- "Follow that dream" is a song written by Fred Wise and Ben Weisman and originally released by Elvis Presley on his 1962 extended play record Follow That Dream. For his version, Bruce Springsteen changed some of the lyrics and completely rearranged the song. Originally faster, he slowed it down giving it a dramatic pace. The song was recorded in early 1983 at Thrill Hill West, Springsteen's home studio in Los Angeles, on 30 Jan 1983. He played all the instruments himself, with the help of a drum machine only, and overdubbing to create the final product. The song shares a melody with "Baby I'm So Cold". An early Tracks six-CD sample set from June 1998 indicates that "Follow That Dream" was considered for Tracks, but ultimately rejected.
