December 30th, 2020 - my first time diving into Opeth. I'll be 42 years old this October, been a metal fan for over 25 years...and I can honestly say that Opeth is the perfect band. Part of me feels like I wish I had known about them sooner, part of me understands that my appreciation for them may not have been apparent until my taste in metal/music in general had matured - all of me is thankful to be alive in a time when this band exists :)

I have the same thoughts. I only discovered Opeth this month (October 2021). Until recently, I thought that only classic metal was the only metal worth listening to. I've been a metal fan for almost 40 years. I'll be 52 later this year. I have to admit that I like Opeth's melodic songs the best, like this one. It kind of reminds of Iron Maiden's Prodigal Son and makes me want to pull out and restring my Ovation guitar.
This is exactly what I've kept imagining while listening to this song for the 1000 time. Dark, foggy, black & white forest. The video is a perfect portrait of the song.

I've been a hard rock/metal fan since the 80's. Weird that I just discovered this band a week ago. I had heard the name Opeth before but never heard the music. I recently purchased a new vehicle that has Sirius XM and of course my favorite channel is liquid metal. I think the song name was Wreath and I was who in the hell is this? Then I got on YT and found Ghosts of Perdition live at Red Rocks. Wow, blown the fuck away. I feel sad for the people who haven't heard this band yet.🇵🇦
Thank you Opeth ❤
This song reminds me of driving through the mountains of Wyoming during winter.
Oh my frikkin God, such a treat everytime I listen to this one.
Неимовiрно, фантастично! Обожнюю цi мелодii, голоси та акорди. Це дуже круто та гармонiйно звучить. Моя повага та шанування гурту!
i have bin listing to Opeth since i was 14, i am now 32 and they have bin my favorite band since then. they are amazing beyond words
I think I got into them when I was like 18 or so, 34 now. First song I heard by them was Ghost of Perdition and man, that was one hell of an introduction to the band. I literally bought Ghost Reveries because I liked the album name/artwork back in the day when handheld internet wasn't yet widespread and you'd sometimes just come across hidden gems purely by accident.
@@FreddyChoppins they 1st time i heard of opeth was because my big brother just bought ayreon's the human equation which mr Mikael Åkerfeldt was part of. the 1st opeth song i ever heard was baying of the hounds. its blew my fucking mind! that 1st day i went out and bought orhid
BEST BAND EVER
even after listening to this for 500 times, this is still a masterpiece
Since 2009 I couldn’t stop listening to it
DELIVERANCE-DAMNATION- BLACKWATER PARK-GHOST REVERIES....THE BEST ERA OF OPETH!!
I LOVE YOU OPETH.
I dont know anything about this band or even any of their other songs but I've remembered this song for years somehow
This is one of the most beautiful, well written songs I've ever heard in my entire life
Opeth es un proyecto que hace que merezca la pena tener fé en la MÚSICA. Es necesario que prosigan bandas con este lirismo y profundidad musical. Es una auténtica delicatessen para nuestros 5 sentidos.
This video is the new gold standard for lyric videos. Gorgeous visuals, gorgeous song.
Whenever I sit down at the drums and wonder about to play, no matter what I start with I always end with this. I must have played this song a hundred times over the years and I cannot wait to play it again. A masterpiece
The whole background shots remind me of Agalloch - The Mantle album.
I love the video of all those trees.
I want to build a home in those woods wherever it is
The worst thing you can do is to start the day with Opeth!
Because everything else you'll hear that day sounds bleak in comparison. ;)
Perfect video for a perfect song. Thx Opeth.
Loved Opeth for years, Even my dad (peace on his soul) wich was much more of a 60ies rock n roll and blues guitarist has managed to enjoy this song a lot, Aswell as all the damnation album !
That's what i love with this band ! They're not sticking in their own "safe" place, they're not afraid of travaling tru their music and influences !
And they're doing that in a great way !
Also, this video is a masterpeace ! Great Job ! I love it ! I would love to see more of this for "Bleak" !
Cheers from Belgium !
Bekleyelim bakalım ❤️🔥

Has Opeth severler toplanmışız iyi oldu umarım bir gün yine canlı dinleyebiliriz.
This song is unbreakable. We will never forget you, Shigechi.
we cant have anything without people making a damn jojo reference out of it, can we?
Wonderful!!! Congrats Opeth, much admired music and musicians. Greetings from Panama!!!
This encapsules visually what opeth sounds like. And the lyrics in this song is pure poetry.
You know, I didn't expect this considering how not new this song is, but I will absolutely take this, even though I already knew all the lyrics.
Saw Opeth play this album live in NY 11 years ago. Unbelievable performance
I still have the special edition of this album with the music video and bonus tracks on it (also singed by the members of Opeth at a gig too.) I am still stoked to have literally bumped into you guys on the sidewalk with my bandmates here in Perth in 2019 before the gig at Metropolis!
Quality, language of the trees, atmoshere, smell of the rain!!
2001-2002. A trinity of great, atmospheric progressive records, including Agalloch's The Mantle, and Pain of Salvation's Remedy Lane. Records that changed my life when they entered my life ... all starting with Opeth and Blackwater Park. What a masterpiece!
don't forget Empyrium!
Where at Night the Wood Grouse Plays
@@Subzeranea absolutely! definitely a part of that sound, where dark folk meets metal!
