I love how the Darksaber has become such a more iconic lightsaber after TCW. A little bummed that it was unceremoniously crushed in Mando and I do hope it's salvaged at some point but oh well.
Im hoping to see the actual story of its creation with Tarre Vizsla someday. If we do and get an official Tarre look, Im so down to cosplaying it since I have the Legacy Darksaber.

One thing that wasn’t mentioned was Sabine beating Gar Saxon when challenged for the dark saber before giving it to Bo Katan. Which having beaten someone in a duel for it gave her the right as the Mandalorian beat Moff Gideon for it in season 2

The way you do "history of" videos is really amazing and unique. The way you explain things leaves room for even someone who has never seen/read/experienced a single piece of star wars media to be able to follow exactly what's going on.

It's kinda funny to note that the Darksaber was crested just before the Rusan Reformation, so it could've been used in the final battles before Darth Bane went into hiding after the Sith were seemingly defeated

I would kill for a Tales of the Jedi episode on Tarre Vizsla. Not sure if needs 3 episodes, but certainly one or two telling a concise history of him and showing how he created the Darksaber.

Remember that brash Onderonian rebel who lost his sister in the process of freeing his planet from the Separatists in an arc from "The Clone Wars"? Who would've expected him to show up as a notable character in a new Star Wars live action movie...and then continue showing up in multiple other animated and live action projects.

In Legends, the Sith had black-bladed lightsabers, which were made from a crystal that had a narcotic effect, making the user so completely high that it forced the users into uncontrollable rage.
As for Tarre Vizsla...given that the Vizsla family has a history of serving the Sith during the Old Republic, like Shae Vizsla in the MMO, I'm guessing Tarre likely was just using them as a way to gain power. Maybe the Sacking of Coruscant was when the Darksaber was taken from the Jedi Temple?

Probably one of the most iconic new sabers in the new canon and the Clone Wars, both in terms of weapon coolness and its history. It’s a pity the blade is broken, but I saw some people point out that the Kyber crystal could still be salvaged, so perhaps a new version of the blade and hilt could be reforged to be used by another future leader.

That fight was awesome. Even though the victor was evident, the fact that Pre Vizsla went toe to toe with Maul-a trained Sith renegade and Form VII specialist-was a testament to his skill.

Technically, the Darksaber should should belong Rey, and here's why: After obtaining the Darksaber, the first Maul is defeated in combat by Darth Sidius/Palpatine. From there, it goes one of two ways: A) One could argue that Luke/Vader defeated Palpatine, and since Vader died, the Darksaber then goes to Luke, who was defeated in combat by Rey in The Last Jedi OR B) Since Vader died defeating Palpatine, who somehow returned, the Darksaber would stay with Palpatine, and would then go to Rey when she killed him in Rise of Skywalker.

I'd love to see something about Tarre Vhisla in the Mando movie- whether it be Din finding artifacts from him or something more direct, like Grogu finding an ancient holocron of his or some force flashback. The idea of a man stuck between two worlds, the Jedi and the Mandolorian, would be a perfect thematic accompaniment.

I like to think that in both Legends & Canon, it was Shae Vizla (Later Mandalore the Avenger) who stole the Darksaber back from the Jedi Order during the Sacking of Coruscant by the Sith Empire at the end of Great Galactic War in 3,653 BBY.

6:03 it is briefly mentioned in Rogue One as “Project Blacksaber” when Jyn and Cassian are trying to find the Death Star plans on Scarif

That has been speculation for years. I'm sure it is, but there is no official confirmation.

    • @MCLegoboy
      @MCLegoboy 7 месяцев назад +8

Is it a fact that Project Blacksaber is about the Darksaber though? We can assume that it does, but it's just a code name. War-Mantle was revealed in Bad Batch to be about training enlisted recruits as TK Troopers and likely eventual Stormtroopers, but they're not necessarily going to war per se, it's just greater numbers to enforce the Empire's will on the Galaxy, they're not the Imperial Army like we saw in Solo. The Death Star Plans were called Project Star Dust because of Jyn's nickname from her father. Blacksaber could very well just be plans to attack Mandalore, it could also be code for something related to the Dutchess weapon because it has an effect on Beskar. There's no telling what that project actually is unless they decide to give us the story for whatever Project Blacksaber may be.

The rules of the Darksaber used to be very simple. Maul challenged Vizsla for his title in accordance with the codes of honour, thus allowing him to claim the Darksaber when he won. Obi-Wan isn't Mandalore because he didn't explicitly challenge Vizsla for the title, same with Ahsoka.
After Maul abanoned his title, the Darksaber was free to claim. As Imperial Governor, Gar Saxon claimed the Darksaber. Sabine took it from him, but didn't claim the title. Bo-Katan claimed the Saber, and her claim was then given legitimacy by the consent of the Clans. Easy.
And then Mandalorian Season 2. Gideon had the Darksaber. Whether he was its legitimate owner isn't entirely clear, but he certainly acts like he was its legitimate owner. Din defeats him, and then Gideon just decides that Din is the Mandalore now. At no point does Din actually lay claim to the Darksaber like all its previous owners did, it's thrust into his hands despite his protests, as if beating the wielder of the Darksaber and taking it both makes you Mandalore and is the only way to be Mandalore and everybody just goes along with this.

I don’t know if we’ll ever see the Darksaber recovered and repaired, but I personally think that what they should’ve done is have Gideon break Bo’s wrist instead, then he takes the Darksaber from her and says “Now I’ve disarmed you twice. What’re you gonna do about it?”. Then Din fires at Gideon while running, Gideon prepares to strike Din once he’s close, but Din calls to Grogu, who uses the force to turn off the Darksaber, rip it out of Gideon’s hands and send it right into Din’s who activates it and uses it to decapitate Gideon in one clean slice, then Din (Carrying Grogu) and Bo jetpack out of the Imperial base just as the Light Cruiser is crashing into it. Later, Din tries to give the Darksaber back again, but Bo tells him to keep it, as it is rightfully his once again since he used it to kill Gideon, who disarmed it from her.

Remember when it was set up that Din would learn to wield the dark saber, and then they went nowhere with that. And remember when Bo got the saber back as part of a technicality in a scene slapped onto the end of a goofy, otherwise unrelated, side episode.
The last season of Mandalorian was such a mess.
