- The #AQHAWorldShow is full of excitement and success, but this moment from the senior reining finals at the 2018 Lucas Oil AQHA World Championship Show is sure to warm the hearts and spirits of horse-lovers everywhere.
In the middle of Dan Huss’ run with Ms Dreamy, the bridle broke. Instead of stopping, Dan scooped up the hardware and kept on trucking - making this a once-in-a-lifetime moment on a once-in-a-lifetime horse.
This is also Ms Dreamy’s final run before her retirement. What a way to go out - ears up and all. Развлечения
All horses should be trained off primarily seat and leg. This is just an example of someone who actually correctly trains. Good on him. Beautiful performance.
Not only all horses but all riders. I grew my horsemanship when I first started out by riding in a closed arena and riding with my reins laying down, my hands off of them. Taught me how to ride with my legs and my seat. That was how I got over my beginners mistake of overusing my reins (I started riding late, didn’t start till I was 21).
It’s a skill that every horseperson should master.
@@speed150mph same. I'm only getting into horses now at 17.
I'm old compared to all these people riding at 4 XD
Depends on the horse.
I'll let you test that theory with my leg and seat trained horse...... Good luck using no reins. When he's upset you have no choice and that happens *very* easily

This horse has no signs of hidden stress: no tail swishing, no chomping on the bit, no ears back, no opening the muzzle, no tension in the muzzle... I'm fascinated with her tail hanging down so relaxed the hole time. No reved up emotions.
Great training!!
What a difference to the dressage horses! They look so tense and stressed while competing.
Love it!
It's easy to tell that she actually loves this. 😊
If he dismounted and walked out when the bridle broke no one would have held it against him . To keep going , and to completely nail it , is absolutely inspiring. Love the trust, love the bond, love that he let her scratch her knee. Beautiful.
What a legend...bought me to tears...that is terrific training and an incredible bond
Brought me to tears as well!
Make that 3 of us in tears
I’m late but now there is 4 of us in tears
Make that 5 of us
Number 7 here 🥲
I love how he lets her rub her knees after that spin
That's probably why the headstall got loose too LOL.
@@krist6074 lol
I love how the crowd cheered them on when the bridle fell off. She’s such a incredible mare and it shows how much time and effort he has put into this horse! ❤️
This just proves how much seat training they have
Shyann_ Lavhyon And it proves that horses don’t need bridles
@@monstam8439 you don't think it took years of training to get to this level??
Jean Fish I do think it took years, but it’s fact that horses don’t need bridles to get to this point. The bridles are painful for horses and shouldn’t be used... it’s a shame that so many people are thinking they are necessary for training. But with the right training horses don’t need pain to be trained.
@@monstam8439 Please refer to the Queen of bridleless, bareback reining competition, Stacey Westbrook. She has her own channel on U Tube. Maybe she can satisfy your statement.
@@monstam8439 🤣🤣 We got an expert in everything horse!!! 🙄 Get real.
Proof that horsemanship is a thing
What a great retirement run for Ms Dreamy!!! Ya know what they say, gotta go out with a bang! Great job, Dan. Happy retirement, Ms Dreamy! People will be lining up for miles to get a foal outta this old girl.
Darned if I don't think this amazing girl won't miss competition!!!
Maybe the horse doesn't want to be a broodmare 🙄
@@KatrinaDancer Ah yes, the animal who doesn’t have a prefrontal cortex to decide such a thing can definitely tell you she does or doesn’t want to be a broodmare. Sure, makes sense. Makes the same amount of sense that replying to a 5 year old comment does. Not to mention that most of her foals have been done via recip mare, but go off ig
She's a beautiful mare. She didn't freak when the bridle came off, and not necessarily was it the bit, it was actually the bridle rubbing again her, great lead change and everything, nothing against bit but it's always good to train your horse reining or just a neck rope
There's another video of this particular made where the rider explains that he let's the made do that after a spin cause it keeps her calm.
@@terrisrankin968
Yeah. I watched the video before I saw this video.
more proof of how riding from the seat is EVERYTHING! leg commands, with a light touch and moving our body in the saddle=this! love love love!
He has a better seat and rides with more leg and seat than most FEI Dressage Champions in modern times. Really just a delight to see.
i come back to this video at least a few times a year. i have very little relation to western riding, nor would I ever be able to do something like this. It's just so beautiful to watch. Such a happy, relaxed, well-trained horse. Amazing showcase on how amazingly this horse is trained at home. Huge inter-discipline respect from a dressage rider, hats off
You never know until you try!! 😊
What a great rider, he just picked up the reins so she wouldn't trip then carried on. What an amazingly trained horse she seemed to try harder the more she got cheers.
That’s true horsemanship. ♥️
This is my new favorite reining run ever!
Wow. What an incredible horse and rider. The horse obviously trusts his rider. I wish more people were like this
I think reining shows are my favorite. Everyone roots for whoever's in the ring at the time and the atmosphere is just electric. Amazing horses and horsemanship as well!
I wish I could like this a thousand times.
Speaks volumes about the intelligence of the animal and the trust the rider has learned to develope with the animal. The horse is defintely in charge (do your research) both have found a way to communicate. BRAVO! congratulations, but, no further explotation for profit or personal recognition is needed. Love of horses is pure. Think before you reply. BE GOOD TO YOUR HORSE ALWAYS AND ALL DAYS🐴
Horse looked a lot more relaxed when it was solely the legs and body weight telling her where she needed to go, nice job from the rider for just staying calm and riding on!
That horse is absolutely gorgeous!
What an amazing video. Only proves that bits shouldn't be a requirement for shows.
It’s too bad I’m pretty sure the run didn’t count. He must have been DQ’d, If not for losing the bridle, then for grabbing the reins and bridle with his freehand.
Nonetheless, it was still a fantastic display of horsemanship, and a great ride. It’s clear these two have that bond we all strive to achieve with our horses. Very good show.
Don't know who won, but sure will remember this girl!!
Kate ProudFort the horse is a mare.
Kate ProudFort oh ok lol
Unfortunately I think they were disqualified because of the broken bridle but I sure wish they got credit for finishing a fantastic run
As far as I know they should have been disqualified because of the bridle.
AMAZING RIDE!! especially unexpectedly bridaless!!!!!!!!!
the video title is bridle less reining
@@foonigan3571 unexpectedly bridleless because the bridle broke during the competition. Was not intended to be that way originally, and he was disqualified when he picked it up with his free hand, but of course he had to for the horse's safety. This is not original airing of this competition.
@@suzanneyoung8011 oh yeah i know i was just saying that how is that unexpected? the title says "bridleless reining"
I get emotional watching the beauty of the horse and rider, especially when they are so in sync. Wishing I could ride again 😪 and thanks for the great videos!!
She looks so relaxed in her moves.
Just proves that riding is all in the legs and if you have an awesome connection with your horse it’ll listen no matter what.. This is real horsemanship guys! If your horse isn’t listening try to understand why..
Love it- horse loses its bridle and doesn’t miss a beat!! Beautiful ride!✨❤️✨
Absolutely beautiful! I can personally appreciate the training and skill of the rider AND horse. Truly poetry in motion!
I’ve watched this countless times - GREAT mare & Rider!! Goosebumps!!!
Congratulations horseman. You did a great job with your horse. So amazing horsemanship.
That is some incredible horsemanship. That’s truly what the industry needs.
He was my college colt training instructor at University of Findlay.
This brought a lump to my throat, how incredible. What horsemanship and massive credit to horse and rider - I am so emotional!!
There is nothing like a good mare💗
Gives me chills and tears.
WOW! an amazing Mare! and a great rider! the lead change was effortless!❤
It's so awesome how this horse was trained mainly off of seat and leg. I think that's the way to go if you train a horse :)
And he knew he got disqualified once he grabbed the rein with both hands. He was just doing it out cause it was her last run and showing off. Badass
I just love how everybody is cheering ♥️
True horsemanship ❤
the bond they have is amazing! true Horsemanship in its pure glory! this is what you get when you understand each other as Horse and Rider, you both think as one!
That’s A Bond Right There.!
This my go to video when I need smile & reminded NEVER to give up
WE NEED MORE OF THIS !!!!!
Very impressive. Great performance ❤😊
That was absolutely AWESOME!
Im glade he let the horse scratch :)
and hes so good with and without a bridle
I just love this style & what a great ride..
This is just proof that you really don't need anything but confidence and persistence
Absolutely incredible!
I cannot believe that he got disqualified
What judge would DQ this ride, the judge would be drummed out of town.
He only got DQ cause he put that second hand down. But I do agree he shouldn't have been
@@Boop_noodle8537 he has to, his horse would have stepped on it :(
Wow. Truly amazing.
Wow amazing. That Shows a great Trainer and a Really Good Team!!
Okay that is just WOW!!! Really great❤️
This is BEAUTIFUL
Amazing without bit! Keep it up!!!! :D look at that bond between them!!! Took my breath away really
Looked much happier when the bit came out!!
This is awesome!
Absolutely incredible riding!
Dis so beautiful to watch!
The horse didn't like that correction bit anyways, awesome run! this will be talked about for a long time
No horse likes bits :)
I see where you're coming from about bits being a pain-compliance training aid however, bits are necessary when you have a horse performing at this level. Believe it or not, some horses love their bits.. Ms Dreamy did not though.
And the whole hackamore thing, They are terrible, I've seen many horses with the bridge of their nose crushed because of the amount of pressure they apply.
Moral of the story here is, stop deciding what is best for your horse.....a truly exceptional horse-person knows this, and tries many different bits until they find one the HORSE LIKES....
@@MilfEnjoyer924 I sayed >>NO
@@TheNCcope Nope horses don't need bits to perform at this level, they just have to wear it because of a stupid rule in every sports horses are involved. Who still uses hackamore (there are good hackamore too)? You can buy lots of bitless bridles out of leather. I for example, use a normal halter.
Explain to me the entire process of getting a horse to perform at this level with no bit, because I call b.s.
Explain to me how to get a horse to rate your seat, tell me how to shape the horse for a correct lead departure, tell me the cues for a flying lead change for reining and dressage.
If you don't use bits then surely you don't use spurs or dressage whips or any training aids at all....if you made a video series you would be a millionare, why are you wasting your breath talking to a bit-using, horse abuser like myself?
I am in love with this horse.... awesome.... worth a fortune... I want this mare
Настоящий профессионал своего дела. Я восхищена. ❤
Amazing Dan !!!
Now this is a great example of a great horse, a great rider, correct training and and incredible bond. This bought me to tears because I just love how even tho he got disqualified for having both hands on the reigns, they carried on together and did almost a perfect run with basically just a neck rope! Great Pair!!!
A master horseman!!! Awesome job! No hate on people who use bits but this just proves that you can do anything bitless that you can with a bit! It’s awesome that this was the way this mare retired- she went out with a bang!
Great feeling! Super!
Beautiful!!! 🐴
an inspiration to my riding 💜
AMAZING RIDE!!
That’s a good horse there. Calm, but extremely responsive.
Freaking incredible horse and rider.
Love this!!
I love how he let his horse scrach
You can't do any better than that😁🙏🕊
Why did i have to cry tho? 😭❤️
That’s pretty awesome.
Sad that it was his last ride but amazing ride
Last ride?
@@EloquentlyEquestrian the horses last competitive ride....they are retiring the horse.
2 Equestrian Girls he got second at WEG in the individual finals on this horse. I was there.
AMAZING!!!
👏👏👏
INACREDITÁVEL!
Beautiful
That's what a good rider looks like
He knows his job very well and has a good connection with his trainer, just like the guys from 310 to ranch life.
Que animal esplêndido, muito bem treinado,Deus abençoe sempre os bons treinadores.
Esse cavalo é diferente de tudo!! Muito top
Who dislike the video wtf
Now THIS is what a world camp looks like.
He has an incredible seat
yeah, great 🤩 👍
YES YES YES AND MORE YES
Very good
This is amazing horse and showmanship!! You know the only reason he got a 0 is because he went to 2 hands!
Wow!
Saludos amigos
Proud
I can’t even control my horse with a bit OOF
More groundwork. A lot of people don't realize if you lunge or round pen a horse with no bit on the halter/hack/bridle, you can ride the horse without a bit.
@@keeslover777 but don't forget to mention that spurs now have to be used ;D
Arizona succulent no they don’t
Wow!!!!!!!!
