    Fuji doesn't chase Sony here, but concentrates on photography. You either like it or you don't - nice that we have the choice. Very well the characteristics of the camera represented!

    The most important selling feature is the LCD screen. People either like it or they don't. The XPRO 2 should be discounted heavily by now and that camera should represent a better value for almost the same results. I personally don't see enough innovation to justify the expenditure for my kind of photography. I hope Fuji keeps carving out their niche in the marketplace that offers shooters more of a choice in camera styles in the future.

    This will be my next camera.
    I know lots of people are complaining about the absence of various features, but the X-Pro series is such a unique product I can't not love it.
    I very nearly bought a Sigma Quattro if that's any indication of the type of shooter this is attracting (and I can't wait for Sigma's upcoming L mount Foveon body).

    The XPro3 is one that I am super excited for, and while it will not take over as a primary camera, my Leica M2 is still that for me, but this would complement that for me, especially if paired with the 23mm f/2 lens.

    I’m a film shooter. But I do have an XH1 which I use primarily for Video, but also photography for work, and have the original x100 which I loved til it broke down. The Fuji cameras really appeal to me because of the closeness to the film shooting experience (simulations, ergonomics...). If I were to get a dedicated stills shooter, this would be the one I’d get for sure. I never use the rear screen anyway, other than for settings, so this appeals to me a great deal. If money wasn’t a factor, then would also consider the GFX 50R medium format one, or the new Leica m10d (though that’s super expensive in comparison)

As an aside, if I may be a buzzkill, at 4:05 I clearly saw two scratches on the front of the camera, despite its Dura finish. If you're going to pay a $200 premium for a scratch-resistant finish, then it should be scratch resistant. Great review. The images have been the best so far among all the reviews. I like that Fuji made a bold move to do something different. I shoot both film and Fuji xt2 but so far not excited enough over the hidden screen, the film tab pocket is a nice touch though. I guess people who like it will buy it, and those who don’t will pick another Fuji model.. the new film simulation also looks beautiful!

  • @RegCoulter
    @RegCoulter 4 года назад

    I think that the ideal X-Pro 3 would be as it is now, but with a proper floppy screen that also offers touch. I love being able to use the electronic viewfinder in my GX-7 and move the focus points with my finger on the LCD screen. Who in their right mind needs to be reminded of the type of film simulation they have selected. The screen as it is now, is almost useless, as the reviewers discovered, when the camera is on a tripod, or has a quick mount plate attached. The ISO in shutter speed dial is not an issue as you can reprogram the camera to use one of the other dials, such as the front or rear dial. I do this on my X100F and it works a charm. Fuji, you are going in the right direction but messed with the design a little to much. I returned my copy due to the almost useless folding rear screen. I love the rangefinder style, but want the X-Pro 2 screen back.

    I'm going to wait to get my hands on one first before I make a decision. Honestly, the hidden screen seems fine, at least for my purposes. I only use it when I'm shooting from the hip or at ground level. But since I already own an X-T3, and I'm pretty sure some of the features from the X-Pro will be making an appearance somewhere down the line, I'll have to do a lot of mental gymnastics to justify this purchase.
    Oh, and I've come up with a rule for comments on Fujifilm videos - if you say "Just buy a Leica" you have to give $5000 to everyone else in the comments section.

Make more sense to me if they'd kept a traditional screen that you can turn off (or that only turns on when you tilt it, for example) or just removed it altogether. I don't understand all the hype around this camera. Why not just get a X-Pro2 (for a lot less $) and cover up the back screen? I mean, do we intelligent humans need Fuji to "hide" the screen for us so that we're not tempted to chimp? Personally I find this patronizing. Experienced photographers rarely chimp: shutter speed, aperture, ISO are set to the specifications the photographer needs, in-camera meter is indicationg correct exposure, focus is confirmed. Click, take photo. What's to chimp? If you really don't want to chimp-- ever-- and you want a film camera experience, then simply get a film camera. I'm a long-time Fuji shooter and have owned many Fuji bodies. I have the X-Pro2 and it's an amazing camera. The ISO dial is a PITA, though. The optical viewfinder is a nice bonus, but I never used it. I'll get a DSLR if I wanted an optical viewfinder. I also own a X-T3 and I love it. All the proper dials are easily accessible.
    I'll say this: if you're constantly chimping, it's an indication that you aren't confident behind the camera.

    this is nothing more then a toy. For the price of that you can get a full frame camera. We are now in the 3rd and possible the last war. First was the resolution, then was the ISO war, now we have the focus war, and so far Sony is leading it. With X-Pro 3 being at the same price with a A7 III - 28-70mm f3.5-5.6 kit, it really does not offer much if anything for the money. As I say this is the last camera war. Photo is now creating an vision. Any phone can take a picture to put in the newspaper, or for family album, so the "camera to carry around" market is gone, and for "I need to capture my my vision" you have cameras like A7III. This is nothing more then a rent camera. You rent it for a day, have fun with modes and stuff and return to your full frame, or see if you enjoy taking nice picture and move from iPhone 11 to a full frame.

      Why the push for full frame? It’s objectively better in certain conditions and honestly only certain bodies even. The appeal for full frame has died a lot due to technology getting better and better. Mirrorless cameras had a huge appeal with weight reduction but their lenses are just the same if not heavier when compared to other full frame lenses. There’s a very small demographic that’ll be able to tell the difference in a good apsc and a good full frame and they’re honestly too worried about pixel peeping to be of any concern to an actual photographer. This is an outstanding camera with an incredible lens lineup that doesn’t negate the small form factor capable with mirrorless. It is slightly unconventional but body styling has nothing to do with its capabilities.

      @@bigwingdangdoodle the "apeal" of APS-C is "look I can do with 2000 euros what that guy does with 20.000", except you can't because you can't cheat math. You fix background, the sharpness is not there, you fix the sharpness, the light is not the same and so on. The push for APS-C now is because the Nikon 610 still does great pictures and the 850 does not justify difference of 3500 Euros, so they targeted the semi-pro market and they try to sell them to the pro and top-consumer. Here is what a consumer has to deal with if it goes APS-C or up from a 1000 Euro smartphone: 3500 Euro initial price, storage in cards, time to process the images, time to learn the basic stuff, long term storage, that involves additional price and dragging around additional gear and when you add all that up, in terms of money and inconvenience, 99% of the time it does not justifies the difference in quality. As a consumer, I would say full frame minimum, or save the money and go medium format. For 5-6k you get in to medium format, an less then double the cost, but you get a much different experience.

    • @bigwingdangdoodle
      @bigwingdangdoodle 4 года назад

      Cotoi I will certainly agree that switching from a phone to an actual camera, short of maybe a point and shoot, is generally not worth it for most people. I won’t argue math and I will easily admit you probably know more than I do on that type of subject. I am talking strictly from a normal clients POV, the images a good photographer can produce will most likely satisfy most clients that could never know the difference. Also I would argue there is more of a push for full frame judging by the big brands out there while Fuji has just maintained their apsc line and has done quite well going bigger than FF. Those medium format bodies from Fuji tempt me more and more if I’m honest but right now I don’t even have the need for FF and the compactness of apsc is what is a priority for me currently.

    I don’t see the point of buying it when you can get the XT3 for a thousand dollars cheaper!! The X pro 3 it appears to be more style over value and substance. It’s for the fashionista’s

    The X-Pro was always NOT the most good looking X camera IMO, this one is no different. And that's screen is just utter bullshit.
    I hate this.
    Why no one can make flip screens like Olympus? Wouldn't be much better, ideal, to have the ability to flip the screen completely in the back. Then you could have both way, the traditional and the new when you wanted. The way it is just adds to the ugliness.

      @@TheCameraStoreTV I like Fuji, "I'm Fuji Team", but the X-Pro like is just a bit too big for the sensor size. It's a contradiction, Fuji wants to sell small and attractive cameras but they are bigger than they should and the designers aesthetic taste is a big questionable, and this camera is a big example.
      For example of good looking cameras in this category, the Olympus E-M5 II and III. Not the E-M10 because the tall right dials ruins it.
      The new Nikon Z is another very pleasant looking.
