I noticed what looks to be an old Otis elevator centrifugal brake in the background? I sold a couple of those a while back to a guy in Texas, yours didn't happen to come from Texas did it?
Why is it that the fans always do things better than Disney that has all the money and all the rights to the IP? it’s kind of embarrassing that the fans always do things infinitely better!
I built one of these and One step I highly recommend its painting the crystal with a black enamel and scraping the paint away on the edges to give it that black and white aesthetic like the blade!!
There’s something magical about holding a metal lightsaber that rumbles your hand with realistic sound. Even my non SW nerd friends feel that once and get hooked.
Bought lots of DIY saber parts from Justin at Saberbay. Definitely a good resource for the saber community and DIY in general. This one is really beautiful work.
So awesome seeing your reaction guys to the work that we put our effort and thought in! That was quite a challenge designing those custom blade connector and switches pcbs and the main 3D-printed chassis base, but the result is absolutely stunning! 😇
Having the light up move ALONG the blade when its activated is such an inspired and amazing choice. its so much more then i was expecting when i saw the thumbnail.
I love Norm. Just as he said, 'dab a glue', I immediately went 'yabba dabba glue' and then he says it a bit afterwards. I hope your kid grows up to be just like you! Never change, Norm. Never change
I've been collecting custom sabers for the better part of 25 years now so I'm used to a lot of what the tech can do. Watching Adam's genuine reactions to this is like watching a bright-eyed kid with a new toy for the first time. It's truly wonderful ^_^ I can't wait to see more lightsaber videos on this channel!
I was watching the rocket car Mythbusters episode the other day, and it struck me how excited Adam was and the fun he was having. watching this, not much has changed. The guy just exudes pure joy.
In a hundred years, we may very well have miniaturized technology enough for lightsabers to actually be a thing. That 3D printed metal piece is AMAZING.
As one of the first-run supporters, I can say, without a doubt, that this is an Amazing build and I loved reading through the thread as the designs and manufacturing process were developed.
the best feature, as pointed-out by Adam, is that this piece of pop-culture memorabilia feels like it was manufactured by hobbyists. you can always expect great things when fans of the project are involved.
Definitely. I ordered this saber in the very first wave they had and it feels made by fans for fans. There is a black series darksaber and one from Galaxy's edge as well and they are nowhere near as perfect as the Saberbay one.
ME: Im gonna buy this ASAP 3 mins later after checking the almost $1250 price tag Me: Nevermind i like being able to eat. for real tho its worth every penny for all the hard work they have put in much love to the creators and makers
Bit late to the party after May The 4th rush 😅 Thanks so much for your comments on this and especially on the Crystal Part we designed for it! it's been a fun project to work on and it's truly motivating to see your reaction over its result 🙏
What I love about The Darksaber is that in it's animated origins from The Clone Wars and Rebels, it's entire existence is a reference to KOTOR and SWTOR stuff like the "Deceived" cinematic, Shae Vizla, the Mandalorian Wars, and the Neo-Crusader armour. Obviously not in a "canon" way as the Legends and Canon continuities don't quite line up, but in a very nice "nudge, nudge" fandom meta kind of way. Personally I like the term "Legends" far better than "Expanded Universe", because it allows for a lot more mythological leeway when we get to treat characters like Revan as this awe-inspiring kind of Arthurian Mythos.
Every time Y'all showcase a a Star Wars prop I usually follow suit, except the DL-44. I built mine from a WE WWII Mauser Broom Handle WE712 airsoft. But I did get Mando's Vibro Blade. Will need to save for this and the Bowcaster.
Lifelong fan of adam so I hope this isn't taken badly if he ever sees it, but... What a cute video this was of a guy helping his grandpa with his new toy, lmao.
Ooo very clean, gosh even the camera shutter with the lighting on the blade makes it have that slight strobe effect just like in the show, kinda uncanny how close it looks considering that is of course animated (thinking clone wars or rebels, has that strobe under movement) OH MY GOD IT TURNS COLORS TOO
Nice and quality product! Would be a nice upgrade to paint the blade with one of the most darkest paint on the world, like: Muso Black or Black 4.0. It would be the real Darksaber.
If you think the custom chassis on that darksaber is impressive, you should see the "Master" level ones from designers like Goth3d. Lit crystal chambers are one of the simplest complications you can add to a lightsaber nowadays.
People don't even consider the volume of insignificant 3 cents parts that those companies can make. There is a man who has a 10 million dollar yatch who owns a company that makes billions of tiny little springs for pens every year.

I want a sound font with Norm saying "Copyright Disney"
Paint the sword/blade with VantaBlack
I noticed what looks to be an old Otis elevator centrifugal brake in the background? I sold a couple of those a while back to a guy in Texas, yours didn't happen to come from Texas did it?

Thank you so much Adam and Norm and the rest of the Tested team! It’s an honor 🙏🙌
Comment for the algorithm. I’ve purchased parts from Saberbay. Always a positive experience. Keep being awesome.
Did I hear it right that y'all are based in Portland Oregon now? If so, hello there from one Portlander to another.
Hello from Salem!
@@jamesallred460 right?! I thought they might be SaberForge in Oregon City, but they don't look to be affiliated.
@@jamesallred460 Bakersfield, CA actually! Likely will be moving at the end of the year but Justin resides in Portland
Great reactions guys. Glad you liked it so much. We all put a lot of love and care when we made it.
It shows without a doubt 👊🏼🫶🏼
Amazing, amazing job team. Thank you!
It was an honor to provide the blade for this! The blade came before the hilt in this case and it took the longest to get right.
Fake
@@HuskerPower97no that’s my alt account.
When you popped the hilt open for the crystal chamber, I literally gasped. Gorgeous.
If I had one of these it would live open and displayed on a shelf. The inside is just amazing.
I built one of these and One step I highly recommend its painting the crystal with a black enamel and scraping the paint away on the edges to give it that black and white aesthetic like the blade!!
I’ve been in the Sabre hobby and an attic for over four years. This is one of the most detailed and complicated dark Saber versions I’ve ever seen.
It has it's problems. I am one of RPF members that help out with this saber. It has accustic problems
Are you locked in the attic against your will? Do we need to send help?
😉
I always love Adam's" Xmas morning" reaction to a new prop
Wow, that is a gorgeous Darksaber. It is the first one I have seen that looks incredible true to the screen without having a way to gerthy handle.
Any time a Tested video starts with "Adam and Norm here in my cave" you know you're about to see something awesome being showcased!
There’s something magical about holding a metal lightsaber that rumbles your hand with realistic sound. Even my non SW nerd friends feel that once and get hooked.
The vibrations from the speaker really sells a saber for me. I want it to feel like there is plasma pulsing from it!
Bought lots of DIY saber parts from Justin at Saberbay. Definitely a good resource for the saber community and DIY in general. This one is really beautiful work.
Sick AF. The maker/designers didn't squander any opportunity here... they delivered.
Adam's face is all of our inner child. Adam, you're one of the coolest people I've known about.
So awesome seeing your reaction guys to the work that we put our effort and thought in! That was quite a challenge designing those custom blade connector and switches pcbs and the main 3D-printed chassis base, but the result is absolutely stunning! 😇
It truly is ! Wd guys! 🫶🏼👊🏼
Having the light up move ALONG the blade when its activated is such an inspired and amazing choice. its so much more then i was expecting when i saw the thumbnail.
Nice “In Discipline” drop Adam! I caught that!
SaberBay is an absolute blessing to the hobby! He sells DIY parts too btw peeps!! Great place to get your feet wet for building your first saber!
I love Norm. Just as he said, 'dab a glue', I immediately went 'yabba dabba glue' and then he says it a bit afterwards. I hope your kid grows up to be just like you! Never change, Norm. Never change
One things I’ve loved about this channel is the passion these guys have, it’s awesome! Never change guys.

25 years is a long time. You must have seen it all evolve from the flashlight hilts, folding toy blades, in hilt LED with sound and Neopixel.
I was watching the rocket car Mythbusters episode the other day, and it struck me how excited Adam was and the fun he was having. watching this, not much has changed. The guy just exudes pure joy.
These are my fav Episodes with Norm and Adam geeking out over something awesome. well done to the build team on the sabre , looks and sounds awesome
The Darksaber is one of the coolest weapons on film and tv history!
In a hundred years, we may very well have miniaturized technology enough for lightsabers to actually be a thing. That 3D printed metal piece is AMAZING.
Love your guys reactions! Glad to see you like the box @tested! 🥳🥳🥳
As one of the first-run supporters, I can say, without a doubt, that this is an Amazing build and I loved reading through the thread as the designs and manufacturing process were developed.
Totally amazing prop. The attention to detail and engineering of that piece is incredible.
the best feature, as pointed-out by Adam, is that this piece of pop-culture memorabilia feels like it was manufactured by hobbyists. you can always expect great things when fans of the project are involved.
Definitely. I ordered this saber in the very first wave they had and it feels made by fans for fans. There is a black series darksaber and one from Galaxy's edge as well and they are nowhere near as perfect as the Saberbay one.
Two of the biggest kids ever put a smile on my face 😊😊
I love that they use Katana terminology like the guard is the Tsuba. WhT a great prop!
So cool to see Adam still doing what he loves!
Love how Norm gets the saber and just casually backward-spins it twice... and how then delighted Adam is at the flex.
this is soooo sick. i love when hobby stuff gets made with such detail & love
ME: Im gonna buy this ASAP
3 mins later after checking the almost $1250 price tag
Me: Nevermind i like being able to eat.
for real tho its worth every penny for all the hard work they have put in much love to the creators and makers
The base hilt retails for about $400, that’s just the higher for the fully installed high end version
Fantastic video! Happy to see the Form 4 in action!
That crystal came out amazing!
Hopefully one day Saberbay can add the form 4 to the print farm !
I love how norm lite up when adam handed it to him and it activated XD that says everything you need to know about this prop
Nice - you gotta redo your last shot and have on your mando armor, in the dark, and then light the saber!!
That is a work of art! I love how excited you guys are too!
That’s one of the best sabers I’ve seen period!
Great response, moves perfectly, impressed. You guys are good
I'm nerding out over here
Now this is the perfect way to begin my Friday! Thanks for an awesome upload and magnificent Darksaber! ❤
cudos to Norm for helping Adam to keep his focus in these videos 😄
He is like a kid on xmas morning..hehe
Bit late to the party after May The 4th rush 😅
Thanks so much for your comments on this and especially on the Crystal Part we designed for it!
it's been a fun project to work on and it's truly motivating to see your reaction over its result 🙏
Nice King Crimson Easter Egg!!
its a really cool neopixel that you can build yourself. very nice design
The wirst twist color change is so sweet.
Sabers have come a long way since i got my EL blade Parks Saber almost 20 years ago
I've always been jealous of Adam's workshop, and I can live with that...
But now this? It's just too much.
Great moments. Both looked totally happy.
I really don't care about the darksaber at all, but that is one beautifully made prop.
I literally gasped when you pulled the battery out
What I love about The Darksaber is that in it's animated origins from The Clone Wars and Rebels, it's entire existence is a reference to KOTOR and SWTOR stuff like the "Deceived" cinematic, Shae Vizla, the Mandalorian Wars, and the Neo-Crusader armour. Adam dropping that "Indiscipline" quote like it was nothing... (6:41)
I would've used the the "crackle" stickers myself.
Idk man, the fact that there are stickers on such an expensive prop…. That really cheapens the design to me.
@@nicks4802 I kinda agree with you. I wish it was part of the blade somehow.
Norm Chan is a freaking national treasure. "Watch your fingers!" and the saber twirl were classic!
I love it. Especially the multiple colors. Oooh, I am so tempted....
Lifelong fan of adam so I hope this isn't taken badly if he ever sees it, but... What a cute video this was of a guy helping his grandpa with his new toy, lmao.
Damn, this prop is gorgeous.

Beautiful job, Saber Bay!
I love it how simple we are. sword and glow = Happy :)
adam savagae is simultaneously 56 years old and 6 years old at the same time. i love it.
@tested you should totally paint the black decals with black 2.0
It would give it such a nice detail since it absorbs around 99% of light
That's super cool. Made even cooler by your unadulterated joy.
I have had a soundboard for my saber since 2017, haven't yet gathered skills or courage to put it together by myself.
Which sound board ?
There are tons of great facebook groups and you tube tutorials that can help you out
We are in the future, when toys get this cool!
Awesome workmanship. Wow
RIGHT ON TIME
Did Adam make a king crimson reference? That’s amazing
Love the King Crimson reference at 6:41
Thanks for sharing! The Darksaber rocks!!!!!
Adam, you would look so badass with an omni-blade from Mass Effect.
I love that there's a deflated Fabio head visible in the background of the intro. :)
NORRRRRM! 🍺 with the sword flares acting like a badass ⚔️
Put some Vanta black on that blade and I bet it'll look super gnarly!
Did anyone else go "oh" at the same time at the very end when the blade hits the bench top? Lol so cool.
Man that thing is so freakin cool...
Yeeees I love Saber crafting. I have made only three. But GHV3 is a great soundboard.
I love that Adam made a King Crimson lyric reference
This is where the fun begins.
Ooo very clean, gosh even the camera shutter with the lighting on the blade makes it have that slight strobe effect just like in the show, kinda uncanny how close it looks considering that is of course animated (thinking clone wars or rebels, has that strobe under movement) OH MY GOD IT TURNS COLORS TOO
1250 bucks honestly seems like a great value considering all the engineering that went into that blade
Yeah the blade brings the cost up by about 250$ on it's own.
This is a Master Chassis from Goth3D 😅
This is so sick!
I love being on the RPF
Man if i had the extra money for this, always been a fan of mandalorians and this blade.
my favorite SW handle will always be Obi-Wan's from Episode 1.
Norm's got some sick saber moves.
That is such a sweet ride.
Brilliant video both , great prop .
Great vid
7:35 I heard "dab a glue" and thought "daba daba glue?" Norm did not let me down.
Wouldn't it be so cool if the vinyl for the side of the blade had black 3.0 on it?
Amazing peace of kit.
WOW! I want one!!!
You guys should of released this video on May 4th it would have been epic!
Close enough...
God that's sooo much better than the cheapo official prop
I want to own the factory that makes all those Allen keys you get in stuff😁
