvyfreelancer4553 3 месяца назад

      @@MaliaBryant Ahh too bad that years spent on ciee count toward NALCAP Madrid regional maximums. They probably also count toward the 5 year NALCAP program limit. They started a 5 year NALCAP limit in 2022 I think.

    • @MaliaBryant
      @MaliaBryant  3 месяца назад

      @@savvyfreelancer4553 Oh I didn’t even know NALCAP added a maximum limit that you can be an Aux 😕 when I first started I knew people that have been doing this job for 7 years! You can apply to private academies to continue your Aux journey that won’t count with NALCAP (I think UCETAM, BEDA, and Meddeas are popular programs)

    • @MaliaBryant
      @MaliaBryant  4 месяца назад

      Definitely do your own research but with that being said I’m not 100% sure but I’m gonna go with no. Madrid is very in-land and known for not having oceans, lakes, or any large bodies of waters nearby. There are for sure springs around the country of Spain, if you’re interested in travelling to a different part of the country 😊
