Got two of these hooked up in stereo mode. They sound awesome, but they shipped with a new firmware (ver .50) that I wasn't so impressed with (not tuned by Oluv). I had to flash it using a windows pc and "downgraded" it to v. .48 and then it sounded much better. Also tried version .43 and they are both much better than the version it shipped with. It can be a slight hassle, but was worth it and the tools were available from the EarFun website.
You need to update the firmware on the speaker to get the true tuning on the speaker also, Oluv is from Austria not Australia lol. I totally agree, I believe it should have an app.
Have you have you updated the firmware of this Uboom L? Update the firmware definitely better: increased low bass freq, wider soundstage, more balance, and smoother treble
After watching you look for a button it looks like EarFun needs to put some sort of colors or glow in the dark paint around the buttons. $80 doesn't sound to bad either. Congrats on 20,ooo subs Brannon.
Yes, kinda of the opposite of JBL. But for those that don’t like treble, I guess this is an alright speaker for the money. I found it a little boxy muffled sounding. Very bland and not very engaging. Not really fun for my ear to be honest. And I tried all of the firmwares. I much prefer my Bose Flex (but played on its back with the position IQ boosting the treble). Hanging vertical has a good sound too.
Hello, I have 2 speakers UBoom L and there is one thing I wish to change - how to switch of the voice "low battery" and the sound of switching on/off. It is very annoying to be awaken at 3am by the synthetic voice telling you to charge your speaker. By JBL it is POSSIBLE to turn this option of, and speaker is silent, when you turn it on/off. I'd be grateful for the solution. Best regards.
Best option on the market in this size category. Very well balanced and defined sound over the whole frequency range whats really rare! TWS works absolutely fine but keep in mind that Low Latency Mode does not work in TWS. ℹ️

Received mine today, was really dissapointed with the sound quality. Yes I've updated the firmware but compared to my old jbl charge 2 it was so bad. missed a lot in the highs and as my parents said it sounds like there is a towel around the speaker. Gonna send it back to amazon tomorrow, all in all really dissapointed... (Edit) I had made a recording to check the frequencies, my jbl had a rol off from 16/17khz while the uboom had a harsh cut at 11khz. Just my unit that's bad or something else?
@@ej1025 I also figured this out today, had almost given up until I checked the Bluetooth settings and it was on HD audio aac. After turning that off it was so much better
Great Review! I have subscribed. I am going to keep an eye on EarFun. I first ran across Oluv's/ClavinetJunkie's reviews and comparisons on RUclips around 2014. His reviews are so thorough and incredible, he has a real passion for what he does. I would recommend taking time to watch his video reviews/comparisons because he goes into so much detail. I am glad to see that Oluv is involved with EarFun, I am sure his input will make this product very successful. I still have and use one of the speakers Oluv reviewed in 2014 - the Sony SRS-X3. 8 years later this is still sounds great and it's still one of my favorite speakers out of the bunch I own.
Like always, another great review. I wouldn't mind picking one of these up to try out, as I really like their wireless earbuds. Especially when you factor in the price to quality... so damn good.

I'm watching this with Uboom L latest 0.4.5 firmware. 😬 just got this speaker 2 days ago. I think the latest firmware a lot better, 0.4. 3 firmware is too bright for my taste.

I much prefer my Flex over this speaker and I tried all the firmwares. Just found it has a cheap boxy sound with flat vocals and treble. Drums and cymbals don’t sound as good either when a song has a lot of other instruments being played. Two of them would just make it a louder version of that.
The Maxsound Plus sounds pretty neutral but has less bass and doesn't sound as good at real loud levels. The EarFun Boom L sounds best I think with the .4.3 firmware. Was not that impressed with the .5.0. firmware it is shipping with now. I ended up buying two EarFun's and they sound great in stereo mode. They are also better for low volume listening. The Tribit volume doesn't have as many "steps" for listening at lower volumes- hard to find a volume that is not too quiet but not too loud sometimes. I like my EarFun better than the Tribit overall (as long as the EarFun has the correct firmware).
I agree Flex and Flip are the best, I prefer the Flex (particularly on its back). But confused how you found the highs sharp. I found it quite flat. Too flat. JBL highs are sharp.

Nice speaker, the thing i noticed is it lacks highs(very noticeable even against cheap $30 speakers), otherwise a solid speaker for the money.

You don't have it on AAC mode on Android do you? Mine sounded horrible until I switched it to SBC.

Very annoying and sharp highs, extremely unpleasant sound. Sounds as a cheap speker. Bose Flex and Flip 6 are still the leaders in this weight class.
