The newest chapter in the Uboom L saga. 🙈 The Uboom L release and subsequent updates have been similar to watching a train wreck in slow motion. The lack of an app adding to the ease of the process. 🙄 Anyway, thank you for all of your testing and for another great one, Alan! 👍
I just got the UboomL, came with 050, was good but decided to downgrade cos of all the talk online about how good Oluv's tuning is. Could only find the 048, mehn I must say, the best thing I ever did for my ears. It sounds crisp just as the flip6 with a little more bass and open sound. Just wow. I see that the 043, 045, 048 are basically the same soundwise. 048 is just bug fixes.
Hey guys I've owned a uboom l seen 2022 and every firmware version I've tested and it's sad to know certain versions were tampered with, the only version that is pure best too use is 4.3. here a changelog too my testing 0.3.9 - best hifi quality with average bass output this was a testing sample which sounds good on some units. 0.4.3 is the best and completed firmware version it's not altered 0.4.4 battery indicator audio seems too compressed compare to 4.3 which the sound stage is more opened. 0.4.5 something ain't right in that firmware the mids are taking over the vocals and in outdoor mode within the 5khz to 8khz regions are bleeding horribly. 0.4.6 bass been boosted and vocals been minimized along with the highs. 0.4.8 too boomy although the vocals and highs became neutral. All those who been wanting a battery indicator it's not necessary seen the four led stripes has a pattern 4 = Full Battery 3 = 80% 2= 50% 1= 30% About 10% the speaker will announce that the battery is low you have about 5 mins depending on the volume before it shuts down. So from 4.4 to 4.8 earfun been screwing around for some reason, as for 5.0 rip uboom l you're a legend that's been killed by a Chinese Geek. Ps: if it ain't broke don't fix it, shame on you earfun.
I don't care about the drama or who has done dirty whom, but Oluv managed to push great value and quality out of Earfun speakers and their free pro 1/2 earphones. He has claimed the goal - affordable high quality sound to his viewership and I(we) appreciate it. If people don't want that, that's fine. But he gave us the real option.
Right on Alan, the .45 firmware is the way to go. I have two of these speakers on .45 firmware and never felt a need to upgrade firmware after that especially now that they have removed the geek tuning.😉
@@DanYT92 I've used 43 and 45 and I couldn't tell the difference. I think the only difference is 45 shows the battery percentage if I remember correctly. I'm staying with 45.
I'm using 0.4.3, idk but it sounded slightly more refined to me for some reason, particularly on outdoor mode... Like they introduced some procesing on 0.4.5 although difference seemed so small that I could be completely wrong
about app oluv says it: "For those wishing an app for the UBOOM L: there probably won't be any, as the current Earfun app is outsourced to another company and the costs would be high to include the UBOOM L as well, while current sales are not that high to allow for further investments."
trouble is in the future no app will mean you are behind the curve. we wouldnt need an app of course if they got the tuning right. trouble its been absolutely for the purists or absolutely for the untrained listener, we need something in-between 🙈
it's a decent speaker for low volumes, currently on 0.48, the last official Oluv's version, I've tried the 0.50 but it was too bassy with some tracks. for better sound eventually you'll need bigger speaker.
Strange to renege on their marketing strategy for the speaker by dumping Oluvs tuning. One thing I've never seen discussed is exactly what's involved in tuning a speaker. Is it just EQ or is it things like the number of volume steps and giving a different EQ for each step? People say the Uboom L sounds good at low volumes compared to "untuned" speakers.
all these bluetooth speakers are tuned, they all have dsp. Just some are tuned better than others. but thats also a matter of debate, what is good tuning? they use a combination of global eq and dynamic eq and limiters on top of everything.
The "tuning" on most of these is done through sigma studio as they almost all use the same tda DSP chips. Easy to find tutorials on RUclips, then open these up and connect to the DSP.
i agree but they say this has been done on the basis of feedback. It clearly was not selling well enough with oluvs purist tuning but they really missed the boat by totally changing it so drastically. people need to know what the signature of this speaker is.
Pretty bad idea to chose a Chinese Software dude to tune a speaker than to have a dude with some experience in audio tune it. I have high Hopes for Earfun but I think they ruined it.
Well Oluv's target audience sound signature still isn't me lol. I'll probably never review this speaker unless I am running out of speaker to cover then send it back before the 30 day period 😅 I'll take Oluv tuning instead of Earfun's just because it just sounds more impressive to me
the thing is im sure we could get this to be more of a crowd pleaser without totally dumbing down the tuning like 0.50, they just have to ask us right? 😎
Hello alan.. Can you please suggest me which one should i go for between charge5 , motion boom or anything else?? My priority is bass and portability..! Thank you in advance
What are they doing to this poor little speaker? At this point it would be for the best if they just cut their losses and got rid of it, cause anybody who buys this version and doesn't know about the other firmwares - which on amazon I am guessing is 90% of the buyers, will be buying a real potato, advertised as tuned by a dual wielding geek pool master 🤦 Good one Alan, had me lauging throughout the video 👌

Hello, can you please test a speaker from the Brand 'Hopestar' like the Party One or the A60? I think they are really interesting speakers. The Party One look like an JBL Encore Clone but it look not as cheap as other China speakers and the a60 is an 3 Way Boombox for 180€ and it will be interesting how it performs next to a Tribit Stormbox Blast. honestly uboom sound was never issues for me but its mostly the way the speakers worked because the location of them is very inside the housing wich ment for my experience if you listen bit off axis it didnt sound great , also i really didnt liked oluv his tuning on my unit also made me sell it soon (earfun didnt wanted to send it because they didnt accept critism for giving samples)
Oluvs fired up from Earfun. Now it's time to raise JBL😈. Someday i will enter as Engineer of JBL Professional, next company will collapse is Devialet ☠️👇
0.45 is better having depth, and smoothness. 0.50 was not necessary. Oluv made great speaker at this price point but there was no need to get provoked by the people, he himself a great sound engineer. 0.50 going scratchy in maximum tracks but it will sound good in accuastic music only.
Oluv heavily tuned it or shall we say inspired it from the Denon Envaya DSB 250 BT 0.45 is best for critical listening while 0.50 is best for every bass lover or the average consumer. I'll stick to the 0.45 as its nearer to denon envaya dsb250bt
Yep! Uboom is a loser. Ill never ever gonna buy that speaker ever since oluv made a bad remark about me. He broke my heart when he turned on soundcore motion plus and because a sell out for uboom earfun speaker 😢

@@alanrossreviews Out of curiosity, do you happen to know if the JVC XSD5312A stocked by Currys for £70 is a complete turkey? It's also a 30w speaker, with limited 30-16,500hz range. Just curious, in case it's an overlooked gem
so is this speaker worth buying for $50?
Yes but that doesn't mean you will like it. Depends what sound you are after and what firmware you use.
honestly uboom sound was never issues for me but its mostly the way the speakers worked because the location of them is very inside the housing wich ment for my experience if you listen bit off axis it didnt sound great ,
also i really didnt liked oluv his tuning on my unit also made me sell it soon (earfun didnt wanted to send it because they didnt accept critism for giving samples)
Yup, esrfun didnt send me the promised second production unit after my original review wasnt over flowing with praise 🤪
@@alanrossreviews 🙈
indeed 😭
How compare with motion+??mr Alan?
already done, check past videos
0.45 vs 0.43 anyone?
oluv says sounds the same to him 🤷♂️
Sounds the same, i have also tried it
Oluvs fired up from Earfun. Now it's time to raise JBL😈. Someday i will enter as Engineer of JBL Professional, next company will collapse is Devialet ☠️👇
watch this space...........
So I have 100£ to buy a outdoor speaker what would to buy with that ?
try watching some of my videos then make a decision 👍👍
How can you tell what firmware the speaker you receive is on!?
Its right there at the top of every audio clip
Sold out everywhere except in the US. Not an option for everyone outside the US.
Sold out or not on sale? There is a big difference
0.45 is better having depth, and smoothness.
0.50 was not necessary.
Oluv made great speaker at this price point but there was no need to get provoked by the people, he himself a great sound engineer.
0.50 going scratchy in maximum tracks but it will sound good in accuastic music only.
he is not a sound engineer you know that right? he has never worked in the music industry outside of some homemade music he published himself.
Oluv to be poached by soundcore in the transfer window are the rumours I've heard.
Ive heard its a free transfer 😢
Interesting, never heard of something like that, so why is he not being pay by Earfun now?
Oluv heavily tuned it or shall we say inspired it from the Denon Envaya DSB 250 BT
0.45 is best for critical listening while 0.50 is best for every bass lover or the average consumer. I'll stick to the 0.45 as its nearer to denon envaya dsb250bt
uboom l sounds nothing like the denon 250 imho
They ruined it. Oluv must be crushed.
considering he says they stopped paying him, yup he probably is 🙈
Complete bollocks, looks like they shafted him 😒
@@johndoe-vc1we yup
uboom (take the) L
oh L!
Yep! Uboom is a loser. Ill never ever gonna buy that speaker ever since oluv made a bad remark about me. He broke my heart when he turned on soundcore motion plus and because a sell out for uboom earfun speaker 😢
And speaking what my plan, in the case of Motorcycle. Devialet phantogs it's like Suzuki Hayabusa. And Kawasaki it's like JBL. Now Kawasaki they released large displacement motorcycle which smashed Busa away, the Zx14r supersport ☠️ and i will do the Same 😈 Devialet should preparing to collapse ☠️
I want whatever you are on 😁😁😁
@@alanrossreviews please support my plans, i don't want to kicked out if once i can get as Engineer of JBL Professional 🙏
you have my support, 110% 👌
Yeap wee friends together, I'm sorry in what happened in the past😔
Charge 5 WiFi will release sooner☠️ nothing impossible in our lifetime 🔥 just wait for Everest and Live family 👊 Everest coming up in the way future to destroy Devialet, and Live for those fans of upper boosted speakers like the hyperboom. More like muscle crystal clear natural destroys HiFi😈
wishlist or you know something?
This is my plan, if i will enter.
Everest:
Seismax
Stigma
Alpha
Delta
Beta
Live:
Bulletmax
Shockwave
Supersonic
Typhoon
Falcon
Nova
Micro pro
Micro.
Turnado 5 inch sub
Magnitude 8 inch Sub.
I hope if i will enter as Engineer, i would not kicked out or fired up.
at least you have a plan 😁
@@alanrossreviews yeap, this will be my revenge to Devialet, also some stupid company copying design.
when you bought the rtx 4090 and you want to show off so you put your computer on the video for no reason:
when your computer needs a windows re-install so you have to use the table with the least use in the house
@@alanrossreviews oh yeah that was joke
for me no joke, spent a fortune on top of the line pc and the f^&king thing has been unstable as hell 😭
@@alanrossreviews yeah sorry for that
its all good, i know you are joking 😁
Oluv frimware is 0.43 😂
And 0.45 and 0.48
This video is scrap. You don't explain how to get the actial ststus of the firmeare and how to download new firmware.
im useless!
@@alanrossreviews you are of course not useless, but the video is really useless. sorry for saying that. It is just my opinion.
@@thepanda1980able no i think you are right. I hang my head in shame.
Too much nonsense talk.
Thank you 👍
