    Fantastic! I do this every time I am in Central Florida on vacation. I currently live in Southern C.A. but I used to live in Satellite Beach,Florida from 1969 to 1971. During the summer months, we had pop-up thunderstorms almost every day. Some were more severe than others, but most of them only lasted like a few minutes or so. I travel to Central Florida almost every summer because I have such fond childhood memories of living there and also because I love it so much, despite the weather! Being I am a huge NASA fan, that is the other reason. But the summer weather always fascinates me so I began doing some novice storm chasing if you will. In other words, I do the same thing you are doing here. When I see a storm forming off in the distance, I will drive straight into it to see how severe it is. I drove through a real strong one in Orlando this past June on the way back to Melbourne where I was staying. The lightning was extremely spectacular and the thunder sounded literally like cannon going off! Needless to say, the rain was flatout torrential. I got a little nervous because it became hard to see in front of me. I experienced a similar one in Orlando last year after coming back from Old Kissimmee on the way to Satellite Beach. Last years' was in the afternoon and this years' was at nighttime. It's never a dull moment in Central Florida during the summer weatherwise!

      omg you guys are nuts. I lived in MELBOURNE ;-) from 1980 -1996 and I am so glad to be away from there... because of the thunderstorms. When we first moved there the thunderstorms were not so bad and far and few between. Towards the end (1996) in the summertime we had them almost every day and quiet severe, so bad that the walls vibrated and be had brick siding and a concrete shingle roof. To me these thunderstorms were more fightening than the hurricanes. My husband once, he was mad at me, got in the middle of a severe storm onto his riding mower and started to mow the grass, lightning stricking all around, some people have more luck then sence ;-))

    Commenting 10/24/19 at 530am ...Awesome on the incredible very dark shelf/roll/wall clouds...with TONS of daytimed lightning including many CGs..like those seen at 04:31 and at 7:12.....on SAT 4/6/19....exactly 2 years earlier..I myself had an early season loud Tstorm at my place on 4/6/17...also on RUclips.....Nice thunderclaps heard too..from many of the flashers seen here..on this nice car ride........Also cool on the vocal GPS system...BTW...way back on THU 5/4/78...I myself was riding inside the family car with tons of lightning outside of St Augustine FL....and long before the GPS systems and long before the advent of the camcorders/RUclips.....I had my audio cassette tape recorder taping the loud Tstorm from inside the family car..thunder was also incredible.... very same day..major tornadoes wreaked havoc in Clearwater FLA...I still have the audiotape of it today..over 41 years later... Anyways...excellent video here...and BTW...sorry for the 93 dislikes'' as it should not have ANY dislikes...!

    I've been to Florida twice on holiday and the thunderstorms is always the first thing i remember when i was staying in Orlando. We would go to places when it was nice and sunny then by the time we left to go back to the hotel it the sky would slowly turn black with loads of lightning followed by torrential rain. Half an hour later they would pass. I used to watch the storms coming in from my hotel room as well. Fun times.

    Overnight thunderstorms are the best, especially around midnight. While Florida might be the thunderstorm capital of the USA, maybe the whole world, it seems as though they mainly happen from mid to late afternoons, then fizzle out by night. The only time that they might get overnight storms is if a hurricane, or tropical storm is nearby.

    This reminds me of one time when I was a kid and I was on a car ride with my dad. At one point, the seven-year old me actually thought that we "drove into a night" so to speak, I thought it was so strange that the border between day and night was so sharp. It wasn't until several years later that I reslized that it must have been a thunderstorm we went into 😅

    We never get good storms like that here in central Scotland.
    If we get any it’s just a couple o flashes of lightening and then a few wee rumbles of thunder.
    Worst storm I saw was about 37 years ago in the valleys of South Wales. There were fireballs that scared the life out of me. Someone’s house was hit by one and it fried all their electrics, telephone and anything that was plugged into the mains electricity. It caused a lot of damage.

    where i live, here in the south of the patagonia, we usually call a thunderstom to things that have, let´s say 3-4 lightnings (but that is changing quickly since like 15 years). Here the master is the wind, not the humidity in the air (central Argentina is a totally different story). That THING in the image have trillons more power than our worst storm in every minute of this video... im sure that people is very used to them there, but i would be so scared watching this

      Yes, here in the states it can get REALLY active. This storm is tame compared to the worst one I ever saw in Florida in 1998. That storm had more lightning than I've ever seen in history. Dec 1998 super winter storm

  • @barroncrist5779
    @barroncrist5779 Год назад +1

    Central Florida gets lots of bad weather. A friend who lived in Kissimmee told me in the early 2000's an F-4 tornado hit the town. Florida has more tornados per square mile than any other state. Also, more deaths due to low income housing such as trailer parks. And hurricanes is another story altogether.

    • @michaellefevers4248

      There was a huge winter storm in Dec 1998. I was driving back from Ft. Lauderdale to Jacksonville in a car rental. I ran into the front, complete with science fiction epic lightning. I was listening to the radio, in heavy rain, and the guy says "Tornado on the ground in Brevard county, some number of miles from Cape Canaveral. A few seconds later, out of the downpour on I-95 I see the sign that says Cape Canaveral Next Exit" 😦 I was like, "so this is how it ends". I pulled off the freeway to a gas station. I never saw the tornado, but I FELT it. After it passed, the rest of the way up to Jax was a clear starry night. Unreal experience.
