CRAZY strong thunderstorm near Miami, Florida

- Huge storm from 5/5/19 near Cutler Bay, FL. Seriously huge lightning - most of which isn't visible in the video.
Every large white flash was actually a bolt of lightning directly in front of me yet my phone's camera couldn't pick up the actual bolts.
That lightning is very intense. Like xenon flashes going off. While Florida being the sunshine state is also the lightning capital of the US.

Florida has some intense storms... I visited once while in Orlando at Disney World. The sky got dark. Storm lasted about twenty minutes. Then the sky cleared again like nothing happened.

I like how thunderstorms in Florida actually have DARK clouds, Not those grey fake thunder clouds, The thunder sounds like something like Disney would use if a villian in on screen

This is what you call a rainy day with a bowling alley and disco strobe lights here in Australia. The big storms like there was today produced multiple tornadoes that touched the ground then went back up

Greetings from Oregon - OKay, we don't get much in the way of tropical thunderstorms around here - I'm pretty close to the Pacific ocean and that regulates things fairly well, but we did get two nearly identical storms about two weeks apart this year that each lasted at least 8 hours and the clouds were doing some really freaky stuff and moving in ways that I've literally only ever seen while experiencing a particularly intense LSD trip and right here in this video - is that normal?! That's just bizarre how they pulse and jump around like that - I always thought it was just the camera frame rate or ISO settings, but it appears they really do spasm like that....how strange! Excellent video!

Weirdly I am sat here watching a thunderstorm on RUclips whilst a typically lame UK thunderstorm is going on outside my house.

Right at about 0:38-0:39 I happen to notice something fly really quickly through the clouds. It starts right above the trees in the center of the shot then moves very quickly in a straight line towards the top center of the shot. Anyone else see this?
Immediately after this "thing" zooms overhead, there is a very intense sound of sharp thunder. But, after listening to it a few times, it almost sounds like a sort of sonic boom. Are these storms used to cover something up or hide some sort of activity? Super weird.

See what you mean Ian. Still think it's likely to be an artifact - given the lightning conditions. Good spot though as had to go back a few times to see what you meant!
Pretty sure it was a lightning bolt - but my phone camera was on low light mode and also doesn't have a great shutter speed. There were a few nice strikes that didn't show up in this video, sadly.
Last summer I noticed the thunder and lightning were strange..especially the thunder was more crackling..
I spotted it too. It's an artifact, possible reflection of the lightning on the camera lens

@@oscarherrera1129 I'm in the Northeast and we rarely get snow anymore on Christmas. Can't remember the last white Christmas we had.
Our summer storms rarely get as bad as what seems to be part and parcel for Florida in the summer.
pat cola Im so used to getting this type of weather in the early novembers that it looks like its freezing cold but in reality its like 92 degrees with 85% humidity
