Try this and ignore this help video as it's out of date! When you reboot your Mac, simultaneously hold down these keys: Apple(Command) + Option + R (ie not just Apple/Command + R). In the 'Reinstalling MacOS' field, it will offer you Ventura or other recent OS and off you go. If you only hold down 'Command + R' the system takes you to an older recovery setup offering older OS like High Sierra, which Apple no longer supports. That’s why you get the message: 'Recovery Server Could Not Be Contacted.' So all that changing the time stuff won't help. Good luck!
just wanted to thank you because this was the solution and an easy one. not sure why you are still able to access the old system - that should be fixed.
About the Usb Installer, it isn't clear for me. You have to find an "available Mac", that means another running smooth Mac, correct? Then you have to download the installer. Then, you should copy that file onto the USB. Then you run the things on Terminal where: On problem Mac or the other "available" Mac where you downloaded the installer? For me it's confusing because it's the same computer shown on video. Other question, I'm trying to download the Installer (since my MacOs doesn't start anymore) but the other Mac is a Big Sur (while the problem Mac is a H Sierra). On a Big Sur, it starts to ask for updating (and it ends as Error since isn't an update) but I like to only download in order to create the bootable Usb. Any clue what I could do to download the High Sierra installer on a Big Sur computer?
Incase in the future this might be helpful: If you still keep getting the server error,i suggest changing the partion of the drive into MacOs (Journaled) if its APFS

this is happening because apple decided to shut down the servers used for the Lion OS X, the only option available is getting another mac or windows and make a bootable Pen Drive. I'm having a hard time using windows but I think I got it
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, click General in the sidebar, then click Date & Time on the right. (You may need to scroll down.) Turn on “Set time and date automatically”, click Set, then enter a network time server for your region. Turn on “Set time zone automatically using your current location”.
And the thing is, I really didn’t want an iMac because it would cause problems like this. I just wished that my mum got me an windows desktop because it is so much better than apple
Right?! You can't operate 1 Mac unless you have a second, like they need to be bought in pairs?? They just assume everyone with a Mac MUST have another one they can access?? It's as unnecessarily frustrating as needing iTunes (and an operable computer to install it on, of course) just to access certain options on the iPhone! Apple products have never been intuitive, accessible, or at all user friendly in my opinion, I moved away from them real quick... If only my daughter had done the same, then I wouldn't have to be here right now lol
