Glad to see you started your own channel, it will be cool to see what you guys turn out. These old Pontiacs can run hot, especially if its warmed over. It's a chunk of $$, but might be worth it to you. Keep the videos coming, we appreciate the hard work

That Firebird brings back memories of my buddy’s 73 TA with a 455 SD that was a bad car back in those days. Ole Bull Moose (nick name given to him because he was stronger than a Moose) was a huge Pontiac builder back in those days. He had some cool rides back in those days and still builds cars to this day. He even had a Ford pickup with a Pontiac engine in it.

@OKspeedandcustom I looking forward to it slick, do you plan on patching up the holes in the firebird floors and doing a whole interior someday? My chevelle never had much of an interior either lol the buckets where the most valuable part.
Awesome video Slick….. I really wish I could get into this kind of work. I was at a structural steel shop for a little while. And I was being trained to wield but idk exactly what happened. A manager kept having me move tons of steel that I beveled. From one spot to another for no other reason than to make me do it and this went on for about 2 months. Finally I told him no and he let me go as well as the older guy that was training me. Essentially it boiled down to factory drama…… problem is that is the only “factory setting” in this area I have found that will hire people off the street. Why does it have to be that way in the welding world. Lots of drama old timers not wanting to train the next generation. Anyways didn’t mean to get into a pity party about the industry. This video just reminded me of my welding lessons for 5 months. Keep up the great work I truly admire your skill bud.
@@OKspeedandcustom I’m not gonna give up just yet. From what the others said I was a natural at welding. They said I picked it up really quick and since I wasn’t afraid of the heat I probably would be good at it.

Hello Slick50 from Kentucky. Just wanted to let you know that I subscribed to your RUclips channel and was great seeing Wild Bills project on the last video I believe. I retired from a state government equipment repair facility in which I was the Welder/Fabricator for many years in which I worked on a very wide range of projects. Fabrication of frames could be very problematic without a proper way to control warping that usually required a large number of clamps and bar clamps in my case. Hope all of you have a great Labor Day weekend.
Howdy! 🤠 Wild Bill will be back!!! This frame was welded together on a frame table with a jig. It was only removed to weld a few areas that was unreachable on the frame table. It was 99% welded in the jig, and double checked with accurate measurements when finished up. Thank you for watching! Glad you found us. Sounds like you are no stranger to fabrication!
@@OKspeedandcustom I used to do basically the same exact things that you were doing with the frames at my work facility that I would fabricate for many different pieces of equipment and or projects. For my Tig Welding, I used the Tig 300 Lincoln for welding aluminum and never did really weld anything steel with the tig welder. I did push to get a liquid cooled tig torch assembly which was a whole lot cooler on the hands than the air cooled Tig torch. The liquid tig torches were not without worry in that you had to really be careful not to burn pinholes into the hollow tubes that the distilled water circulated through or not place anything that could fall down and sever the cooling tubes which were hard plastic - Don’t ask me how I know that for a fact because water was going everywhere which is definitely not what you need especially around a Tig welder. In the days before I got the Mig & Tig Welders at my disposal at work, I have made weld repairs with OxyAcetyline brazing tips and coat hangers. We had a 1985 Ford F-750 dump truck in one of our more rural counties to overturn into a rather deep creek bed in which the cab was badly crushed. One of our road mechanics went to our central salvage yard and found the uppermost portion of the cab. I had to cut the mangled portion of the cab and do a whole lot of measuring as well as the portion of the cab from the salvage yard. As luck would have it, I knew an older guy who lived near me in whom by pure luck stopped by a small general store where I happened to be after getting home from work. I explained my dilemma and what I was expected to do with the cab. Pretty much what his response was to me to do lots & lots of measuring and that the success of the repair would revolve around how well the front & rear windshields fit. He told me that once that I got the windshields fitted up to tack weld both pieces of the cab together and pull the windshields out and weld the cab together. The cab turned out much better than everyone expected and the truck had no issues with windshield breakage with the truck lasting a few years until it was turned in due to age for the equipment auction. The OxyAcetyline brazing tip and copper clad steel filler rods were also what I preferred to use when I was re-welding the broken weld seams on the large hydraulic tanks that were mounted on the John Deere tractors with the 21 foot boom arm type mowers for right of way mowing. So with mentioning OxyAcetyline and brazing tips and such, I guess maybe I might be considered as a “Old School Welder” although I enjoyed playing around with the new technology welders and plasma cutters.
