Watching this a year later I can see how you got Hunter involved. That is how you learn. Classrooms can only do so much but hands on is where it’s at. I can say when I was his age, I would have been super excited to help like this.
Yes it is too bad we cannot push the heart button for some of these finger up comments. One of the great things about this channel working with employees and his children and wife as well. Not to mention all we learn.
Very awesome and very thorough enjoy as always Your boys definitely are learning so much very nice to see this these days Id give anything to have my dad back to show me masonry work I know he is laughing from above When he sees me stumbling with something I didn’t pay attention too
Hunter is in the best classroom, one on one instruction from the best with no distractions from others in the lab. This is the real world , problem solving , manufacturing tools and equipment as needed. My hats off to you Clint !
Hunter is getting a free premium education from Clint and it's priceless even if he chooses a different path in life he will still have this in his back pocket
We are all human which means we make mistakes . Great job Hunter is definitely learning a whole lot from a real good teacher. Excellent educational video Clint.
Just love to see Hunter so interested in learning and willing to help with his Pop. That's a special relationship right there. My son had no patience to even learn to change the oil in a car or do a brake job. Envious.
Clint, each time I watch your videos you impress me with your vast knowledge. I’m super impressed in your patience with Hunter and also Kevin sharing knowledge with action, also the ability to have a bit of fun in the process. Love your videos and channel 👍👍
The only guys that can hang with Clinton are @kt3406E, my favorite Oklahoma boy and Caterpillar afficianado, and western tractor repair, nobody else even comes close. Encyclopedia with feet is all I can suggest. I'm glad your boys aren't afraid to get stuck in and work, the learning process is priceless. Have a nice Friday night.
I ENJOY THE VIDEOS WHEN YOU AND HUNTER WORK TOGETHER. WHEN A SON WORKS WITH HIS DADDY, THAT'S BETTER THAN ANY TECH CLASS HE CAN TAKE. YOU CAN TEACH HIM MORE ONE ON ONE!!👨👧👦
This is one heck of a video from start to finish, so two cups of coffee and a couple of snacks later I feel like I'm a certified John Deere mechanic 😂. Thanks Clint and Hunter.
I've enjoyed this series on multiple levels. The quality of explanation, your thorough discussion and most of all the father and son team doing the rebuild. Good job, strong work Dad! I'm glad I found your channel.
Love how you are teaching Hunter step by step how to do things. If they WANT to learn. Teach them. There are no bad students, just bad teachers ( which you are not ).
Your lad will always remember building this engine with his father, he's learning so much here. Nice job Clinton, I like your standards. I didn't know if liner protrusion needed to be checked/set/shimmed. Thanks for the great video, much appreciated.
51:13 Working on a customer's 01 Cherokee 4.0L, Engine rebuilt 1st step I come across says using special tool for front cover alignment. Same situation I lightly installed the front cover then put the balancer in to align the seal. Tightened all the bolts I could access (5 out of 7) and removed the balancer and tightened remained, then reinstalled. Maybe better than the special tool nobody has.
Hunter will never ever get such a great one on one experience teaching in the world as he has with Clint absolutely priceless and it's costing him absolutely nothing ZERO just great father and son time together and that makes it absolutely priceless and Hunter will be sharing his own life experience, skills and expertise and stories with his great grandkids, to Client and Hunter I tip my hat to the 2 of you. I wish I had a dad like Hunter has, my dad never ever actually allowed me to be near him when he was rebuild engines I was only given the cleaning jobs and that's it nothing more. Hunter take pride in everything that comes from your old man you will never ever get any better experience teaching anywhere else but exactly from your old man and the respect that is between the two of you are absolutely key in life and priceless too. ❤this channel.
Great video Clint and Hunter! I'm impressed with the level of care you are taking and your thorough explanations. There are not many videos over an hour long that I would sit and watch all the way through. Keep up the good work!
the injector deal wasn't a screw up it was a little test to see who caught it. and paying attention. I just love how well you and your sons work together. The apprentice and master do it again. Well done.
Clint, Hunter, truly a joy watching you guys work together. Said it before but there is nothing any better than working Father and Son team. Especially someone as knowledgeable as Clint. Weird not seeing Kevin with you but you have a couple of good young men in your boys to work. Says a lot about their upbringing sir. Thank you again for the channel.
I really enjoy your engine rebuild videos, the attention to detail and care you show for your future customers. It's a family engine build and you are showing your boys good directions. Always fun on my Friday afternoon, good with an afternoon wobbly pop. Thanks for the fun!
Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing the ins and outs of the " putting -back the -parts " section. Hope there are no extra parts or nuts and bolts left! Thanks again.
Well done Clint and Hunter - the master and the apprentice - the next video should be as informative as this one. Looking forward to seeing the dozer operational again soon.
Another excellent video Clinton, you keep raising the bar! (What Clinton DIDN'T show us was his trip to the office for a Tylenol and Peptobismol after deciphering that torque sequence for the head!!!) Keep the old man inline there Hunter, handle him like you do them wrenches!
FYI, the best thing to use on hard bolts busted off is an endmill smaller than the bolt used in a mill run under 700 rpm. Use the dark cutting oil, same as used for threading gas pipe as it has sulfur in it and lubes well while cutting out the old bolt. I do many get it outs every week at work. Great job building this engine!
Great job Clint and Hunter and great content showing us what's required to rebuild the engine. It's really cool Hunter is interested and he's going to be an expert in no time.
Learnt a lot watching you guys rebuild a motor like this. Hunter certainly gets a lot of hands on knowledge working on this sort of stuff. Thanks for sharing.
You and Hunter make a heck of a team. Good looking work. I am glad to see a guy like yourself having patiences with the next generation teaching them things most youngens dont know. Nice work and good video. Hats off Clinton
This is a great series, enjoying watching this, learning a lot from it. Good to see Hunter working along side you, good young man, thanks for the ride along sir.
Again, this brought back many good memories, showing my young techs and the satisfaction in their eyes is something they or I will never forget. No matter what you guys do, it's the right way and done with pride. With the head start Hunter has now, I can only imagine just what he's going to be like in 10 years!
Nice Work! Clinton, ...you are a wonderful teacher! Hunter, hang in there Bud! You have a rare opportunity to be taught by a knowledgeable, patient & gentle soul! A great career!
The machinist I served my apprenticeship under always called me on it when I called an engine a motor. He would say, “motors run on electricity, engines run on fuel!” To this day it still sticks in my craw when I here someone call it a motor! 😊
Clint, you really shine explaining your engine rebuilds.. I bet you could get paid to be a mentor within some kind of apprentice program through your local high school that would give you an extra paycheck plus you’d be doing some kid a great favor
Last Motor I did a complete rebuild on was in the early 80's on a 1954 Hillman Flathead 4 cylinder (UK). Yes, it was petrol, not diesel but same assembly principles and was fun to watch you bringing back a memory and not only the obvious quality work you do but having to mentor Mr. Hunter while overlooking his obvious issues with forgetting stuff (🙂), is priceless. Thank you Sir and keep it coming.
Top notch job , JD should use it for instructional purposes! Hunter will use the knowledge from these builds for the rest of his life…I’m betting not may kids his age have ever seen a cracked rod cap!
Your work ethic is impressive. Your knowledge is amazing. The fact that you have the patience to teach your son without getting mad makes me wish i had the kind of a teacher, Job well done.
When I see you work with Hunter it reminds me of working on engines with my dad. The tricks of the trade you learn at young age will always help you later on to become a master mechanic. Nice watching you rebuild a whole engine.
Great job Hunter. This is an excellent education for him. I would have given anything to work on engines at his age. Kudos to you Clint, you make a great teacher and father. Thanks for sharing.
Great series. Your sons are going to be excellent mechanics and fabricators by the time they go out on their own. It’s good they’re smart enough to ask the questions when they don’t think something is right.
Clint & Hunter, some outstanding suggestions during this rebuild: marking 30* increments on the socket using for tightening sequence. “Use the book” is for ALL of us. Thanks John😊
This episode could easily be used as a Vocational school instruction video that would definitely keep.the students fascinated. Thousands of diesel mechanics are retiring or approaching it so someone out here needs to give it a chance as a teaching aid in their class curriculum.
It is so interesting to watch all the 'bits' removed and put back together to make a working engine. Good to see the instructions being consulted - great learning tool for Hunter, and all of us I would suggest. Excellent work Hunter and Clinton.

Doing valves use to be a problem with me could never tell how to check them you two made that look easy 😮mind blowing 🤯

Hunter performed well good job to Clint for be8ng the right type of a dad, boys need that type of guidance as always I look forward to the next installment
Thanks for taking the time to film a very attention intensive process. It's refreshing to see a young person taking interest in a skilled trade and someone taking the time to teach them. Great video.
Clint, great job of explaining to Hunter and the viewers what and why you were doing it that way on this rebuild, it's great that your son comes in on a Saturday and helps dad out, most kids would flip if ask to do anything on a Saturday your teaching the boys work and responsibility are
I love the attention to detail, making sure things are done right!
Watching this a year later I can see how you got Hunter involved.
That is how you learn. Classrooms can only do so much but hands on is where it’s at.
I can say when I was his age, I would have been super excited to help like this.
So true!
Clint you get one of those Dad of the year awards. It truly does take a patient man to teach a kid what he knows.
Yes it is too bad we cannot push the heart button for some of these finger up comments. One of the great things about this channel working with employees and his children and wife as well. Not to mention all we learn.
Thanks for the kind words
Yea but it’s time well spent
Very awesome and very thorough enjoy as always
Your boys definitely are learning so much very nice to see this these days

When he sees me stumbling with something I didn’t pay attention too
Totaly 100% agree! From Peter Eriksson Sweden Europe ❤❤❤! Thats love! True love!😊😊😊!
Hunter is getting an education that most people aren't lucky enough to ever receive.
Hunter is in the best classroom, one on one instruction from the best with no distractions from others in the lab. This is the real world , problem solving , manufacturing tools and equipment as needed. My hats off to you Clint !

Maybe the best video I have ever seen of an engine rebuild
We are all human which means we make mistakes . Great job Hunter is definitely learning a whole lot from a real good teacher. Excellent educational video Clint.
Just love to see Hunter so interested in learning and willing to help with his Pop. That's a special relationship right there. My son had no patience to even learn to change the oil in a car or do a brake job. Envious.
Your son was probably embarrassed that you expected him to repair a bucket of pus Fraud which was continually broken.
Hunter is probably getting paid for that kind of work.
Or hopefully getting Co Op credits from his high school
Can not comprehend how you remember all those parts and their order. Amazing😊😊😊😊😊😊
Clint, each time I watch your videos you impress me with your vast knowledge. I’m super impressed in your patience with Hunter and also Kevin sharing knowledge with action, also the ability to have a bit of fun in the process. Love your videos and channel 👍👍
I appreciate that!

Glad you enjoyed it!
@@C_CEQUIPMENT I do!!
Clint you never cease to amaze me with your knowledge of all things mechanical!
Nothing like a brand new rebuild motor and done by yourself.
Hunter is going to be hard to teach in school after working with a master mechanic at home. I envy your relationship!
Thanks 👍
You and hunter did a great job rebuilding that engine clint
Very fortunate to have hunter helping with enthusiasm to learn. It’s not always easy working with family.. it’s refreshing and encouraging to see.👍
Getting to built a rather large engine at the age of 14 is quite cool.
51:13 Working on a customer's 01 Cherokee 4.0L, Engine rebuilt 1st step I come across says using special tool for front cover alignment. Great to see you with your son in the shop. Brings back memories oh working in the shop with my dad!
I know that building a engine with family is truly making memories for both of y’all.
This what you call "Things a school can't teach you." A Father is a sons best teacher.
I like the idea of putting a paint dot after each bolt is torqued. Also, I love that Hunter is gaining all this knowledge and experience.
You are the best dad teaching the next generation.I bet Hunter is a better mechanic than most who work at the dealers.
Clint shows how confidence and competence lead to efficiency without compromise
Great video Clint and Hunter! I'm impressed with the level of care you are taking and your thorough explanations. There are not many videos over an hour long that I would sit and watch all the way through. Keep up the good work!
Hunter is getting a real education. He has the desire to learn and the best teacher

Camera in the cylinder was genius!
I really enjoy your engine rebuild videos, the attention to detail and care you show for your future customers. It's a family engine build and you are showing your boys good directions.

That young man will learn more in one day than most will learn in a lifetime. Great video. Thanks for sharing your story.
It's great seeing you train the next generation.

Again, this brought back many good memories, showing my young techs and the satisfaction in their eyes is something they or I will never forget. Great series. Your sons are going to be excellent mechanics and fabricators by the time they go out on their own. It’s good they’re smart enough to ask the questions when they don’t think something is right.
Clint is so smooth. Hunter is getting a great education in the shop. He is very lucky to have such a talented man as his father.
Must have done a few engines with your Dad , Clinton. Expertise comes through in buckets...no words needed. 😁
Clint & Hunter, some outstanding suggestions during this rebuild: marking 30* increments on the socket using for tightening sequence. “Use the book” is for ALL of us. Thanks John😊
Great video Clint. It had the right amount of detail. Hunter is learning alot from the best teacher. Can't wait until it fires up.
