and i like it way more just to "show us" that nobody is perfect and always right ... its just feels .. well not really "good" i would say .. more like .. less dumb yourself if you see someone like him making misstakes that maybe yourself has done or will be doing later :D
This'll probably get buried, but I just want you to know your PCDC series totally inspired me to deep clean, build and gift my old PC components to my brother for his birthday (plus a new-ish GPU because I'm a great sibling.) He got me into PC gaming when I was a kid, but then I stuck with it and he went almost exclusively console for the last decade, I'm happy to bring him back into the PCMR.
You probably won’t see this but I just wanna say I’m loving these series! It’s taught me to get out of my comfort zone and take apart my entire pc to deep clean. It’s given me the feeling of accomplishment and I want to thank you for that Greg!
Another awsome clean. Absolutly love the series so far, such attention to detail and i love seeing things brought back to their original state, i have repasted a couple of my older GPU's following your videos. I also had a Dell Optiplex doing nothing with a GTX 660 and a Intel Q9650, now all clean and shiny, few upgrades and a nice Minecraft server. Awsome content, looking forward to many more episodes.
Now that is kinda nostalgic. I had the same exact mobo + gpu + cpu many years back. I also had a 120MM Antec AIO on the back panel, what a blast from the past
It always feels refreshing seeing a system get cleaned especially when Greg does it, combined with chill music it's like getting a haircut with a free shave and massage.
A co-worker brought me her sad computer to chech out. They kept it in the kitchen for some unknown reason and apparently near the stove because when I pulled the cover, the inside was coated with a layer of grease, dust and pet hair. The heat sink was so bad that, since I didn't have a replacement that fit, I ended up pulling it and used automotive engine cleaner to cut the grease. I replaced fans and added one more. When I returned the PC to the owner after a deep clean, I explained to her that the machine had been a fire hazard and could have burned her house down! I suggested that she not only find a new place to put the machine, but that she also keep it off the floor! Excellent video! Thank you!
Greg’s videos actually motivated me to clean my system, which is something I keep putting to the side. It took me 2 days during the week with work, baby, cat, dog etc at home lol
its 4 in the morning, and im obsessed with this series. Smartest concept to come up wiht, so simple yet satisfying. Good job Greg, keep going and I hope you and your family are doing well!
i like watching the series. especially looking at those crispy black textured surface of any components after being cleaned. CRISPY! (watching 4k res with 1080p monitor enhances the crispiness)
Thanks for making these videos! I'm not super tech savvy, and I had NO IDEA that GPU's had their own heat sinks. I thought my 970 was just dead and had to go back to using my 670, and I figured what the heck lets clean the 970. Removal of rock hard thermal paste, a light cleaning and new paste and surprise! It works fine! So, thanks to you, I got my 970 back!
I would love to mod that old pc case, like cutting off the floppy bays, smoothen the cuts for the aio, and put an adapter in the cd burners bay and slap another 120mm cooler there, maybe replace all coolers with rgb stuff, and maybe replacing the aio with a fat air cooler too. Great Video!
So satisfying and almost therapeutic in a way seeing these systems get so clean. It still amazes me that people spend hundreds or even thousands on pc builds, and let them get so dirty.. Although I haven't deep cleaned mine, I still dust/vacuum it regularly so, I haven't really needed to. Especially since I have two dogs.
Since i watched your series, i was more and more willing to do a big clean up of my PC. Never build a pc or some like that. Yesterday I completely took it apart, clean and repaste it (Even my Quadro GPU). It was fun and i learn a lot. When prices will go down a little in a couple of months, i'll surely build my next PC. Thanks for it !
Gotta love the owner's down to earth solutions regarding his fitting issues xD When I had the same problem with my GPU's crazy length , I replaced my case, i didnt consider cutting through or smashing it ^^
thinking about how car people tend their cars, it baffles me that some people dont treat their computer the same way. we all come home and expect the damn thing to turn on so we can waste our time with it. personally, every 5-6 months, i give my machine almost as thoroughly as you do these machines. both GPU and CPU gets new thermal paste. never really thought about removing the SoC and vrm heatsinks. but ill deffo do that next time. with all the time your computer gives you, you should give it some love in return. who knows, it might last you longer because of it! Beautifully cleaned man! this is where one can tell how good your attention to detail is!
Hey!!! I have that Rosewill case too, and it's also a 4790K build. Nice build Dillion. That's so hillarious. I too had to bend back the floppy drive cage to get in my GTX 980. I feel so much better knowing that someone else went through the same issue. I relate to this build so much.
The time it takes you is huge! I deep cleaned my GPU and even without video footage and so on I needed around 2,5h because I didn't want to damage anything. And guys it pays off! I got my GPU under 80 degrees celcius since I bought it a few years ago. 10/10 Greg I love your vids!
@@RadialSeeker113 I did mate, it's a 1080 MSI Gaming X OC and I can tell you that I push it to the limit day to day with 1440p and 4K gamíng. Before repaste it would ramp up fan speed to jet turbine and still go up to the 80s in temp.
Nice!! I just found this series yesterday or the day before and already watched all of season 1. Doing a good service to the pc gaming community and making great content as well!
Thank you Greg, for making these (and other videos - your content is nice!) - but more so thank you, for installing the RAM in the correct slots, my cleaning-upgrading-and-reselling-used-pc-maxing-performance-brain just flipped the switch when I saw that :D :D
It’s crazy how clean the stuff looks after a detailed cleaning is done to them. I know they don’t get used in the same way as other items and so generally they aren’t going to show signs of damage such as items that are used like cell phones or shoes.. (just that the computer components don’t get take out and handled as like those mentioned) still, the accumulation of debris can cause damage to the components. It does still impress that once freed of dust that the parts essentially look new. From the perspective of we see through video. Could be a different story when viewed in person.
why it's so satisfying to watch? 🥺 maybe cause it's my line of work too. just a new subscriber, and that s1 10th episode got me hooked up, thank you for this kind of content. so Satisfying
When I saw the case fully stripped I thought "hmm, why not replace it? The owner gets a free cleaning and maintenance service, so why not spend a little bit of money to get something decent." Then Greg put a smile on my face by actually replacing it 😂 Thank you
this is the episode i like best so far. the hardware is still usable and the case upgrade choice is on point. now if only we could have another series where the old case get modified somewhat and put together again.
As a retired PC technician when you said how long the cleaning would take you I almost fell out of my chair, but given the level you went to, I'm now not surprised. That said, perhaps you could speed things up significantly by using lots more IPA - e.g. bathing the motherboard in it then brushing it down. Good ventilation is key!
A small suggestion: You can try adding black extension cables to the motherboard and GPU. It gives off a huge aesthetic satisfaction and also doesn't cost that much.
You should do a custom case with these leftover cases that you have. Like you can try to be creative with what you have. Like giving them a see through side cover like modern pc cases. You can try doing it with much more latest pc parts. That might be more interesting 😍
Hey Greg,I really love this series, its amazing but I have one suggestion that,in my opinion, would improve it even more - test the system on a benchmark before cleaning it and compare the temperatures and noise with after u clean it.
I really like this series. i am watching this series from s1 and it is very educational especially for me to clean my pc regularly. continue your hard work, I really support this series 😁😁😁
It's your first video i watch and i really didn't expect to see that!! I mean, i was expecting a reeeeeally good cleaning but this goes to another level! This is restoration!! Great job!!

Probably because I'm cute.
