The duel between Sidious vs Maul and Savage Opress is one of the greatest scenes in the animated Clone Wars series. You truly get a sense of how Sidious moves. I’ve watched it multiple times.
@@Revan8888 It's not a cartoon for starters. Secondly, it is a story. People have enjoyed stories likely since humans began to speak. Perhaps you should get a grip.
They should make a series regarding the backstory of Tarre Vizsla. For instance, was Vizsla older when he trained in the Jedi arts? Did he die in battle like a true Mandalorian? Did he chose to modify or alter the crystal when creating the Darksaber?
There really needs to be a Vizla series that shows us Tarr's training as a Jedi, his construction of the dark saber, him working up a reputation as big as Anakin's, his eventual death and then the dark saber being passed down to other users over the course of time
It's not cursed. It's like a force imbued staff or blade. He poured himself entirely into it, all of his beliefs and desires. I think he lives on in the blade, like something of a force ghost or sith artifact or maybe something in-between the two or maybe entirely different. When someone unworthy in his eyes wields the blade and he actively resists through the force
I wouldn't say unworthy. Since if they learn to control their emotions the blade will flow better, but something in that direction. Maybe lack of discipline/self-control?
@@kazuyazw6783 ya but mando is very diciplined... Man has literally lived his life to an arbitrary code of existence not even showing his face to others. It may not be the Tar visla mando way, but it's defintally disciplined. If I had to guess it is more of a "worthyness" aspect. The criteria it is based on is if the wielder fits the values of the original mandaloria (Tar). Part of that is being the best warrior hence why "winning it in battle" is an important value. Why then does mando get rejected? Simply because his belief system is likely viewed by Tar as a mockery of Mandalorian society and Tar does not respect it. It's not a matter of good and evil, it's a matter of if the wielder is someone the blades creator would respect.
@@CrypticCobra probably because he doesnt want the blade? Idk tbh I just think that discipline/worthniess isn't something changed in a few seconds. But the blade's 'weight' can drastically change quickly depending on emotions, so I'm still betting om something like that.
@@kazuyazw6783 So I take it you are dropping dicipline/self-control out of your opinion and just leaving the reason as emotion? Only problem with emotion is what does that actually even mean? It's such an arbitrary concept and needs something to latch onto for what is "accepted" emotions. Sounds a whole lot like worthyness to me as the blade seems to be accepting people with a similar mindset to it's creator. Mindsets change with emotion, you can hate and love on a dime, and it is often temporary (blind rage etc)
The black color used to, in legends, represent personal ambition. Not a dedication to the light or the dark, the dichotomy of the force. But rather ones own personal goals, without ideology attached. For right now, black color seems to represent attachment to a people, ethic or idea beyond the force. Which I am thoroughly down for. I hope we get some new saber colors in the lore soon, specifically stuff like brown and etc.
@@shmerox7683 Well, white seems to be the opposite of black in both canon and legends, that being a selfless attempt to help others, without the dichotomy of the force.
@@shmerox7683 Well, there are white lightsabers, a.k.a. light sabers (get it? dark saber - light saber... i'll show myself the exit), what i always dreamt of since i saw the dark saber was a ... white... dark saber? dark light saber? light dark saber? anti-light saber? Basically, white blade with black edge, casting a shadow/ swallowing light around it. Dark saber has a black core, but it casts pure white light, right? Regular lightsabers have pure white core and cast colored light. What if a saber had a white core but cast un-light/dark/shadow/whatever you want to describe it? That was always my kind of personal star wars dream- anti-lightsaber. The core could be of any color really, but i think white would look cooler with black around it. Like imagine it gets darker in the room if it's "lit" up. Even more, imagine that if the room has sources of light and it's "lit up" in the middle of the room, anyone and anything there would cast... lightows... shadow-lights? You know what i mean, shadows of things and people being lighter than the surrounding. Sort of reverse-shadow colour scheme. Like it just casts darkness. By the way, dark saber reminds me of a black hole with accretion disc. Black in the middle, light around it.
Once the Armorer stated that Djin needed to redeem himself in the Living Waters under the mines on Mandalor, the origins of the Darksaber became clear. While the tradition of the Children of the Watch is no longer practiced among Mandalorians, during Tarre Vizla's time they would have followed their traditions. If Tarre (helmetless) trained with the Jedi, the mortal enemies of Mandalor, then there is only one way he could have redeemed himself and went on to become Mand'alor. He must have visited the Living Waters under the mines. So what did we learn about water and minerals in geology class? Minerals can dissolve in liquids, then precipitate back out into pure crystal form. So in the Living Waters deep below the mines we will see pure Beskar crystals, the same thing Tarre Vizla used to construct the Darksaber. Which is also why the Darksaber is the only lightsaber than can damage Beskar, like only diamonds can cut diamonds.... My guess is that the crystal weapon we saw the beast drop after Grogu knocks him out of the cave in the trailer is pure Beskar crystal. Remember, metals ARE crystalline.... AND Djin mentioned to the Armorer in Book of Boba that the hilt of the Darksaber is constructed of a quality of Beskar he has never seen. I also believe that it is in the Living Waters where Grogu will find the crystal for his saber. This discovery of pure Beskar crystals is also what will unite the Mandalorians again, and will be used to produce armor for generations of new foundlings. This is the Way.
@@johnathanbrandt2526 well, technically the Force is part of everything in the galaxy, so I would initially say "yes". But I believe a theoretical Beskar crystal would vibrate at a much different frequency than Kyber, which is why the Darksaber is the only lightsaber that can turn Beskar steel red hot. Keep in mind that all of the alternative materials used for lightsabers are in Legends, Kyber is the only canon material so far. The main reason I believe the Darksaber will be the first canon saber to use something other than Kyber is that it has singular characteristics that stay the same regardless of who it's wielder is, so those traits cannot be explained the same way that Kyber crystals are affected by their wielders. With the Darksaber, it seems like the wielder is affected by the crystal more than the other way around. We never heard of a lightsaber being heavy at al, and are often considered lighter than expected. Not so with the Darksaber, it seems to increase it's own gravity while Kyber sabers decrease their own gravity.
Your theory on the origin of the dark saber's distinct color is so well put together and by far the best explanation I've heard. I hope it plays out that way.
I’m really hoping Jedi survivor will have Beskar as lightsaber material and there will be a black kyber crystal option. Would love so cool to create or own spin on the dark saber.
I remember seeing one video theorizing that the Dark Sabre is some form of spacial defect rather than a standard lightsaber. For example, a Cosmic String or Black Hole. A cosmic string a km long has more mass-energy equivalent than the entire earth. A portion only about a meter long, like the Darksaber blade, would still have an absolutely enormous mass (.1% of the entire Earth, but more massive than some moons), but we do see that it can apparently change its apparent weight, so that's not necessarily a problem. They'd have huge energies, which might explain how the Dark Saber can effect Beskar so much. As a blackhole, it would explain the blackness of the blade, as a portion of the Event Horizon, somehow flattened into a blade. That white glow would essentially be an accretion disc. That being said, a black hole with the size of the Blade would be absolutely massive, far more than the mass of a similarly sized cosmic string. A black hole with a diameter of 2 cm has more mass than the entire earth, and the Dark Saber has more than that most likely. I personally like the theory that it's a cosmic string. At least as a scientific explanation. But, we are essentially dealing with space magic, and the blade is essentially Excalibur. There's no reason it needs to abide by our rules.
In the original canon, the black lightsaber was only found on a Sith planet (Sith as in the species) and would be like the way the Darksaber looks, but the blade is a standard lightsaber, except it was the only one that generated heat, where normal ones requires a touch for said heat. The way that the Darksaber is definitely cool because it has an Excalibur-type property like the story of The Sword in the Stone where whoever drew the blade would be king.
@@thalmoragent9344 Sadly that was the lore that Disney "didn't have source material on" which if you saw Star wars Theory asked the AI he was using on that "claim" and the answer was the exact same fashion that everyone else has said it, but in a logical way. Pretty much it was the Black Lightsaber Crystal from the Force Unleashed, minus the electric effect due to that Starkiller's hilt was not made from Beskar. Still damn cool either way
This saber surly does have a mind of its own. It was heavy in Sabine’s hands seeing her as unworthy, of course not winning it from Maul, and carrying a lot of mental baggage with guilt of leading the Empire to subjugate her own people. Now it sees Din as unworthy, because of him trying to relinquish the blade without having a proper duel along with not wanting to be the leader of Mandalore. Maybe the process of transferring ownership of the saber isn’t a factor in why it becomes unstable for someone to use it properly, yet I see Paz Visla also have problems using the blade despite how much larger and strong he is physically. Still, the mysteries of the DarkSaber continue to allude us. Hopefully Season 3 will shine just a little more light on why the blade deems some wielders worthy and some not.
I think it's less "having a mind of its own" and more that the saber's crystal reflects the mind of the wielder in how it behaves. If you are afraid you are unworthy of the leadership role that the saber brings with it, the blade resists you. Once Sabine resolved to pass the saber and the burden on to a "worthy" sucessor and fought just to save her family, she could wield the saber without much effort. Similarly, Din doesn't want to lead Mandalore. He just wants to live his life and care for Grogu, and he sees the Darksaber as a huge complication to that goal.
History 7:42 how its different To aid a note from his new video It helps non force sensitive in combat But they must be self balanced and honest yo themselves To gain the sabers respect you must in honorable in combate, If someone worthy willing to protect fpundlings/yong mandalorians or the weldur is an honorable and good leader they can use the weppon without clam... If u win it then try ti give it away, if u dont win it or dont have the good traits the blade will fight you in order to make it esayer for it to be clamed by someone better
I always thought that the Dark Saber was meant to be a representation of the Dark Side being contained by the Light. The fact that it could damage Beskar showing how Tar Visla recognized the threat of Mandalor to the Galaxy and this being a symbol for them all to remember that a greater power existed...
The darksaber is not made with a crystal. It was made using a quantum singularity. At the time, the mandalorians were the most technologically-advanced race in the known Galaxy. That's why they were at war with the Jedi for so long. Because a Jedi basically an old faith-based thing and the Mandalorian were all about furthering their technology. So why wouldn't the only Mandalorian with a working knowledge of the force be able to trap and harness the power of a small but all be extraordinarily powerful singularity and control its energy. That's why the Jedi wanted to keep it and study it. That's another reason why the mandalorians took it back. Because they ultimately did not want their technology being used against them. But as we all know they failed. But that's why the darksaber can cut through everything. Everything. And if given enough time will absorb an entire Sun and become slightly more powerful for a short time.
12:32 on this picture of the blade it seems that white pattern on the blade resembles to me as a similar to damaskus steel patterns, which may be related to beskar - damaskus as toughest metals
It's also in the shape of a traditional Mandalorian weapon, the Beskad. It is a sword made of Beskar with a unique design in the hilt to catch and break the blades of the opponent's weapon. This design was also effective in disarming lightsabers.
The only reason the Force gave it Black is because: "Bro, Tar, you're like pretty badass and everything, we'll give you a matching badass color for your lightsabre"
I've always thought that the black and white colors of the saber showed someone who was equally light and dark in the force, someone who never let anger win out but someone who understood all emotions and force aspects and was completely in harmony within themselves.
I believe it signified that he allowed and accepted emotions and consequences like the sith but chose to follow the path of the jedi and he was balanced something no jedi or sith have been able to achieve.
The dark saber is a cool weapon for a unique person. The idea of a Mandalorian being a Jedi is so contradictory, I’d love to see how that really played out. Great idea for an animated series right there!!!
People can say whatever they want, I love all of Star Wars and always look forward to whatever is coming out next. The Mandalorian is absolutely awesome and I loved the book of Boba Fett.
I would think Din Djarin’s conflict with the blade come from his shame (and a resulting lack of confidence perhaps ?) for commiting the taboo of removing his helmet, making him see himself as not Mandalorian anymore and therefore not worthy of the Darksaber...
When there was theories about his views on Force and true loyalty for his people etc. Remains me about knights of eternal empire, how they believed in their emperor and not light and dark side (they knew about them, but didn't really care, used both without care, while staying loyal). Maybe for Force user is most important believe in something and live according it, that live according philosophy of on side. It's form of bond that both side forbids, but can have great efekts that can surprise both side(knight, Vader) . So this Saber could be stronger than Jedi and Sith lightsabers, because these bonds, but can be more limiting and demanding that normal weapons.
My theory: - the dark crystal does not have a direct source/access to the power, but an indirect one, through the self-proven in the power itself. - the dark crystal has inherited the characteristics of Tar Visla's character and seeks out others with those qualities or shapes individuals to have them in time, but always seeks a strong fighter/warrior to lead by example. Suspect the crystal had similar proximity to Revan's first crystal blue to purple when he turned to the dark side. Loyal to Visla through the planet Mandalor and its people only.
I love the total overkill that is Beskar armor, canonically a warrior can die inside a suit of it just by the sheer impact of an explosion (kinetic force) before it's even dented, ever, which kind of serves as a sort of intimidation thing too, I pity the fools that see a Beskar suit and think "yeah, I can kill that guy with a lucky blaster shot" LOL
You say that Din is fighting himself or the ideas of the Saber but when Din was fighting Paz Visla and Paz picked up the Saber, he was having difficulty welding it. I do agree with you that Din is fighting against himself.
It would be tempting for them to explain the dark Saber in the Mandalorian season 3, but I believe it would be a disservice to the Star Wars universe if they do. Part of the allure of star wars has been the many mysterious plot elements and world building that makes it feel like it really is set in a universe with a very long and mostly untold history. I suspect season 3 will reveal more about the Saber, but also that it will deepen the mystery surrounding it. From a storytelling perspective, this makes it more valuable as you can keep expanding on it and thereby keep it interesting in every story. From the Franchise perspective, its greatest value is in its mysterious past allowing it to craft new characters in new series across any period of the Star Wars saga including the deep past and the far future. If I were advising the writers, I would say that the dark Saber should develop like a character in the story that is older and more cryptic than Yoda, one that has less obvious loyalties and values, and that has abilities that are mostly unknown to everyone, but most importantly has the power to change with time and experience. Make it as mysterious as the force while most often seeming as mundane and commonplace as a droid until the moment it decides its destiny most often in the least expected ways and without ever explaining itself. Let it become the object that guides stories, but without the story ever seeming to be about the Saber.
My guess is that since Din Djarin removed his helmet, he is no longer a 'true' Mandalorian. Or rather, he does not feel like one, so the Dark Saber 'knows' that he doesn't feel worthy of wielding it.
The Darksaber is easily explained once you realize it knows who should be wielding it... Tarre Viszla built it and was the true wielder until his death. While the Jedi Order collected it on Tarre's death, it should have been handed it down to his heir as Mandalorian culture would have dictated. Clan Vizsla stole it back and restored their ownership and the Darksaber's heredity. It was now either handed down, or taken be whoever beat the wielder. When Tor Viszla was defeated by Jango Fett in Legends while using the Darksaber, the inheritence in Clan Viszla was now broken. The Darksaber knew who it's new wielder was: Jango Fett. With Jango being the true wielder, but never possessing the Darksaber or fighting with it, when he was killed by Mace Windu the Darksaber would have stayed in Jango's bloodline. The true wielder of the Darksaber, and the true Mandalore, is Jango's son, Boba Fett. That's why the Darksaber has fought against all of Clan Viszla controlling it. That's why BoKatan and Sabine couldn't wield it, and that's why until this point in the Canon, it continues to fight against Din Djarin. None of them are the true Mandalore, Boba Fett is. In the Book of Boba Fett, I think we have already seen the Mythosaur rise as the Armorer prophesied, and we also heard of the Waters of Mandalore, and learned that Tatooine used to be a lush world. I think we'll see Boba Fett restore Tatooine's water and claim the planet as the new Mandalorian homeworld. Din's trip for absolution to the old Mandalore will just be a wild goose chase where he won't find water there at all, and he won't find true redemption until he bathes in the waters of Tatooine and Boba Fett wields the Darksaber. I'm probably wrong, but there are too many things that fit together for me to ignore the possibility. And this is just a deep enough theory that Filoni could pull it off
If the blade does have an innate loyalty to Mandalore it makes sense that it’s fighting Din. He currently doesn’t even believe himself a true Mandalorian let alone the true ruler of Mandalore.
This video was amazing, I knew none of this information, except for what they showed in the Mandalorian. I wish the Disney projects that were live action were this detailed. It would be amazing if they made live action versions of the clone, wars, cartoon, and all the other content.
I'll admit, the saber is neat and has a cool design and color. But if you ask me I can't help but feel like. The Darksaber is a little bit much. Cause if you ask me the it's not the weapon itself that is interesting but the crafter who made it. Aka Tar Vizla (probably miss spelled his name.). An like others have said it's got like a Excalibur like vibe to it sure. But we gotta remember it's a lightsaber and well those things are typically made for force users. As we have seen in Clone Wars where padme hold Aninkin's lightsaber and commented on it being heavy than expected. I'm guessing Vizla was like Aninkin strong at physically and wanted a heavy saber. Plus he probably took inspiration from the now legends Beskar Blades called Beskad. Cause if you look at the Beskad sword and the Darksaber. You can see the design kinda. That is just my thoughts though.
Just a theory what if the darksaber's behaviour works on how much honour you have towards mandalore and the people of mandalore or respect for mandalore
No, it's about a force connection to the Crystal. All creatures in that Galaxy have some sort of connection to the force, so do the kyber crystals. One doesn't need to be force sensitive to connect to a kyber crystal, however it is necessary to connect to it in order to wield the light saber properly. Din is having problems because he didn't want the dark saber when he got it, even tried to reject it.
I want anti-light saber. shadow-saber? black-lightsaber? Whatever you would call a "lightsaber" that has a white core (like regular ones) and "glows" pure black, emitting darkness/swallowing light. It would get darker in a room if it's turned on. People around it would cast shadows brighter than the environment, like, if a room had a good source of light, like, on the ceiling, and this saber is lit up inside, their "shadows"/ outlines would remain the same brightness as they were with just the light on, but any part of the room that would face direct dark(un-light) of this saber would get darker. This was always my personal dream lightsaber. And the pure white core, just like in a regular lightsaber, seemingly glowing but casting no light around, would look pretty cool too. What do you guys think?
I think the information actually speaks to it being the opposite of a typical crystal. Where the wielders feelings change a typical saber, for the dark saber the opposite is true in that it changes its wielder to its views. Such as its weight aspect or the argued curse etc.
I like the concept that Tar Vizsla's first loyalty was to his people and not the Jedi, and that The Force and his Kyber crystal knew it also. I've always thought that the Darksaber uses Dark Matter to fuel it. Dark Matter makes up 85% of the total mass of the universe, might also explain the weight, gravity and mass react differently with it. We only know Dark Matter/energy is there because of the gravitational effect it has on surrounding objects, if one could tap into that? They would have access to enormous power that no one else could match.
here's an idea. what if the blade isn't sentient of it self but rather Visla. hear me out. at the time it was likely crafted the idea of becomign a force ghost was not common knowledge (or even known at all). what if, while loyal by oath to the Jedi, his heart was so strongly bound to his people that he perhaps delved into some darkside practices. most notably, what if he through some alchemy and deep meditation actually became ONE with the saber. it would explain some things, like its apparent sentience and loyalty to Mandalor as well as perhaps this "curse". its well know that sith spirits exist, and is the only way one fully immersed in the darkside can remain after "death" by tethering themselves to an object. these objects are also often "cursed", in that the will of the bound spirit can affect the force much like they could whilst alive but at a much deeper level. this would also explain why, even if you didn't strictly "win" the saber in combat or try to reject the responsibility it wont immediately reject you by default. it seems to "test" its would be wielder, traditionally through combat but perhaps not exclusively. Maul won the saber and took the mantle yet it is implied it rejected him, only being able to use it at all because he himself was force sensitive and trained in the darkside (i.e to have a dominiative will, likely wrstling with the blade and holding his own from the perspective of the force). inversely, prior to truly earning the blade in combat, Seben found a connection with it once she let go of her own resistance and started thinking and acting for the good of her people, which lends credence to the idea that its not "winning" the blade thats key but "earning" it. just that by mandalorian tradition that usually meant combat. its plausible that, where she to come into possesion of the blade, Setene may too have been (reluctantly) accepted by the blade, were she ever to wield it. alas she never got the chance (side note. that scene shows why Obi-Wan was as close to the "perfect" jedi as any alive at the time could probably be. he didn't stifle his emotions but rather had them under control, letting himself feel the pain of her death and yet also allowing himself to let go without turning to anger and hatred. you can see he didn't hate maul for it but felt sorry for him, that his life had brought him to the place where he would do that. while still not as clear headed as his master its clear Qui-Gon taught him well whilst he could). as for the crystal itself, i dont think Canon has "different" crystals anymore but some aspects of that legends concept have carried over with the "bonding" between a force sensitive and their crystal(s). perhaps the dark saber is something unique within the force. born of the dark but bound to the light. two halves held in balance until its ignited, at which point the emotions of the wielder fuel and raise the differential, pushing light and dark apart. this would explain why it has the lightning sometimes. when you push into the light or dark it separates the duality in the force. as its not the light or dark that has power but rather the pull towards equilibrium (balance) the more you push one way or the other the more it pulls back, drawing in energy and the force from around it, darkening the blade and at the pinical of divergence possibly even extinguishing a lightsaber crystal itself just by crossing blades. (thats why you cant have someone use the light and dark at the same time normally. you can only push so far in both directions but can push harder if you go one way or the other. only reason the Chosen One(s) could appear to do it is because they themselves become the anchor point, by which stage they may as well be a force entity, like "The Ones" or Bendu, in and of themselves rather than a force user. at full potential Anikin would likely be as powerful as "The Father", if not more so). if the blade itself wer in fact imbued with the spirit of Visla then perhaps he too could push the other way, creating this BALANCED divergence and making the blade so much stronger. as for his loyalty to the Jedi, personally i'd like to think that he left on neutral terms for reasons similar in principle to how/why Douku left, though without strictly falling to the darkside. it seems likely he would have been a "late initiate" and presumably around the age luke was in ANH
I think one thing that could make the Darksaber more dangerous is that, with the exception of it's creator and Maul, those who have wielded it were not Force sensitive.
There's another possibility. There is a possibility that the crystal in the lightsaber could be from mandalor. It could, in fact, be a beskar kiba crystal.
I have always wondered if the Darksaber had a sentience like a echo of Tarre Vizsla and if so it is possible that it is testing din djarin, some of the greatest leaders are those who don't want to lead but they must also gain the resolve and determination to do so as well. Din djarin has the potential to be the leader the mandalorians need but he has not earned it yet, defeating moff gideon and obtaining the Darksaber is only a single step in walking up the mountain to become a true Mand'alor.
i really hope they don't go too far with the lightsaber color thing. it's cool to have them vaguely reference things about a user's personality and moral compass, but it shouldn't be a hard and fast, he's blue, he's a good guy, he's red, he's a bad guy type of thing.
I would like to throw out my theory on the Darksaber's crisp and black quality. It was made to exist in 2 realms, or dimensions, simultaneously. So even though it has its own power source and energy, in appearance it absorbs light and electromagnetic energy in a very similar way a black hole would, without all the gravitational pull that is.
I reckon I'd have a dark saber due to the fact I dont agree with the Siths selfish arrogance, but have very similar views to Nihilius. No more pain. No more death. No mercy. No quarter
Interested to see how returning to Mandalore to be redeemed by the "living waters" will affect his relationship to the Darksaber. See if any of these theories are true.
You know, Sidious should have sought to claim the Darksaber by defeating its wielder after becoming The Emperor (he could simply used Vader to explain his knowledge of the Force & ability to wield a lightsaber, heck he could even claim it was the will of the Force) then he'd have been the rightful ruler of Mandalore & had the Mandalorians under his control, given the Imperials militant nature, he could have recruited warmongering Mandalorians into the Imperial military & Navy! With the Darksaber, he'd be able to rule Mandalore & the Mandalorian genocide wouldn't have happened! Still I guess it's Sidious' loss & potentially Grogu's gain as he may one day inherit it from his adoptive father Mando! It would be cool if Grogu ended up as the force sensitive leader of Mandalore after Mando!
I believe that the Blade itself cursing Bo Katan. Remember what happened when Maul won the Blade through trial by combat? After Vizla claimed that only the strongest shall rule Mandalore, accepting his defeat againts a stronger foe. Bo Katan suddenly claimed and called out that all who believed the Dark Saber's might, are traitors. They who all bow down to Maul, who was the rightful leader of Mandalore at that time, are all traitors. I never really liked this scene, and this is why I consider the blade rather a liability than a strong weapon, because it won't garantuee that every Mandalorian will follow. With Bo Katan's denial, a big portion of Death Watch, turned againts thoose who followed Maul, igniting a small civil war. But it is indeed an interesting idea that the Blade itself takes revenge on Bo Katan, after she denied the might of the Dark Saber.
Theory: Din Djarin views the Darksaber and the title & responsibility that accompany it as a burden, therefor the Darksaber is reflecting this 'insult' and rejection by becoming a burden physicaly.
Din Djarin hasn't had Lightsaber training and doesn't know how to become in tune with the crystal. Kanan Jarrus, with only padawan training, was able to train Sabine Wren to use the Darksaber and it wasn't heavy for either of them. Sabine had no problem wielding Ezra's lightsaber after being trained to use the Darksaber. Who knows, Sabine might show up in Mando Season 3 and train Din how to use a Lightsaber. Tarre Vizsla was called by a unique Kyber Crystal; It's not evil or darkside.
I know this isn't fully accurate, and that it doesn't include all the saber colors there are, but I tend to break down the colors and their meanings like this: Blue: Dedication and focus on the physical Green: Dedication and focus on the metaphysical Orange: Dedication and focus on the mental Red: Dedication and focus on the emotional Purple: Dedication and focus on taming emotion to do tangible/physical good Yellow: Dedication and subserviance to a vow or higher power Black: Acceptance of Death and a strive to direct it until submitting to it White: Rebirth, acceptance of the past and the drive to rise above it
George Lucas said 30 years ago all lightsabers are extremely heavy and hard to weild. When they are in tune with the user and running correctly they weigh as much as a katana or two handed long sword. They have always been this and people who run Star Wars channels should know more about Lightsabers
I could envision a mandalorian Jedi believing that Because of the war with the Jedi, there's historical guilt of "in such a dark past, more light is needed" I could also envision a dark side variant of mace windu's form 7 being endowed into the kiiber crystal embedded as it was forged... Similar to a red saber crystal being blead, often synthesizd by the sith, errmm.. dark Jedi .. perhaps the crystal did an adverse reaction
This is very impressive! Darksaber is VERY unique! You gave excellent infos :D And great explanations :D Can you tell us more if you find out more? I think Darksaber has its own mind,it decides for itself. I agree,it possible it means loyalty. Thanks :) It's possible its cursed. But Mandalorians are still out there. It's good Darksaber is loyal to its own people. Havent seen the show. May the Force be with you too :)
The Mandalorian is a good and interesting show. I’m stoked to see where it goes. I also wonder what the future holds for Luke and Asoka Tano in this series (if any)
But my question is Why did the mandalorians switch from mandalore's helmet to the dark saber? Thats something I wish we fould get a videogame or book for
We really need more Mandalore based content from Star Wars , before The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett tv shows it wasn't much to build upon . But now we could use a Mandalorian Movie from Star Wars and maybe even a Star Wars Bounty Hunter 2 Video Game 🎮 🕹 !
I think Ahsoka would be the true Mandalore, like Sidious. Which means Bo Katan will need to fight her for it. Maybe in the confusion of it not being passed to the rightful ruler is why it's hard to wield
Since Darth Maul hated the Sith for betraying him I never understood why he never saw the error of his ways and became a Jedi or join the light said of the force.
According to the Republic commando novels, where most of the mandalorian culture in star wars comes from, black is the colour of justice, if a Mando is wearing black armour they are seeking justice, he was a Jedi and a mandalorian, black is the colour of justice.
Yes I'm getting really excited for the mandalorian season 3 and the darksaber is a really interesting weapon I think the mandalorian people whoever has the darksaber should you use it but that's just my opinion as a Star wars fan and the mandalorian fan at the same time 😎♥️.
Was there some another jedi / sith from mandalorians? Or are they avoided by force similary to Hutts? Maybe because Mandalorians hate towards Jedies forced them to hide or outcast force sensitive? Could you do video on this topic?
I wonder if Din Djarin would be consulting with one of the elder Jedi force ghosts (through Luke Skywalker, probably) about the weapon's history. It looks like the surviving Mandalorian clans and the Tribe/Children of the Watch may have nothing further to offer... especially if Paz Vizsla keeps his mouth shut, on what other stuff he may possibly know about that legendary weapon.
This is something I’m confused about. If Tar Vizsla was the first Mandolorian to become a Jedi, why do the Manodlorians use the Darksaber to kill Jedi? Shouldn’t Tar’s induction have brought peace between the two factions?
Star Wars 10… the rise of mandalore? Din djarin or maybe even grogu try’s to bring the mandolrians back to former glory with dark saber? “We where once a dominant force in the galaxy, and now that the sith and only a few Jedi live, we will take our thrown again?” Idk sounds kick ass if our beloved characters turn into the bad dudes.
Personally I don't think it's something as complicated as the Saber fighting against him. Sword work isn't as easy as it looks. Unless you've trained your gonna get tired after a few mins of intense moves. You'll start to feel like your sword is getting heavier no matter how balanced your blade is. Sword work is basically like tennis if the racket was heavier. You need a high level of cardio to be able to fight for more then a few mins at your full ability.
but the blades don't really have much weight. only the handle. it's one of the reasons fighting with a lightsaber is difficult. I believe it is heavy in Djinn's hands because he is not the one who should be wielding it and that he doesn't want to be the leader of the Mandalorian. But, at the same turn Moff Gideon had no issues swinging it around, so it's really odd that Djinn finds the blade so cumbersome, and Gideon did not. Perhaps it's the will of the user and since Djinn doesn't think he should have the blade, the blade is rejecting him in a way, where-as Gideon believed he should have the blade. It's hard to tell and the writers should one day explain that to us.
@@acidstorm001 it depends on how well your blades balanced and the quality of your sword. Broad swords are harder to move then katanas. A good blade should be in my opinion as neutral balanced as possible. Meaning if you hold it your not feeling like any extra weight along the blade.
You said that Maul was on Dathomir with the dark saber after order 66. Does that mean Maul was there when Cal Kestis was. He may even have witnessed the duel with Taron Malicos?
I always wanted to believe that the Darksaber is made with a "force gem" of its own kind from the other universe, the same place as those creatures which are force immune.
That doesn't make sense. The kyber crystals are connected to the force, while nothing outside that galaxy is. the Darksaber works like any other lightsaber.
Metal blades are forged through pressure to align and strengthen the crystal lattice. What if instead of a kyber crystal the hart of the Dark Saber is beskar?
Also the Mandalorians switching from the Helm, which just has to be found, to the Darksaber which has to be won, is reminiscent of the sith changing to the rule of 2, ensuring someone strong would be leading instead of anyone who got lucky or sneaky enough
I believe the Dark Saber needs Mandalor. I think the Saber is bound to Mandalorians, not just one Mandolin. so it needs to be changed of sorts and brought back to the home planet. much like Mando has to do... Because you're a Mandalorian no more
If #Favreau and his writing crew are worth their salt, Season 3 of Mando will give us *some* of the Darksaber's secrets, but not all, answering *some* of the questions surrounding it, but sparking many more new ones.
I think it's the force, not for jedi or sith but the force only. Understanding it as balance within yourself. The very thing that makes a good ruler. If your mind is not settled then your true nature will show through. If you resist then it would show that resistance in your ability to use it. It's what the force is meant to be and not what each side twists it to become.
The duel between Sidious vs Maul and Savage Opress is one of the greatest scenes in the animated Clone Wars series. You truly get a sense of how Sidious moves. I’ve watched it multiple times.
me too bro. its badass and i love how fluid he is and maniacal. His laugh and his lightsaber skill and skills in the force is unmatched

They should make a series regarding the backstory of Tarre Vizsla. For instance, was Vizsla older when he trained in the Jedi arts? Did he die in battle like a true Mandalorian? Did he chose to modify or alter the crystal when creating the Darksaber?
Seconded, yes please!
Yes
Director Daryl I love it
That would be awesome
Absolutely, I wanna know more of his story
There really needs to be a Vizla series that shows us Tarr's training as a Jedi, his construction of the dark saber, him working up a reputation as big as Anakin's, his eventual death and then the dark saber being passed down to other users over the course of time
It's not cursed. It's like a force imbued staff or blade. He poured himself entirely into it, all of his beliefs and desires. I think he lives on in the blade, like something of a force ghost or sith artifact or maybe something in-between the two or maybe entirely different. When someone unworthy in his eyes wields the blade and he actively resists through the force
Exactly!
Idk tbh
I just think that discipline/worthniess isn't something changed in a few seconds.
Now that'd be really sick.
That is so much better damn you Disney
Now imagine instead of black, the saber is white 🤯 (jk).
I think different forms of sabers would be interesting as well (this one is sword shaped).
This is the Way.
if grogu did find his crystal there that would be so cool 😩
Nailed it!!
This is the way
Crystalized beskar would be the best option
As kyber crystals as well as most other crystals used in lightsabers are force sensitive would that imply that besker is also affected by the force?
Wow, so a Black Blade with white marks, that actually emitted Heat... that's insane 😳.
Still damn cool either way
@@m3tr0id86 Nowadays:
Beskar = Mandolorians
Kyber = Jedi
@Conrado Javier Yeah because Disney just LOVES to dumb things down and just pisses on the "what-ifs" unless it suits them.
I like that one, also I like to imagine how cool it would be if it would be Korriban cause' its was a Sith Specie Planet before so
This saber surly does have a mind of its own.
@@kennethdawson7774 Then it would all boil down to leadership and the role that the DarkSaber represents.
Confidence, it shapes the user into a good leader for mandalor

It's worth noting that black, in Legends, on Mandalorian armour, signifies 'Justice'.
@@matthewchristian9591 I honestly love that idea.
i believe a white saber represents a gray jedi, one that is in the middle of the force nor light or dark, like ahsoka tano or cal kestis

The closest to a lightsaber samurai sword
No clue but im happy to see a none force sensitive use a lightsaber it shows its possible but so damn dangerous.
Correct, it shapes the weilder into a good leader for mandalor
When there was theories about his views on Force and true loyalty for his people etc. Remains me about knights of eternal empire, how they believed in their emperor and not light and dark side (they knew about them, but didn't really care, used both without care, while staying loyal). Maybe for Force user is most important believe in something and live according it, that live according philosophy of on side. It's form of bond that both side forbids, but can have great efekts that can surprise both side(knight, Vader) . So this Saber could be stronger than Jedi and Sith lightsabers, because these bonds, but can be more limiting and demanding that normal weapons.
During the high republic Jedi were inducted at any age. TV was probably a teenager or in his mid 20s. So he definitely would have remembered
My theory:
- the dark crystal does not have a direct source/access to the power, but an indirect one, through the self-proven in the power itself.
Funny you mention Revan i suspect Tar Visla definitely studied everything he could about him.
@@matthewchristian9591 Did they not live in the same age?
@Magnus Aarsland no Tar was about 100-200 years later so while revan was being held in stasis
Amazing video about the dark saber history in Star Wars, fantastic job.
Nothing beats the beauty & evilness of a blood red light-saber. When the Jedi see a red light saber, their knees weaken at the sight of one.
My favorite head cannon is that the dark saber’s attributes are attributed to it having a krayte dragon pearl instead of a kyber crystal.
And this is just a deep enough theory that Filoni could pull it off
Very good content and this is explained really well. Thanks for your time and effort.
If the blade does have an innate loyalty to Mandalore it makes sense that it’s fighting Din. He currently doesn’t even believe himself a true Mandalorian let alone the true ruler of Mandalore.
Wonderful Insight my friend
My earliest recollection of the dark Saber was when the hutts named thier death star clone after it. I like the idea of it being Excalibur though
I remember seeing the Darksaber on Clone Wars and my jaw dropping. It's the best looking sword, ever.
That is my hope as well. For the origins of the Darksaber to be explained as well as the story of Tar Vistla in the Mandolorian season 3.
Tarre visla force essence may reside in the blade and may eventually make himself known when the user is ready to see him
I think one thing that could make the Darksaber more dangerous is that, with the exception of it's creator and Maul, those who have wielded it were not Force sensitive.
Sidious would never use the weapon of a former Jedi. He threw it down because he thought it was gross. Would probably have been really heavy anyways.
Grogu, Mandalor the Scorcher
The dark saber / tar visla should be it’s own trilogy
What's up the lady on the far right at 11:56 having a black lightsaber. Kinda contradicts when he goes on and on about it being only black lightsaber.
Theory: Din Djarin views the Darksaber and the title & responsibility that accompany it as a burden, therefor the Darksaber is reflecting this 'insult' and rejection by becoming a burden physicaly.
is the hilt made of beskaar?
it would make sense if Tar Vizla crafted the blade with Mandalore in mind.
It crystallized beskar
I know this isn't fully accurate, and that it doesn't include all the saber colors there are, but I tend to break down the colors and their meanings like this:
Blue: Dedication and focus on the physical
Green: Dedication and focus on the metaphysical
Orange: Dedication and focus on the mental
Red: Dedication and focus on the emotional
Purple: Dedication and focus on taming emotion to do tangible/physical good
Yellow: Dedication and subserviance to a vow or higher power
Black: Acceptance of Death and a strive to direct it until submitting to it
White: Rebirth, acceptance of the past and the drive to rise above it
Maybe Tar Visla bound himself to the weapon. So that he'd have his hand in the rule of mandalore forever.
George Lucas said 30 years ago all lightsabers are extremely heavy and hard to weild. When they are in tune with the user and running correctly they weigh as much as a katana or two handed long sword. They have always been this and people who run Star Wars channels should know more about Lightsabers
I could envision a mandalorian Jedi believing that Because of the war with the Jedi, there's historical guilt of "in such a dark past, more light is needed"
I could also envision a dark side variant of mace windu's form 7 being endowed into the kiiber crystal embedded as it was forged... Similar to a red saber crystal being blead, often synthesizd by the sith, errmm.. dark Jedi .. perhaps the crystal did an adverse reaction
Crazy to think it's the oldest known lightsaber
This is very impressive! Darksaber is VERY unique! You gave excellent infos :D And great explanations :D Can you tell us more if you find out more? I think Darksaber has its own mind,it decides for itself. I agree,it possible it means loyalty. Thanks :) It's possible its cursed. But Mandalorians are still out there. It's good Darksaber is loyal to its own people. Havent seen the show. May the Force be with you too :)
The Mandalorian is a good and interesting show. I’m stoked to see where it goes. I also wonder what the future holds for Luke and Asoka Tano in this series (if any)
But my question is
Why did the mandalorians switch from mandalore's helmet to the dark saber?
Thats something I wish we fould get a videogame or book for
We really need more Mandalore based content from Star Wars , before The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett tv shows it wasn't much to build upon . But now we could use a Mandalorian Movie from Star Wars and maybe even a Star Wars Bounty Hunter 2 Video Game 🎮 🕹 !
It would be cool if we get to meet Tarre Vizsla, through the darksaber.
Day 19 of asking for a part 3 of what if anakin was trained by qui gon
Does the dark saber shape cause a disadvantage when defending against blaster fire?
Yes I'm getting really excited for the mandalorian season 3 and the darksaber is a really interesting weapon I think the mandalorian people whoever has the darksaber should you use it but that's just my opinion as a Star wars fan and the mandalorian fan at the same time 😎♥️.
Was there some another jedi / sith from mandalorians? Or are they avoided by force similary to Hutts? Maybe because Mandalorians hate towards Jedies forced them to hide or outcast force sensitive? Could you do video on this topic?
Imo it would be interesting if Tar Visla spirit is embedded in the sword and when din jarrin goes into the water, Vislas Force Ghost appears
Stupendous Wave: SO here's a breakdown of the darksabers history and abilities annnnnnnnd it's gone
Darksaber very cool
7:30
"Rule Of Cool"
That's why.
It’s not the weapon, it’s their connection to the force.
The Galaxy will change if Grogu ever wields the Darksaber of his father.
Hey all. Does anyone know where the picture Wave used at 8 minutes 20 comes from?
If it heats beskar, is it possible that the Darksaber has some connection to Sabine Wren's weapon she crafted for the Empire?
Dam nice time stamps
The Dark sabre is the fine balance of the force?🤔
