Pickerel always keep me from bothering with a double fluke rig. Also glad to see you talking up Ethan (Online Outdoorsman) and his excellent Mule Fishing plastics and hooks. Like you, he's a big promoter of UL and even BFS.
For sure lol. I would suggest thicker line as thin line is asking for trouble. But I have been working with Ethan behind the scenes for a while. We are part of Discount Tackle brand Ambassadors afterall :p
Bfs was a game changer for me, it allowed me to replace my spinning gear for the far more enjoyable baitcaster style. Also, as the saying goes smaller lures catch more fish, big and small
Nice video and combo.. that's basically how my grandpa fished for crappie for years except he used live minnows.. I've done this with crappie jigs for crappie but I also use a variation of this and instead of drop shotting I will rig up a Shakey head jig with a drop shot above it and fish it along the bottom.. only when the bite is tough and you'd normally switch to drop shot or Ned rig.. basically both in one.. I put a trd on the bottom sometimes also the top but usually a small minnow or swimbait soft plastic
Sup Jimmy. Great day fishing, love the jig rig! You cought about 5 species👍. Can't believe I havnt done before lol, when was 8 stepfather took me trout fishing and had salmon eggs on bottom hook with. Mini marshmallows on top hook, once started bass fishing never used 2 hook method, have to try in crappie hole I love, got 4 big ones to keep but cought about 25. Ty tc
@@rawrfishing buy the bag of mini marshmallows, they float naturally, but with a size 6 small hook and the added weight of salmon eggs and size 6 hook it can only float the 24# leader from salmon eggs. Maybe on certain baits or lure can get the colored ones and that will work, if too big cut in half? I'm not buying Powerbait anymore h just going back to marshmallows and a handy snack too lol
Not sure if it will work well for your setup but just the other day I had the same concern with a pistol grip rod in a vertical rod holder. I took one of those small round bungees with the ball on em, looped it around the rod above the cork then attached a loop to the kayak to clip it to. Worked great for my setup.
Would it make sense to add a short 10lb fluoro leader to your main line, just before the knot goes into the first guide? 10lb leader might work better with the double fluke rig. So the pickerels have a harder time breaking off. I just bought the KK Maxsteel combo rod so I'll be BFS fishing soon.
I normally go thicker that my 4 lbs when doing tandem. The reason is that fish don't care for how thick when u have bait ball going around. So yes! 6 you 8 lbs be good
Enjoy your videos, watch them all the time. Since I’m just getting into BFS they have helped me a lot. Was wondering, why do you refer to yourself in the third person?
\m/ X_x \m/ Going to try those mule products at some point!!! Until then I want to try and make a micro donkey tail mold no paddle just a noodle tail ;) Worlds Worst Fishing bait maker had an old man on an episode and shared how he makes his micro soft plastics!!
It's hard enough to keep from snagging with one lure for me, two would be a disaster. I've tried it once before and lost everything on the first cast. Never tried again.
Thanks for fishing the gear my friend. Glad you had some luck with them :) Hope all is well with you and your family!
Aye! You got it daddy o!

You bet! Welcome to the club! Gotta get some next size reels up too!

What you have described is the saltwater high low rig. Super deadly and effective! Especially for vertical jigging for flounder!
Nice catches, I like the perch very nice looking fish, that new mule bait looks good.
Thx! I can try some perch fishing soon!

Oh wow... does marshmallow float? That be cool to help slow down the drop of the lures if so!

Totally need that lol. Rod holders can't hold pistol grips :*(

Do you tie direct to line or use snap swivels
Depends on my fishing location and lures. For these jigs, not at all.. especially with pickerels stealing stuff

Thanks mate! I think it's fun to throw in a few different things that is "different" than what folks do. Let's have fun making content!
Nice video. I've been wanting to try a double soft plastic rig. Maybe one day.
Great for deeper waters and i advise thicker line! Bait balls attract big fish!
@@rawrfishing Thanks. Being a bank fisherman is the main reason I haven't tried it yet. Not much deep water that's easily accessible.
@@TheFishingNomad then try lighter jigs and bigger plastics. Let it drop slower!
Hey Jimmy, was ist das für ne Rute ? Ich konnte sie im Netz nicht finden :-(
Fishband Magic Trout Rod. I got it from Bait Finesse Empire, but they are in the United States. you can try aliexpress
@@rawrfishing thank you Buddy !! i will check Ali ore Ebay. Big hug bro
Where can I buy that pencil hook remover tool?
Unhookum.com
is it possible to white water raft over that spillway????
Lol nope. It's like a few inches of hard cement structure below the dam.

@@rawrfishing I would but making them even smaller in size that's why I want my own mold

It's a deep water technique. I can try again else where with thicker line! Next time that is!
