    Malia, I enjoyed watching your video. Your enthusiasm is contagious, and it was nice to hear the excitement about Madrid from a young person. My husband and I plan to live in Spain when he retires at the end of the year. Madrid is number one on our list of places we would like to reside. I can’t wait to eat there this spring when we go for a visit! Thank you for your charming video. 😊

      Thank you so much! There’s so much to love about Spain it’s hard not to talk about it. I do agree that we take advantage of some things in our lives without realizing it or being conscious of it

    Can you please review black hair salons! Braids, weaves, silk press etc etc

    • @MaliaBryant
      @MaliaBryant  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi! I didn't have much experience going to any black hair salons! I read a lot of horror stories of people in Madrid messing up black hair so I just decided to stay natural and tend to my own hair for the 2 years I lived there. Lavapies is the most diverse area in Madrid so I would check there for hair salons and beauty supply stores! I was in a Facebook group "Melanin Madrid", I'll share the link with you here so you can get advice from people on there: facebook.com/share/1UKxbqbrk64DEjEa/?mibextid=K35XfP
      Hope that helps 😊

    How low/high is the English level of the students can you have a simple conversation with them?

    • @MaliaBryant
      @MaliaBryant  10 месяцев назад +1

      I would say starting in 4th or 5th grade my students were able to hold a simple conversation in English (not just the repeated test questions they always hear). With that being said, each student has a different level of English based on if their parents speak English or if they have an English tutor.

    Did you feel some discrimination being a foreigner? Can you already speak Spanish?

    • @MaliaBryant
      @MaliaBryant  6 месяцев назад +1

      I’ve noticed that whenever I travel anywhere people either think it’s super cool that I’m from the United States or they hate it until they get to know me hahah. I guess a lot of people from other countries are used to the “bad Americans” so I definitely would get a lot of judgemental comments from random people. But I just wouldn’t let it bother me unless they continued being rude, then I usually don’t give them any more of my time.

      I didn’t speak much Spanish when I lived in Spain but I knew the basics! But if I was out at a bar or a club sometimes people would make fun of mine or my friends Spanish if it wasn’t perfect. But like i said this is only some of the people and it usually only happen if people were drunk. Then they would be a lot more outspoken about it
