Diva sublime...... Inesquecível ...... Mulher deusa de ébano , a frente do seu próprio tempo......... Ouvir você cantar é te honrar e te reviver a cada instante........... Te amo , te adoro , te venero ...........
Im 48 yrs old and i cant believe this is the first time I heard nina simone sing this....i guess theres more to live for after all thank you Nina Simone, please pardon me for typing this during the performance....
I'm 55 n first time I heard her sing this too. I was listening to Maxwell n old school music n oldies this popped up n I just was amazed how she has her own style on this song. Beautiful...
I wanted to hear this song after reading this book called Harlem On Lock by Karen Williams. This is a very very pretty song. Matches the book perfectly!
There'll be no strings to bind your hands Not if my love can't bind your heart And there's no need to take a stand For it was I who chose to start I see no need to take me home I'm old enough to face the dawn Just call me angel of the morning, (angel) Just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby Just call me angel of the morning, (angel) Then slowly turn away Maybe the sun's light will be dim And it won't matter anyhow If morning's echo says we've sinned Well, it was what I wanted now And if we're victims of the night I won't be blinded by the light Just call me angel of the morning, (angel) Just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby Just call me angel of the morning, (angel) Then slowly turn away I won't beg you to stay with me Through the tears of the day, of the years Baby, baby, baby Just call me angel of the morning, (angel)
"Nightclubs were dirty, making records was dirty, popular music was dirty and to mix all that with politics seemed senseless and demeaning. And until songs like ‘Mississippi Goddam’ just burst out of me, I had musical problems as well. How can you take the memory of a man like [Civil Rights activist] Medgar Evers and reduce all that he was to three and a half minutes and a simple tune? That was the musical side of it I shied away from; I didn’t like ‘protest music’ because a lot of it was so simple and unimaginative it stripped the dignity away from the people it was trying to celebrate. But the Alabama church bombing and the murder of Medgar Evers stopped that argument and with ‘Mississippi Goddam,’ I realized there was no turning back.” Nina in her Autobiography "I put A Spell on You"...
It's enough sadness to last a lifetime when it happens to you. My first one night stand blinded me. He was "going thru a divorce", and I was experiencing my first ever true deep love with a beautiful soul...... I had to turn away with a kiss. 🎀✴️
@@tulayamalavenapi4028 You should write a poem or a short story about it. If it was really a ONE night stand (one by definition, no continuation), then this could be a strong infatuation rather than "true deep love". Although it could have felt that way and who am I to judge your emotions? There are a few moments in everyone's life which we remember until death. There's a nice French song about such a brief encounter: "La Complainte de la Butte". "Angel of the morning" is a woman's song written by a man and captures perfectly this kind of emotions. Besides, I love Nina Simone - she's a sorceress.

Oddly I have only ever heard Nina’s version. What I didn’t realise is that it was written by Jon Voights brother!

There'll be no strings to bind your hands
Not if my love can't bind your heart
And there's no need to take a stand
For it was I who chose to start
I see no need to take me home
I'm old enough to face the dawn
Just call me angel of the morning, (angel)
Just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby
Just call me angel of the morning, (angel)
Then slowly turn away
Maybe the sun's light will be dim
And it won't matter anyhow
If morning's echo says we've sinned
Well, it was what I wanted now
And if we're victims of the night
I won't be blinded by the light
Just call me angel of the morning, (angel)
Just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby
Just call me angel of the morning, (angel)
Then slowly turn away
I won't beg you to stay with me
Through the tears of the day, of the years
Baby, baby, baby
Just call me angel of the morning, (angel)
It was him who started it for me, but I guess angels can me male too. 🍏💔

La classe non è acqua
Bit slow, but love it anyway. X
Original cover
bizarre cover but is passable
This song frustrates me coz there is another black lady who does this song so great. I think she was from Bhudah Records. Anyone who can help me?
I was just listening to P. P. Arnold's version before coming to this video, could that be the one you were thinking of?
Barbara Jones. An excellent rendition also.
PP Arnold
Why be cynical about one-night stand if you can be so deftly lyrical about it (Chip Taylor) ?
And let Nina Simone do her unique musical voodoo?
