I don’t know how you can have any dislikes on this video, they’re clearly uneducated people. I train dogs, and I’m actually looking to try a couple things with my horse. You’ve done everything great, showed the horse all the links in the chain and set them up to win. Fantastic trainer, and with those strategies you could train an mammal
Uneducated? Someone who starts name calling because others don’t agree with something you do has obviously not excelled past high school or you wouldn’t be training dogs. I think making any animal do tricks is unnatural and I did my undergrad at Columbia so I guess I’m uneducated too?
@@dinasanchez-ex5gian education at Columbia would have taught you enough to know that is not name calling. Absolutely outstanding explanation, this is the best method I have come across by far! Using the horses natural lay down procedure they slowly understand what you ask and without force. Without using force they respect and trust you, (Or continue to rather) other then feel submitted to having to do it. A very good demonstration of pressure and release. Thank you! You must have some horses that would jump into the gates of hell with you; trust level with these techniques.
Nestle (My mare) is finally getting it! It's only been 2 days of working with her, and she is licking and chewing and already drawing her back feet closer and popping her legs! I am so proud of her and i just wanted to thank you for the info for the lay down! ❤🙂
This is the first time I have ever ever commented on a RUclips video and its because I was so impressed. Very good video! Not a lot of jabbering. Easy to understand instruction for me as a person and great step by step breakdown to help the horse understand. Aware of what is good and natural for the horse, etc., etc. Nice job young lady.
I really liked how both the horses in this bideo remain calm and concentrated throughout the whole time. No resistance. Also, the appear to be really comfortable on the ground.
You know, when I was 6 (in 1960) I got my first horse. He was stabled at a riding school outside of the city I lived in (in Denmark). All the horses were standing in stalls, tied in their halters, 24/7 when not being ridden, in other words up to 23 hours a day for some. That was considered normal, and I certainly didn't know any better. He was actually one of the lucky ones, because I got to take him with me for the summer to the country, and he'd spend his days in a grassy field with cows. When I think back on that, I feel ashamed on behalf of all of us. Now I watch people all over the world coming up with paddock paradises and what not, to improve the way their horses live (we can't all have 100 acres in the Mid-West), and I watch more and more young people like you, training horses with sense, sensibility, patience and understanding. It gives me some hope for the future of horses in this world.
You put that so well! Where I grew up we all rode with curb bits as kids( see all the old cowboy movies), very little training was needed for horses to give in to the constant threat of pain. Now people are training their horses with patience and love and riding bridless! That would have been unfathomable back then. So much progress has been made, so many talented younger trainiers willing to share their knowledge, like this young woman.
This is super helpful. I love that your techniques are all about communicating with the horse in a way they understand instead of forcing them into it in your way. I also love the release. It's so important to have a release or a break when the horse does the right thing!!
Just found this video, and what a pleasure it was to watch how you worked with your horses, there is a gentleness and level of understanding and intuition that some people just have with horses,it is a blessed gift, and you my dear, certainly have it 🥰 what a joy and blessing your horses are to you,and you to them!
Absolutely outstanding explanation. I am a beginner and still trying to understand A LOT about horses, my horse, care and health. Your video is so easy to understand and gave me confidence that I can achieve my goals. You also gave me some ideas how to set up my round pen and paddocks. Thank you so much. I was ready to subscribe to your video the moment you started to talk. I look forward to more lessons from you. Thank you young lady. Superb job.
This is so much nicer then the rope version. I've never liked the idea of tying the horses leg so they get imbalanced and lay down. It doesn't teach them anything and could potentially hurt them if done wrong. I also imagine it could make them panic or feel unconfident. This seems like a much kinder and more beneficial way to teach them to lay down.
Started the steps on my Little mare: she has head down now plus tapping on belly... and right front hoof lifting.. will continue your great instructions for the rest of steps.. no worries ..lots of fun too . Much appreciated !
i am going to try this for the next couple of weeks on my welsh pony. I'm so exited to train him more! (he can already stretch both feet and shake his head.
I am so happy that people like this still exist. I am buying a mare right now that I have been riding for the past year in lessons, I actually almost lost because she was going to be sold to Texas. No I am excited to teach her the lay down, mostly to teach her that she can be calm since she was abused at 3-5

I have been working on this for weeks on my mom's mare and its awesome! She does every single step but is too shy to lay down quite yet. So cute to see her drop her head and flick her back legs when i just bow to her!
I loved the softness and how clearly it was broken down and explained to the horse - and it was explained very well. We can really see the releases and how quick and light they are, and the horses are so relaxed in their lessons. Part 2 please
U really helped me with my horse called Romeo he a Welsh but not like the rest now he knows how to lay but now is comfortable and he knows he can get up if he wants Xxx
You are so calm and patient, lovely relationship. I want to teach my horse to lie down this winter and hope he will respond to this method. I use clicker training with him and he loves the clarity of the yes button. He is a smart horse who can open latches and gates and figures things out quickly. Once, my hat fell off and he bent down, picked it up with his teeth and handed it to me. Anyway, thank you for this. You are so talented and smart!
I've been trying to stumble my way through something like this method for months now, with very little and very very slow progress. This is really well explained and demonstrated and incredibly helpful - I feel so much more like we can finally get this some day this year (hopefully) because I have so much better of an idea how to coordinate the different components of what to ask for, as well as what to be looking for and how to give the reward and release. I'm so grateful I found this - now hopefully my own clumsy attempts before this won't set us back too far when trying to teach him better!
Okay so I just found your video and I am already motivated to try step one with my 26 years old Icelandic 😍 (If only for him to relax his head and neck) Love how you explain every single tiny step!
VERY well done, Sam. I have a new, very active big mule that I will use your method on as soon as the snow leaves. She is 15.2+ and I am old and short. I will teach her to stretch to be able to get on, but I want her to lay down on her belly for mounting also. It is for safety in the woods in case I get hurt and can't mount her in normal ways. You have provided the solution for me to teach her without hassling her into it. Can't wait 'til spring!
Very nice video. I am looking forward to parts 2 & 3. My horse gathers his hind legs, pops his knees, then just stands there. Sometimes he will paw. I now try to be standing near him when he rolls after a ride so he will be confident with my presence. Looking forward to more tips! Thank you for posting.

It was my first time watching, I am totally amazed watching and listening to you. A lot of horse trainers on RUclips are loud and hyper. I will definitely be slam watching all your videos.😁😁😁😁
I’m so impressed with this technique, you’re thought process, how you explained it, and the gentle horsemanship displayed. I am not easily impressed. Wow! Brilliant

This video is super helpful! I just got a horse and I want to work with him on this. Thank you for the slow talking too.😁
I haven't started doing this yet but I'm determined to teach this to my horse. Thanks for the video 😄
Superb, simple calm centered, all in once
Very good video!! I love how you explain each step very well. Can't wait to see the next video!!😊🐎👌
In order to teach a horse you must first understand the horse.
Twilightwolf me and my horse had a conection since yesterday finallyyyy but my bestfriend wants to buy it 😓 NOW
Walk with the Shadows, friend.
Get to know the horse, introductions, find out dos and donts and establish that bond of comfort abilities
Well I'm not doing that until bits are outlawed

Wonderful instruction. Brilliant. Love your work. Bless. ❤
Very well explained. thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the video super helpful. I just couldn’t find a part 2. Just wondering if you have done one?
Can’t wait to try this on my boy!
I'm happy I found this I tried telling the trainer at my stable I wanted to teach my pony to lay down and he started scaring my pony with all these ropes, yelling and getting angry which pissed me off personally because when I teach him tricks I do it over years now one hour using fear and force and pushing him to the ground
It was my first time watching, I am totally amazed watching and listening to you. A lot of horse trainers on RUclips are loud and hyper. I will definitely be slam watching all your videos.😁😁😁😁
Thank you, I will watch many more times until I completely under stand.
I’m so impressed with this technique, you’re thought process, how you explained it, and the gentle horsemanship displayed. I am not easily impressed. Wow! Brilliant
Love your method can't wait for the next videos
Incredibly useful. I can't wait to try it.
Beautiful sharing technically
Thanks for the great video and on depth break down of the steps. Just one super basic thing: the knee is part of the hind leg. Not the front leg.
Wonderful training video!
I am going to try this method with my horse, he is quite a handful, i will let you know how it goes!
those horses look so content and happy. You are amazing at training them :)
As always, such good stuff,. Thank you
