OMORI - TOTAL CONTROL BUG (almost)

- This glitch was found by hat_kid on the Omori discord.
I don't have access to the console version of Omori, so I've instead recreated the conditions using the debug console mod: mods.one/mod/console
This means not everything will look exactly as it does in the base-game, but should be close enough for most purposes
It should be mentioned that some of these are not Omori specific, but part of a plugin Omori uses. There's also plenty more text stuff I didn't show in the video, check this link for more info: github.com/Gilbert142/gomori/...
There's \caseEval{e?x:y} that literally runs javascript code, so if {, }, ?, and : were added as valid characters and we had infinite length names then we would technically have total control. Maybe it's a stretch to say it's almost a total control bug but details schmetails

That's actually intentional! It's from one of the neutral endings, and symbolizes omori being "in control" over Sunny and making him do it, if I recall correctly

@Ray Sharrow I'm pretty sure you're called by your names many times after that, which would instantly send you to black space. From what it seems, the stab one is the one which allows you to do the most skips, or maybe the day one, for the hikkikomori route since the days are pretty short, and quickly turn to night, where SOMETHING will probably call you by your name, making you immediately wake up the next day.

I feel like this is somewhat intentional as an easter egg. There’s no way the answer to the universe was just randomly in the game.
U never know maybe they were bored or something so they just randomly added it in and it was never supposed to be used.
I don't know how gamemaker works (or whatever the engine used to make omori is) but my theory is that those names are commands that are used to trigger events in game and so every time the name is said, the game will think it is a command and will make the event that whatever the command is set to happen

@@dragonfenix9080 it's an unused animation from an unused segment where Mari accompanies you to Basil's house to enter black space rather than you just jumping in.

it's like something that is on sunny's person gets "bricked up" and heals everyone each time he hears himself.
So basically one of the commands allows omori in the real world to summon his friends straight out of the shadow realm out of nowhere
this gave me an idea: an au where if sunny stabs himself, he just respawns on the first night before three days left.
How mice of something they proclaim there love to you by healing you how could you hate them

I have no idea what you mean by exploit, there's a ton of different meanings you could assign to it. Bug on the other hand is clearly understood by everyone, so it makes more sense to use it.
Not to mention that no matter how you define exploit, it doesn't change the fact that this is a bug. It could be both a bug and exploit depending on your definition, but it's still a bug
@ITR with the self cheat guide mod, you can change Sunny's name with up to 15 characters, would this add anything special with more commands?
\com only goes up to 999 I believe, though most of them aren't used. You might be able to set a var or run some js though

Hey! I played around with /com[9] in Faraway town and discovered that you can actually go into Aubrey's house earlier with it! And also, if you fight anyone with all party members, they will be in battle!
It might be a softlock, but the speedrunners I talked to seemed unsure if they actually tested it so they're gonna check again. Or something like that, everything they're talking about is a bit over my head.
Well, when i tried to skip the day and go to the treehouse earlier, i got softlocked... I couldn't leave the house after entering it
