    • @MJ-uk6lu
      @MJ-uk6lu 3 года назад +20

      @@phishphood423 They don't. They are becoming truly obsolete for gaming. Forget 60 fps at any settings, those systems fail to reach 50 and sometimes 40. Considering that this is FX 4300, it only has 4 cores and today 4C/8T is a minimum. It may run games at 30 fps fine, but that's it. Even Athlon 200GE is much faster. And to top it all, their power consumption is really high. Almost 200 watts during CPU load, which is comparable to i9 10900K or Ryzen 5950X. A PC like this is only good for older games like Battlefield 3, CoD MW3.

    • @phishphood423
      @phishphood423 3 года назад +25

      @@MJ-uk6lu I am 100% aware that they suck. It was a joke. Edited for clarification.
      Even worse, because they share the same FPU between each set of two "cores," quad core FX CPUs actually perform more like a dual core with hyper threading. Oh and the IPC is trash. 5.1 GHz on my 8350 back in the day still had me getting doinked on by dudes with 3770s at 3.4 Ghz.

    • @MJ-uk6lu
      @MJ-uk6lu 3 года назад +5

      @@phishphood423 I recently had FX 6300 running at stock frequencies (I overclocked it to 5.288GHz once) and it wasn't cutting it anymore. However, if you lock fps to 30 and you are fine with that I guess FX chips aren't useless then.

    i remember a few years ago, my 15yo cousin invited me over to his house, after a few hours of gaming his PC overheats. I ask him what his specs are and he says this happens regularly and that I should take a look inside. That was a HUGE mistake but also kind of a blessing. the moment i took the front panel off a WHOLE ASS WALL of dust falls out, and the guts looks like the dust was built into them instead of collected. not to mention the flipping storm cloud of dust that went everywhere the moment you blew or touched anything. we ended up spending the rest of my stay there cleaning his machine. it took 4 hours before it looked ANYTHING like a computer again. and get this, he had only had this PC for A YEAR. he now has a water cooled system and cleans it regularly. i think he learned from that experience lmfao. he would have burnt his house down if i werent there

    Love the videos, and one tip that I'd suggest if you plan to use the vacuum is to get a car detail brush (or makeup brush) and knock the dust off with that into the vacuum instead of going right over the parts. Paul's Hardware got me on to it and it works better with less worry of damaging delicate components.

    • @GregSalazar
      @GregSalazar  3 года назад +2

    I'll bulk out the story with this shadow, (that is what we call this sku) We got this in as a amazon return, YEARS out of its warranty, we don't even service FX machines anymore, the oldest machines we service are 1200, 1050ti machines these days and even those machines are getting rarer by the day. (so, we don't even know how it was sent back, it didn't even exist in our current system) this was for me at least, was up there for machines we got back from return, but definitely not the worst. we've gotten plenty of machines with roaches in them and a handful that have clearly had furry residents. Though, luckily, these machines are not that common.

    love this series man, this is actually imho the best kind of cleaning, straight up clean and rebuild.. to me the most rewarding as you get pretty much the straight before and after. I hope you found a home for this rig. I have a similar build in a beast of an antec case that was a bear to clean . but runs very stable... Ironically I only live a few hours west of you in NW FL. But in this area, getting gaming systems to clean is rare, but have had a few prebuilt systems to clean that you would have had to have a bio hazard suit to handle lol EDIT: well at one point (based on an earlier video) you didn't live that far from me. but it seems as we had the same idea, though it's more lucrative nowadays to refurbish machines than it was then. such is timing.

    I actually got into pc gaming with a skytech prebuilt. Bought it back in august was $999 for a ryzen 3600 and a 2060 super ( was a budget msi ventus 2x but still a 2060 super) and 16 gigs of dual channel 3000mhz ram. Wasn’t too bad. The case wasn’t terrible rgb and glass window, came with 3 120 mm fans with rgb synced with case in exhaust and a 120mm fan on the front as an intake. Decent gigabyte 550watt psu bronze black cables. 500gb ssd. They really only cheaped out was on the motherboard which was a uATX biostar b450mh, its not bad its just as entry level as b450 boards get, but was fine to power a 65 watt cpu. Even at the time before prices went to all hell 999 dollars for that was decent. The fact they send it to Best Buy and then I picked it up at Best Buy made it even easier as no shipping fees, If something got damaged or broken In transit I could easily bring it to Best Buy. I ended up selling that 2060 super msi ventus 2x for 550 dollars on ebay ( back in December) I could of gotten more for it now. That completely paid for the upgrade for my $599 evga ftw 3 3070 I got in there right now. I also changed out the psu. But it got me into the pc gaming scene and now I am a huge tinkerer constantly wanting to swap parts out and try different settings and overclocks. That same pc I bought back in august skytech Is selling for almost 1700 dollars since gpu prices are insane now. Great company overall.

    had a pc in the shop last week, owners hadn't opened it since 2010, the case had rusted a hole in the bottom and at LEAST 2 COCA-COLA SIZED DUST DOTS, used 4 hours deepcleaning, and changed case, bought the pc by them though and sold them one of my newer ones to them.

    I love this series because you get to see different PC configs, how bad dust can accumulate in them, the therapeutic cleaning transformation, Greg's hilarious 1st impressions of really dusty PCs and more. I hope we get to see more for many seasons to come. That Manscaped ad was comedy gold! 😆🤣

    here is a tip for cleaning, if u dont want the dust blowed off just to get everywhere in room, get a moving box, a air filter and a box fan, and try to clean while sucking air through filter before box fan. This way there will be only a dirty air filter (instead of simply blowing off 'somewhere'

    Feel free to glove up and respirator up as much as you want, but I want you to understand it's a pipe-dream to think you'll never get sick. It's inevitable. Don't live in fear, especially when a lot of that dust is gonna still stay airborne even with a "filter" and "deep cleaning". You'd have to have an environmentally controlled sealed room to realistically make a difference. But whatever makes you feel better, it's 100% your choice. Old video, but still applies to this day. Don't live in fear.

    I have an automotive air compressor. I cleaned out a friends pc that sat on the floor for several years. It wasnt sticky but the amount of dust in all it cracks and cranny's was voluminous to say the least. When I took off the side panel and hit with a strong blast of air, the cloud that form in front of me, and I shit you not, looked like a ghost the size me.
