Tryst me western riding is so fun (never rode english) but turning a barrel (haven’t turned it at full speed only walk/trot as im just now starting looks so fun and my sister says it is.
@@Barrel_Racer229 yeah I would love to try it but in my country there is only 1 place in the entire country that does western and it is only trail rides. Plus it is like 1-2 hours away from my house but I’m hoping to go soon.
It’s really fun! You just have to go up and down constantly while trotting which we call posting and you need leads and it’s like you don’t need one saddle for everything you need 1 MILLION kinds of saddles I don’t suggest jumping too much your horse will either-Spook at the jump-Refuse-Just dump you that’s it!
I’ve never done English but personally I choose western all over again it’s been so great made lots of new friends and have the time in my life every weekend
I did both, english is harder because there is the trot where you always need to look at his leg and as i know the horses are getting less freedom than western.
When I use to do horse riding and compete I always did English but I did western a few times and it was a blast I personally love both but i am more use to English💜 Enjoy ur day or night🖤🤍
@@PhoebeStarfly123 not a very good help though. Or you can get a neckrope and they even make saddle handles for the front of your saddle and they clip on
@@SSO_arghwell most of the time there’s a neck rope/neck strap and you can hold that or the mane or the lil crevice in between the saddle pad and saddle❤❤hope th8s helps!
I do English but i would like to try western sometime in the future when i am a bit better at riding. I have only been doing it for a year, so i am going to wait a bit longer before trying something new
In my personality I do western and I like western better but that’s my opinion I just think the part in the front of the saddle it’s a little more safer so if you fell off the front you could hold on
I’ve been riding western since before I could walk lol. Btw wouldn’t you have already decided what you want to do before you find a trainer? Most barns have different trainers for different disciplines ❤
I started out learning English with Western on the side, so I got a good grounding in both. These days I primarily ride Western. I’m learning barrels and pole bending.
I love western! But I have tried English and it’s fun just I’m training in western to be a professional barrel racer so I’m not giving up on western!❤️🐴
I did English for a while when I was younger for some reason that’s how they started me then went to western the the bare back and then back to western which I am doing now but I will ride English in between ❤
Western will always be the coolest thing to me. I’ve been wanting to learn how to ride horses but I live all the way up in the arctic so that’s probably unlikely. We literally have like- a Walmart and that’s the biggest store we have. It doesn’t even have a produce place. Zero chance I’ll find stuff to be able to own a horse
I was doing western my whole life and I was only learning for a short period of time! but I have always always wanted to take English horse back riding lessons and I’m taking them next Wednesday! 3 days!!
English through and through i used to ride Western but ever since I first rode in an English saddle i never went back. I just love the disapline that comes with sitting in the saddle. The only timw i can multitask is when I'm with my horse and English makes multitasking fun because that stupid horn isn't in the way ans i can actually carry the saddle.
Anddd then there’s me who’s a freestyle bareback rider (I do jumping and a few western activities though, but just bareback. Even though I have multiple tack sets for both disciplines.) My horse likes freestyle work so that’s what we do lol 😝
I love English. western is slower ( well in show man ship and other classes) and you have to have one hand on the reins. I think English is simpler and more comfortable.
I might start horse riding I have some experience because my family has horses they have all western stuff but idk what I would want to do! When I go up to see them and ride it’s always with a western saddle that’s just what I’m used to so idk if I should continue western or do English bc both look so fun!!
i always wanted to try western! i only had like one lesson when i was 7 and it was walk-trot but the saddle was so comfortable?! and it was nice that for once the trainer allowed me to give the horse more freedom on the mouth, i always try being gentle and lead with my whole body but for some reason english trainers can't stand seeing the reins even slightly loose
You could’ve at least showcased the western a little better than doing just barrel racing😂 there’s reining, pleasure, and cow work. It just annoys me that people think the only thing in western is barrel racing. (No offense to barrel racers)
You get a choice?? My coach makes me ride bareback. Tbf she let me try the English saddle once and it felt much scarier. Stirrups are horrible. I swear they make me feel like I’m about to fall off constantly.
???you shouldn’t go to a barn that makes you ride bareback and the stirrups made you feel like u we’re gonna fall off? Na they keep you on and it’s not scarier
I couldn’t decide😂 I did. Western for 4 years, but that stables stopped doing lessons so I had to move barns to do English, I’ve been at this new barn for about 4 months-ish!
I do ride English but Western riding looks like a cool thing to try
