I recently bought the game for switch, thx for this tip! I remember level up in the old way trying to survive and move in all directions just to reach the next part of the story

back to the good old days i really wanted to play ffxii but couldnt afford a ps2 so i watched your videos all the time and even downloaded them and put them in my ipod nano lol :D

Have wait mode on, as soon as Phoenix Down kills him, press X to open the comand menu, it will freeze but the loot drop animation doesn't so it gives you extra couple seconds to grab the loot and get out, also as soon as you enter the zone get close to the exit line so that Dustia teleports close to you and the exit, makes it easier. Hope this helps
Thanks for this video. Helped me with picking up the drops in time by using the menu. Always had to choose between keeping the chain or getting the drops before that, but no longer now :)
The Recording Device I use to Record footage from gaming Consoles is Happauge HD PVR, allowing me to connect the console to the laptop via USB cable and record the footage in HD. The device cost 200$ when i got it. Hope this helps.
Nice! I just started playing this game, and I'm about 8 hours into it...just after I get Balthier and Fran back into my party after the Nalbina Dungeon (trying to save the spoilers). Great game, and this will come in handy for when I try a perfect game (maybe). ;)

Just a heads up for those that have purchased or plan to purchase Final Fantasy 12 remake on the PS4, this trick still works. This is literally one of the first things I did after picking up two copies of the game today. My fiance and I are running two PSPRO's on two 4K screens. We are currently racing to see who hits level 30 first.

Its after Penelo joins, You cant edit gambits that early though i didn't use Phoenix Down automatic
@hamster12a you have to exit the section of the westersand before the dustias xp and lp comes up.
I swear, the Final Fantasy series has helped me a lot in business and maths.

Finally! All I see in yt is zodiac age and found this. This'll help me alot. Thanks! (Starting to play this now coz when I was in high school, my friend played this and just call me when its boss time. So I dont really played this on my own lol time to reminisce good times)
I remember power-leveling early in the game, but I don't remember doing this. I kind of remember chaining these two or three werewolves with my Summon, and getting a shit load of levels that way. I know you get a cool Bow from some of the Birds, but in order to beat them, you need to chain the werewolves first. I think that's how it went.

Hi, He will respawn since you move 3 zones away, the merchant is 3 or 4 zones away.
@xAshe10x - No i mean i dont know where he is. Isent nalbina the second town in the storyline? Wich i then need to reach before i can do this?
Or maybe i could get them from the merchant on wester sand maybe...

Just used this to get Vaan to Lv50, game clock is at 11 hours! I used the west-most entrance to corridor of sand and it works just as well. Just to emphasise to people - immediately after confirming to use phoenix down run as close to dustia as you can. I preferred to keep running into him until the loot is received then immediately exit. Also watch out for the rare game monster Fideliant in "The Midfault" area. Keep your stock of potions high so you're recovered making your way back to merchant
Hi Ashe! Just recently watched your walkthroughs for FFXII, but I have one question about zoning and respawning. Does Dustia respawn if I accidently kill him when I visit the merchant to sell the books and the staff?
Hey, I know it has been a long time since you upload the video and the perfect game tutorial, but I need to ask anyway... Do you still know since what moment is better stop leveling with dustia or if you have the patience you can go to 99?

67 hours? Are you kidding me? Props to you, I wouldn't have nearly that amount of patience, if I was going to do this trick the max I would go to is lv20. That'd be enough for me given it's the start of the game but then this is a power leveling trick so I shouldn't be surprised some people get to insane levels with this.

when you use the phoenix down on him make sure you press X so w/e attack bar on and off when looting or exiting
you put it on wait not active, constantly mash x to pause the battle as you're going towards him, and bail fast

Well, I just got out of the place where Bash was, I think it's the East Desert. When I am in Rabanastre, how long do you think do I have to do this until I am a high level? My level now is 9 or around. Do you have besides any other hint how I shall do now to get a higher level?

as mentioned in the video you must zone out before EXP and LP gain shows up or he will not respawn.
Ashe, Which way do you prefer? Leveling in Henne Mines with the Jellies trick or Dustia?

@Schillerzinho But it at Migellos in Rabanastre.
In FXII IZJS you cannot farm dustia if you pick the item it will stop the chain
Still haven't been able to chain this burger, every time I freeze it for to get the loot it never comes near me, and I do be near the border line so I can pop over quick. So what button do you press on either the ps4 or ps2 to be able to do this and get the stuff?

Hi Ashe10, I have another question: can I do the Dustia-leveling after dropping Balthier, Fran and Basch in Rabanastre and get everyone to the same level +2 of Vaan after picking them up again?
Question. I'm planning on starting a new profile so I can refresh my memory. and after playing games like DQ8 and FF1-2 on GBA I'm not dealing with this underleaveled barely making it spamming espers to survive tactic that I was forced to use. so how long will this take to get me to Lv.35-40? since I wanna play the game with breeze but I don't wanna make any of the final bosses of the game a piece of cake, I mainly just want to rush through what I've already played but be at a higher level. I'm willing to put in 25hour max grinding. will it be enough to reach 35 at the least?
another question can you use the zone out glitch to farm the heavy lance off of fideliant?

hello could you explain how this chain thing works like if i kill ten times in a row do i get like more exp and lp? and when i used up all of my phonix down can i go back to town get more and heal and get back to the dustia without killing anything else does the chain still work?
So, why there's no PD at the merchant ? cuz its IZJS ? (Int. Zodiac Job Sys) and how do i get Penelo in Giza as says your guide ?
After you are satisfied with level, (again, level 50+) go to the Giza Plains
and get Penelo.
I find it crazy that this game released only 3 years prior to this video!
Awesome, I had chained around 200 and then I accidently waited for him to die properly :) Now I can continue (I let the PS2 on)

@xAshe10x All right. Thanks. Also, I've done what you said. I beat myself up until my hp was at 2. And the background is all wind and sand and I'm in the right place...but uh, Dustia isn't coming. Did I do something wrong?

I remember one time, while leveling up with Dustia, I forgot to set the battle speed to slow. I went into the Corridor place where Dustia is. I had used a phoenix down on him right on time, because right when I left the place, Dustia had used dark on me, luckily I didnt die. :D
Question: Why does it die if you use a phoenix down on it? Is it like bringing back someone from the dead so the Dustia is revived therefore as an enemy it's dead?
I don't think I needed to put the battle speed in the game to slowest when I chained Dustia. It requires a good timing to Phoenix Down it, but it's entirely possible.
+IsorSOT I retreat after spawning him,. gives me the time he spawns back and then throwing a p down on him is a piece of cake (long as a cockatrice isn't hangin aroun down on the ridge to mess up your aim >.

How often do you save when you chain dustia? I got to like 300 chain and died due to a careless mistake and wanted to know if it's worth not saving to keep the chain.
@sorajord No. He did this before ANYONE joined. Just before you go to see Old Dalahn(sp?) for the first time. Penello comes in later.
yep but Phoenix Downs are only available from a chest in EStersands
I cant find the seeq in front of Nalbina Town to buy pheonix down. Is he in Rabanastre?
The maximum of chain I can do is 12 and when I get What do the dustia drops it no longer appears as I get gil to buy phoenix down? please help me
Lol I remember chaining 150+ wolves and Hyena's in the beginning to start off with 60+ PDowns. Gonna be fun getting early equipment that is OP for the next few areas :)
The video shows how you chain him, just don't touch the save crystal when going back to the merchant to buy Phoenix DOwns, and no you dont need to kill anything to get the monographs, refer to the monograph guide at gamefaqs
For Basch it will work since he haven't joined the party officialy yet but it won't work for Balthier and Fran.
is it possible to save in between leveling? I saw a save point where you buy the PD. if we save, it wouldnt break the chain, right?
yeah you can save but your chain will reset which means less loot from Dustia less gil you making, exp is same tho

Hey ashe, is maybe lvl 55 a good place to stop? I plan on using Negalmuur to level up the rest of the 44 lvls
This save is actually from 2007 from my old account i just remade the video 2 years afterwards in 2009 when my old account got banned
Let's say I'm lvling with dustia while I only have Vaan in my party, when the other characters join me will they also have tons of LP?
Or will they only have a high level?
so lets say you were too slow getting out i time and you saw the numbers. does that mean you have to restart from last save?

i think i will just level up the old fashioned way like my first playthrough on this game. Ahh that was fun. Back in school people used to call me a final fantasy god for my speed of completion and overall amazing end result. I love FF games but my Fav game of all time is KH1

And, following the Part 2+, how do i get Penelo to my team ? cause i had to the Old Dalan's quest to make the PD for Sale in Nalbina town, before that, just after killing the Rog Tomato, there was no PD for sale in any merchant, so i had to do that quest, and before going to the waterway, after Penelo left my party, i started doing that thing, just like says Ahe's Map (in this vid, blah blah blah store house 5).
Imma go ahead and ask a dumb question. Do you have to wait until you have your gambits to do this? Is this before or after you break into the palace?

Why dustia appears and disappears fast for me? I can not catch many levels

Oh, i'm sorry i forgot to say it worked! But just as you said. the first time i had them all to 20 from 14-16, and now i'm going back to try and get them to 30 from 25-26 after finding the three dragons all together in stillshrine hard to beat

I did this once on PS2 and it made the entire game absurdly easy.

Short answer, yes. I was wondering the same thing myself. However, instead of just being lazy and asking everywhere, I spent 5 minutes to test it to find out for myself.

I was wondering did you chain dustia 999 and up? oh and how diid you get all those motes and other loots?
By the way, I was unable to select the Dustia as you did in this video to drop the phoenix down on the mob. So what's wrong with my set up. Thanks.
Finally I was able to figure it out, but it is really hard to get Dustia's drop. Any time I tried to get the drop, I broke the chain. Thus, I decided just to chain them, and later on I will do one at time to get their drops.
+orestesdd orest there is two spots dustia appears the second zone closer to the merchant is the one where it will break the chain 90% of the time bc he spawns too far from the zone entrance. the one right next to the entrance to rabanastre is the one where you can kill loot over and over
