    This build really makes me wish that strand got additional supers so that Hunters could throw out a one and done then continue with their heavy weapon for DPS

    • @glacierrays
      @glacierrays  4 дня назад +1

      SAME. It's one of the downsides of this build really, there isn't any spot where the super is useful. In a previous version of the build after dunking the nuke I swapped to Ager's just to try to use the super energy for more damage but Ex Diris was just better anyway

    • @ElevatedScvrecrow
      @ElevatedScvrecrow 4 дня назад +1

      Yeah stasis needs a roaming super and strand a one and done. Each super should have that kind of variation as most do i.e well being a one and done will dawn blade and the new super are roaming

    Build is solid and that’s good damage. The amount of players who I see that don’t store armour charges and switch to surges is crazy. I completed my solo flawless on my Warlock and got it in a 5 phase. I only damaged until first anomaly blast as I didn’t want to risk messing up and fumbling the nuke. I reckon if I did you could get it down to a 3-4 phase but the ammo would be tight.

    • @glacierrays
      @glacierrays  4 дня назад +2

      Yeah that's what I like about this strat, you empty heavy before the nuke, then just use ex diris after, so ammo isn't really an issue - and you can have a lot of moths on both for protective overshield and taking down the puppets without really paying too much attention to them. The main thing to be aware of is not blowing yourself up, and staying out of the lightning. Congrats on the 5 phase, i'm seeing a lot of people struggle bus 7-phases and that sounds miserable to me

      @NorthEastMick 4 дня назад +3

      @ 7 phases is miserable and I’ve heard of people doing it in more. I know a guy who used Graviton Forfeit and basically ran the whole last encounter invisible and used Anarchy only to tick damage the boss to death. Sounds like fun 😂

    Solid build, Strand is slept on but it’s probably cause the supers are kinda mid. I haven’t messed with hunter but I’d probably try the area gl/anarchy multiple supers strat and just use attrition orbs on the GL to sustain. 1 recup on the boots + the fragment that gives resto off orbs should be fairly safe

    • @glacierrays
      @glacierrays  4 дня назад +1

      Yeah that's sort of what I was doing before, but with riskrunner. If I went back to that i'd use the void area denial for attrition instead of lost signal. Just completed my solo flawless today on hunter, using prismatic with specter and sword - dmg is similar to your build! 5 phases when stopping dmg early to make sure to get the nuke, doable in 3. It is pretty safe but it is super crucial to use the dodge to kill clones mid to get the nuke. Also requires baton with attrition to heal often enough... Your build sounds safer for sure, it is a shame though that on strand, we dont get to use the super in a meaningful way for dps. Though I guess it could help in case you are in trouble to kill the clones quickly.

  • @ahawkone8850
    @ahawkone8850 3 дня назад

    I think personally I'm still too scared of using explosives for this strat. But I think it's very cool and I think you are definitely on to something here.
    Good luck with your move and I'm looking forward to seeing the refined version of this build!

    • @glacierrays
      @glacierrays  3 дня назад +1

      We're definitely short on non-explosive legendary heavies. It's only Linears or LMGs, which are quite bad for this boss. We need some legendary 'normal' fusions in the heavy slot. All the variation goes on exotics

    • @ahawkone8850
      @ahawkone8850 2 дня назад

      @ I’d so be down for a legendary heavy fusion rifle frame!
      For this boss, have you tried the Lament strat? I’ve been using it in my attempts… having a sword of any kind TRIVIALIZES the nuke rooms. The healing is about as consistent as what you had here with the moths, and I find being in 3rd person makes the lightning easier to see. The trouble is sometimes during DPS I get distracted chasing clones or I don’t think through my moves properly. And then I forget about lightning and I die.
      But either way, a pattern I think I’m seeing is that when your on the back three platforms with the boss, or with clones, lightning will typically only strike the platform I am on. Whereas when I’m out in the field it seems like it targets me as well as dropping it all over the place…

    • @glacierrays
      @glacierrays  2 дня назад

      @ahawkone8850 i've never been a huge lament fan tbh, but I can see that working yeah. And the lightning pattern i've noticed is this:
      - split the arena into 3 columns, each in line with the floating platforms the boss can stand on. Wherever the boss is, the other 2 columns will have lightning all the way down striking at the same time. So basically always move to be on the same side as the boss.
      - single lightning strikes will occasionally strike where you are stood (i.e. it follows you) so you have to keep moving and watch out.
      - single lightning strikes will occur randomly.
      So yeah, a lot of lightning, but it gets much easier to avoid the more you practice it

    While Mothkeepers isn't new for me, the idea of using whatever class like Strand to get the grenade faster is something I didn't even consider. I'm looking at Solar right now, to get grenade regen for giving Cure/Resto/Radiant to allies using Healclip and whatnot using Ember of Benevolence. or Moths on top of Restoration from something like Ember of Mercy. Or Prismatic with Facet of Balance. Even Stasis has one, get Grenade energy from taking damage altho that might be less reliable.
    Thanks for the insight.

    • @glacierrays
      @glacierrays  4 дня назад

      Yeah I was looking at those options too but due to the nature of the encounter with a long duration and only sporadically enemies around to proc effects from it just doesn't hit the same. I tried stasis with renewal grasps and riskrunner and the DR was actually nutty, but the lack of healing to top up the small amount of damage you do take eventually killed me more often than not. Maybe moths on stasis would work well with that fragment to gain nade on damage received but the other rooms before damage will be much worse, I really like having grapple there

    I been using chill inhibitor and ex diris for dmg on all my classes especially on this fight for the past 2 weeks. It does solid dmg, I average about 5 to 6 mil dmg in a group using those two weapons. Plus it’s way better than having to stand still using grand overture!

  • @astrialbarrier

    Interesting approach / build. What I don’t get tho. In the second room, why didn’t u just used ur super to find and kill the right puppet?

    • @glacierrays
      @glacierrays  3 дня назад

      I suppose that might be a good use of it as it would give me grapples to get around the room quickly and safely during the scans, but I could also keep mothkeepers on beforehand to give me overshields. The way I was dealing with it before trying this build was on prismatic with a chill clip fusion so I would go invis when it died with stylish so on 'muscle memory' I just replaced that with ex diris. The downside of using the super is it wouldn't make an orb for healing and woven mail on kill, whereas a weapon would with a reaper dodge beforehand which I always try to do. Still, next chance I get I'll try it!

  • @joejitsu22
    @joejitsu22 17 часов назад

    Do you think this is a superior moth build vs the prismatic version in general? I use a prismatic version often and this looks fun to swap too

    • @glacierrays
      @glacierrays  15 часов назад

      I think this one is very situational, so it's worth bearing in mind for future similar encounters (long damage phases, lots of threat, no red bars for easy healing procs / extends), but prismatic has so many advantages in other ways (Radiant, Weaken and Transcendence all can increase weapon damage, whereas Strand has none of these by default except what the artifact allows).
      I'm definitely going to keep this in mind for future contest mode / master content, because it will also be able to apply overshield to teammates so might be a great way to keep the team topped up in DPS phases where we're taking lots of damage even through a Well Of Radiance

  • @TK-421_66

      For a long time my go-to build was mothkeepers on void with a demo+tricorn Unforgiven. The moths would give me volatile rounds because of the grenade kills, as well as proccing tricorn x2 for 50% damage buff, plus demo and devour stacked together for faster grenade regen - it slapped. But recently they changed tricorn so it does actually need to match the ability element rather than the super element so the moths only proc x2 with arc weapons

  • @ROFLWAFFLELAWL4
    @ROFLWAFFLELAWL4 4 дня назад

    Definitely incorporating this. I saw a Prismatic Hunter build not too long after Datto posted that video where the guy 2 phased as a Hunter. Used an Attrition Orbs Baton, Explosive light void GL, Bastion as the kinetic Special, with smoke grenades. 3 Kinetic Surge mods with a Foetracer + Gyrfalcon class exotic.
    Whole rotation seems to be throwing out Baton for orb gen to keep kinetic surge up while using Smoke grenades to proc Foetracers for Baton and void GL surges. Most of the time it's Bastion damage with some bursts of Smoke -> Baton -> HGL when they get some distance due to knockback or having to move away from lightning.
    Good to see more and more players finding strategies for Hunter. Makes me life easier as a Hunter only main since Forsaken lol.

    • @glacierrays
      @glacierrays  4 дня назад

      Yeah I saw that too, not sure how safe it is for a solo flawless run but it's so smart. I've always loved explosive light on GLs and have wondered about rotations with attrition orbs to keep that juiced since that perk came out so seeing it come together in that 2-phase was wonderful

    i never understood how people switch loadouts mid fight and have everything still full can someone explain?

    • @glacierrays
      @glacierrays  3 дня назад

      There are 2 things to make sure of when swapping loadouts:
      1. Subclass, aspects and fragments all have to be the same. If anything is different you lose all ability cooldowns. Things like class ability, melee and grenade can change, but in most cases you lose that specific ability's energy.
      2. If any weapons change then they need to be of the same ammo type in the same slot. So if you go from a primary to a special in the same slot you will have no ammo in that special after the change.

    what does the exdiris do for you there?

    • @glacierrays
      @glacierrays  3 дня назад

      As it's a special GL it weakens the boss with the concussive reload artifact mod; on kills and sustained damage (every 2 hits) it releases an arc moth which tracks enemies and detonates for decent damage akin to a grenade; plus while wearing mothkeepers it also releases a void moth at the same time which tracks to you to give overshield. As I use all my heavy before the nuke phase it's also good backup damage after the nuke, as it autoreloads itself and fires faster while in sustained combat for higher DPS

      Because that's an entirely different build. Before this I was running prismatic goldie with inmost and cyrtarachne, and it was good damage (4 phase, maybe 3 if you push it) but the problem with cyrtarachne is it's only damage resistance, it doesn't heal or ever compensate for the lost health so you do still get low health often and need something else to heal. Yes people have been running attrition orbs builds with it, but the reason I put this video out is to show how easy it was have near-constant overshield without really thinking about it, and you can spend most time just dealing damage or avoiding the nearby puppets. There's way more going on in a prismatic build, especially when you get low health and immediately have to focus on that above all else. This build is just spam grenades to stay healthy and also damage puppets

And to be honest with you this season it feels like hunters kind of got shafted as much as the mask of filthy helps to control the ad situation it just isn't enough for us because when sanguine alchemy a Thunder crash and glacial quake are just raking up damage and destroying bosses hunters are essentially useless this season and there's no reason to play them and that comes from a guy who's been playing the hunter class for ever since it's alpha and Beta on Destiny one and I hate saying that

      Also the point about the dungeon is kinda silly when it’s the most straightforward one we’ve had in years. Only 3 encounters, traversal sections aren’t bad, can actually speed up 1st encounter if you have multiple people. Only way this dungeon feels longer than the last few we’ve gotten is if it’s taking you 3+ phases per boss which is a damage rotation problem, not a design problem
