  • Today we are doing some fall crappie fishing in northern Wisconsin. Fall crappie fishing is a ton of fun as fish generally group up in deeper water as the lakes cool. In this video I talk about what areas I look for when fall crappie fishing as well as what presentations and lures work well for fall crappies. I test out a new crappie jig called the Acme Slingblade Tungsten Jig. Thanks for watching!

    Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod ruclips.net/user/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.

    We were up on the turtle flambeau on 10/2 snowing raining 34 degrees it was cold as balls but we stroked the big crappies. Used a lot of your techniques and trusted my hummingbird and was able to find them in multiple spots👍

      I live on a lake in Michigan, and am surrounded by other lakes, and I know exactly what you mean. People come over and want to go for a ride or go fishing, but I'd rather keep it on the trailer and fish other lakes

    Thank you tom! You're my northern Wisconsin go to source for learning I really appreciate what you do... I'm also wondering what your thought process was on choosing a small plastic bait right off the bat for the crappies I've always heard that fall fish are looking for heavy meals like large minnows can you help explain that?

    I always here about how great the fall fishing bite is for all species fattening up for winter. No one ever says when this is. Is it after turnover. Roughly what time of year would you say for southern Wisconsin does the bite pick up. I get skunked almost everytime I go fishing once October hits. I used to put my boat up for winter. I would love to experience this good fall bite. Any tips would be great. Love your show.

    I noticed you're targeting those crappie alot like you do walleye, just more shallow. The question is how do you tell the difference between them and walleye on the sonar?

    • @myhalfacent7408
      @myhalfacent7408 3 года назад

      Crappies on sonar looks like a bunch of bait fish bunched up by trees,bushes, any kinda of cover. Just look for bait fish type of schools, you will catch crappies
