When dealing with overspray you can use paint thinner on the body (do not use it on the trim or any plastics as it will damage them and leave them looking faded) this is the easiest method to tackle overspray. If you need to remove paint or overspray from plastic and trim I suggest you use Solvent as this will remove the overspray without damaging the trim/plastic. Just a tip I’ve learned :)

Hey Hunter, just a suggestion. For these big jobs, such as fleet vehicle clean ups, overspray removal, etc. I think it would benefit you and the customer if you head out to them with your personal vehicle to give them a quote and you can charge for gas and tell them that price will go towards the detail. This is just something I do whenever I receive a paint correction request.
Nice job Wayne keeping it real and honest is the best way to go at it at the end we live in a world where truth will always come out it will be just a matter of time when it does. Blessings keep up the good information
I'm pretty sure you've already knocked this out but one word of advice I would offer is this: Find a spot that's a pretty good representation of the damage for each individual car, from there start with the least aggressive method to remove it and get a good result and then take notes about it and what worked best for each one and then work at em in your preferred order. I like to knock out the most challenging thing first and work backwards so my job gets easier as I get tired. One method is not going to work out on all the cars. Even if they're all facing the same contamination as a group or the overspray in this case came from the same source the surface that it's landing on and bonding to has differing characteristics and there are just environmental differences on a small scale that will impact it. The biggest consideration in overspray or heavy contamination in my opinion is how long or strongly is it bonded, and what is the paint underneath like? The mission is always to remove it while doing the least harm possible resulting in the least amount of additional work for you to bring that surface back to the level it was at before the incident. Now if you take that and apply it to this scenario, with a place I could dealership or rental company dealing with high volumes of cars, It's very likely these had already had a pre-sale detail That they were okay with, so I wouldn't be looking for them to be very interested in upsells or anything like that because they just want to get the cars back to the acceptable level that it was at before in most cases. That leaves you with some options here, and I would always just try to present them to the customer to get to know their preferences better and ideally build a better long-term relationship. I'd say depending on how extensive the overspray is (is the vehicle something you can somewhat spot treat for example), I would present the scenario as: "okay do you want me to just address the overspray and contamination issues and get the vehicle back to the level it was previously, or do you want me to address the overspray removal and then do something like a paint enhancement on all the vehicles afterwards just to bring them up to a uniform and hopefully overall improved appearance as a group rather than just getting them back to presentable? I would also offer the caveat that depending on all the factors and what you find out when you get in there, there is every chance that you may end up having to do a full two step cut on some of the vehicles, or some spots at least. In regards to that last part I would tell the customer that I can work on our agreed on approach and then from there call them if anything crazy really pops up to see how they want to deal with it. Honestly if it's high volume, I would do my test spots so I have a hopefully somewhat accurate view of what the overall project is going to be on every car as some will be harder and some will be easier, and then just put together a package consisting of overspray removal, and a one step enhancement. At minimum you're going to be doing a lot of spot polishing anyway so it makes more sense to try and lump it all together and present it as you giving the customer somewhat of a package deal to help him out and get the result you feel is representative of your work. Then when you're actually doing the work look for any spots or any little things you can do to go above and beyond that typically wouldn't be included but aren't really costing you any extra time or effort, and when you present the final results and go over them with the client you have lots of stuff to point out to them that you gave them for "free" and the cars will look more than presentable they'll stand out because of those little touches. Depending on volume it's important to look at building a foundation or a stronger relationship with the customer as the upsell opportunity because you're hopefully creating consistent easy work for yourself in the future. I know in this case it's the painting company that hired you but assuming they do a lot of painting you May be able to leverage yourself into a position of who they turn to or finish work or even doing quick interiors or one steps before they present a vehicle back to the client for example.

I love your page man, you have helped me with m 20 times over. Had a Spray Foam job all over a black Ram.... Clay is the way. Did it about 2-3 weeks ago and Company paid to avoid insurance claim. Customer was stuck in awe.
I detail for 4 body shops, overspray on windows, i use laquer thinner and even on certain paints it comes right off. Of course clay each car as well. Then wax to finish. Just that outside process is $400 a car
Hunter i dealt with silicone over spray the way we did it was. rupes machine add a clay pad and our lubricant was water def recommend a iK sprayer. hope you see my comment probably done with the job !
Wayne, you are the REAL DEAL MAN! Yup, owning a business is hard. My first gig was a dj gig. I had a sound system and friend's dad wanted me to dj her graduation. I did not know anything! I had nothing but at the end of the day, they were happy with my service. I felt great and made 200 bucks for 3 hours.
Use P & S solvent X for paint over spray had to do 5 cars like that 3 weeks ago. Three man crew....knock it out in 8 hours Keepin' it wet mobile car wash and Detail
Hunter! Good tip for windows that need that razor blade. Use Steel Wool grade #0000! Doesnt scratch the window but is hard enough to remove any imperfections! Must be grade #0000!
My Brother use a little gas with water to wash of the gas of the car. We did this trick working in Auto Body. Rub a little gas in a towel. Rub on the over spray spots. Wipe after or spray with water. Work well bro.
Yea bro. Overspray always going to need correction. So charge accordingly. For these cases you’ll need to see how bad it is, how long it will take. And charge accordingly ✊🏽✊🏽 keep grinding and always learning
I ran into a situation like that . that over spray on vichle was just to much like 2 layers of spray on paint surface. An first panel i hit it with clay mitt an nothing . to rough . so washd an dry car an . had to pop open a new clay bar to get job done . am old school an clay bar is one of my to go tools no doubt.
That's a tough job. I've delt with a similar situation but with dry concrete mix. Very time consuming work. Just takes time. And time is money. Anything is possible. My take on this I would have started with super clean the whole car
Man this is crazy. Tape up all the plastic, microfiber with a bit of diluted paint thinner, follow up with panel prep and a spray wax, you'll be done in 30 minutes. For the glass, us a fine flat razor blade and some soapy water it'll come off so quick.
It’s ok not to know everything, but we can all learn from watching RUclips videos on how someone who’s been there has done it . So we won’t be struggling
If heavy clay bars are used, most of the time the vehicles will get scratched up pretty bad. Which will require a correction right after. If overspray use a solvent based type chemical to remove it the over spray. Let the chemicals work!! Make sure not to spray it on black pieces( rubber or plastic) it will fade.
Mechanical decon works well but I have found some times that using some chemicals like goofoff will help take some spray paints off and they have a product they is called over spray eliminator it works great I have used it on some cars that got spray painted on and it took it off.
I do over spray removal for a company that does polyurethane spray for roofs. The wind grabs it and hits cars sometimes. Only thing that works for that is letting the car sit in the sun for about a month and then clay barring it. UV rays break it down. When you get in to this type of work, you need to unfortunately get out of the detailing mind set. The client does not want to fix the swirl marks on the persons car. If swirls were there when you showed up, no need to remove them even after clay barring. They simply just want you to remove the overspray. I tell my overspray clients the cause and effect. I Say I need to go aggressive and that will leave imperfections behind that can be fixed with a polish but that will cost more. We settled on if the car is marred and swirled before I start working, don't worry about polishing. If it's perfect paint before I start working, polish it. This communication and giving him options has allowed us to do business with each other for a long time now.
Yo bro.... 0000-00000 steel wool for those windows next time. Little iso spray to soften it up by the time you spray the windows down by the time you get back to the first one it's good to go
Hey hunter P@S sell a chemical called Solvent X does a really good job for overspray sometimes but I recommend some acetone for overspray or paint thinner really easy to use as long as your out of the sun and cleaning off the surface you had it on 👍
Use 0000 bronze wool to remove debris like overspray from glass and glass only. 0000 bronz wool is safe to use on glass. 0000 bronze wool will conform to the shape of the glass. DO NOT USE 0000 BRONZE WOOL ON PAINT BECAUSE IT WILL SCRATCH THE PAINT!
One time I got called out to a job where the painter was spraying stucco on a house and the pressure hose burst and shot stucco all over the customers new car. I assumed it would be an easy job however it turned out to take me two whole days. The only way I could get it off was using a vinegar/alcohol mixture and degreaser to soften it up and chipping it off with a plastic razor. It came out really good and I got paid $400.
I would've asked from the get go can I move these to my shop for a better working environment after seeing qll that sand and dirt awe hell naw 🤣 if they said no or even hesitiated that's not the right customer for me..... 🤷🏿♂️🤣🔥

My brother, check out and network with Apex and Miranda detailing. IMO, these are two of the best when it comes to dealing with the situation you had. Just my opinion. Many God continue to bless you and your family and business.
For everyone saying body shop, it was not a body shop. Think about it body shops use a booth. Context clues show this was most likely a commercial painting company painting the exterior of a building on a windy day, which would cause the paint to carry over that brick wall 🤦🏼♂️. It happens all the time.
ohh yeah i would have charged them the same 800 a pc . if the painting company goes thur insurance each car owner has to make a claim which will make the painting companies insurance sky rocket to to mention the headace for the car owners that have to wait and go to different body shops or detailers . thats hit brotha !! gluck your dead on with the price . knock um out a move on tot the next set

Hi. Thank you for all the information you share with us. I am trying to click on the link to learn how to create the app but it’s not working. Can you assist? Thanks
We would charge between $1200 -$2200 per car because the owners of the car are going to be very picky they will expect their cars to look brand new when your finished
Set a price, respect the price and get to work. I know it's a business but i wouldn't do business with a guy who called me 2 or 3 times to just bump up the price.
Hunter I know you’ve been asked this many times my dude, but how do you detail in the sun? I have had people ask me if I can mobile detail but I tell them no because of unknown/ less than ideal conditions outside. I live in Buffalo so I could only realistically do it a few months anyway but like you I don’t like telling a customer no.
YOU HAAAAAVE AAAAAAAAAAAAAA LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT OF PATIENCE BROTHER IM TRYNA WORK ON THAT ASS WELL NOT LETTING STUFF FRUSTRATE ME BECAUSE IM ONLY GOING TO GET A NEGATIVE OUTCOME WHEN I CAN TRY TO MAKE IT A POSITIVE THING AND MAKE MY SELF FEEL EVEN BETTER I LIKE THAT

Yea with what grant said but if it’s a monthly/weekly reoccurring maintenance customer I’d say keep the price around what u were already charging depending on what ur doin
Like I do 2 cars every Friday that are weekly reoccurring and literally Their cars are inna underground garage brand new whips they don’t even like tire shine or shiny interior either I’m n and out in 1 to 2 hours and made a sleazy $85 usual I charge $100-120 minimum but they’re cars literally don’t even need a weekly detail but shoot I’m not complaining🫡😂
Lmao bro if you don't know what your doing then you don't need to be detailing the car with overspray not being a ass or anything but I never take on work that I don't know how or what to do to knock it out ! That's how screw-ups happen then your paying out your pocket to get it fixed ! Just saying my dude no hate here, love the videos!
This was supposed to be an easy job bro especially for 350 for each car. You need to invest in yourself as well and start taking classes to shape that detailer mentality so you can become more efficient and more knowledgeable on the job that is provided. Keep it up bro you're diving in head first, you're doing well for a beginner detailer
Lol 😂 I brought 6 different clay bars. This was a different beast. The company even said they can’t figure out how to get off the overspray and they made it.
You have to learn how to measure twice and cut once in this business. You right when you said what's the point in having a shop if you aint using it. Have them drop the cars off at your shop. No UBER needed.
True advise from the Real Deal Listen to all y’all preaching of not having confidence Listen carefully and listen well for this I’m about to tell If a child of five years old can sell lemonade If a old man of 85 years old can sell lemonade Ideally speaking they never mentioned anything regarding Confidence Either you do it or you don’t fact is either way you’re going home at the end of the day The differences either you go home as a man that you did something or as a boy you did nothing that’s it If a young 5 year old boy can make a man decision If a 85-year-old man can make a man decision Then what’s the issue with any age boy to make a true mad decision
Bruh that poor paint shop owner, dudes gonna be spending $3000 on some car washes for someone else. My detailing business had a random accident this week that's also expensive, and it just makes ur heart sink
Big companies like that make BANK so 3000$ instead of the vehicle owners suing or complaining can get that company in BIG trouble for over spray like that so 3000$ isn’t too big of a problem for a company making a lot of money lol

Paint correction of course is an extra charge, probably making it $600-$800 car
Keeping it real is what I subscribed to this channel for. Great video, what’s the update? How did they like the cars?
Hunter i dealt with silicone over spray the way we did it was. rupes machine add a clay pad and our lubricant was water def recommend a iK sprayer. hope you see my comment probably done with the job !
& gotta give s/o to the camera for asking all the right questions 💪🏽
Wayne, you are the REAL DEAL MAN! Yup, owning a business is hard. My first gig was a dj gig. I had a sound system and friend's dad wanted me to dj her graduation. I did not know anything! I had nothing but at the end of the day, they were happy with my service. I felt great and made 200 bucks for 3 hours.
That's a tough job in a rough environment good luck trial and error is how you gotta learn sometimes
We start at a 1000.00, for over spray removal. It amazes me how little you charge.
Use P & S solvent X for paint over spray had to do 5 cars like that 3 weeks ago. Three man crew....knock it out in 8 hours
Keepin' it wet mobile car wash and Detail
did you have to machine polish afterwards ?
Laque thinner works good just have to be in the shade
Yes, It's actually easier and faster than clay bar although still suggested for doing after thinner.
Break parts cleaner then wax n buff it out. Im just a DIY guy that got over spray on my Tahoe. Right or wrong .Thats what I did and it worked.
On the harder spots you can use goof off to retrieve the overspray. Good luck hunter wish you well!
For windows def recommend steel wool buy 2 packets hope they get through the vehicles 🙌🏽
Just keep doing you I feel like you going to learn on that field
If heavy clay bars are used, most of the time the vehicles will get scratched up pretty bad. Which will require a correction right after. If overspray use a solvent based type chemical to remove it the over spray. Let the chemicals work!! Make sure not to spray it on black pieces( rubber or plastic) it will fade.
what type of solvent based type spray chemical are you referring to?
@@mariomcmichael3230 Depends if the contamination is oil based or water based.
Mechanical decon works well but I have found some times that using some chemicals like goofoff will help take some spray paints off and they have a product they is called over spray eliminator it works great I have used it on some cars that got spray painted on and it took it off.
Got that SI looking Good
Wats good bruh I detail too take your time it will come to you keep pounding 💯
We know you wash then clay bar but did you use iron removal?
Did you try iron removal?? Apc spray or in a foam cannon so it can dwell on the paint??
Would apc pre rinse have melted that overspray paint?????
One time I got called out to a job where the painter was spraying stucco on a house and the pressure hose burst and shot stucco all over the customers new car. I assumed it would be an easy job however it turned out to take me two whole days. The only way I could get it off was using a vinegar/alcohol mixture and degreaser to soften it up and chipping it off with a plastic razor. It came out really good and I got paid $400.
$800 per vehicle is good, my opinion. Still working on a price for my detail business too.
so am I bro
I would've asked from the get go can I move these to my shop for a better working environment after seeing qll that sand and dirt awe hell naw 🤣 if they said no or even hesitiated that's not the right customer for me..... 🤷🏿♂️🤣🔥
Learning from you my Brother - Pittman and sons auto detail San Diego 30÷ years. Fyi:)
Yo wayne WD-40 and clay sponge or bug scrubber has for for me in paint scuffs but it still is a huge pain to get that stuff off
Sunday I have my 1st Clay Bar job I've been detailing cars since Nov 5th now I'm stuck on how much I should charge to do a Clay Bar job I haven't told them the price yet but I'm thinking I do it for 450
Bro that ladder behind your head is a huge liability. Front end collusion would leave you with a big dilemma. Stay safe brother and strap your tools down
My brother, check out and network with Apex and Miranda detailing. IMO, these are two of the best when it comes to dealing with the situation you had. Just my opinion. Many God continue to bless you and your family and business.
where did you buy the clay mitts at?
There is some chemical product like cement removal which meant car paint and its totally safe for paint. You might want to test it for future job.
you got a link for that?
@@mariomcmichael3230 Maybe you could try to find at your local store
@@andrewcyh sure will
What's the actual name of the product?
@@andrewcyh oh gotcha
It's a scavenger hunt haha
So hunter is suppose to look for "a chemical product like cement removal" that you suggested that you don't know the name of basically hahaha haha...okay
What type of advice is that?...how does this help him grow and learn?
@@mariomcmichael3230 sorry bro.. i think its a mistake. That was my second message. I did posted the name of the product with the link before that message, not sure why it is missing. Is there any rules which not allows us to post link here?
Let me try again here, if its missing again, i'll pm u
In my experience the mit clay does not work as nearly good as the actual clay bar for removing over spray.
buffing and polishing would be the easiest way i work at carvana’s IC
Let’s go!
I would of wet sanded and polish not a big job at all 2500 3000 grit get rid of the over spray either way compound and polish has to be use to get that shine back
Onr make gallons by the cents
Detail Spray
Hi. Thank you for all the information you share with us. I am trying to click on the link to learn how to create the app but it’s not working. Can you assist? Thanks
We would charge between $1200 -$2200 per car because the owners of the car are going to be very picky they will expect their cars to look brand new when your finished
Thanks for that info!!
Set a price, respect the price and get to work. I know it's a business but i wouldn't do business with a guy who called me 2 or 3 times to just bump up the price.
a little bit of paint thinner goes a long way in these situations
YOU IN THE RIGHT PRICE BRACKET CHAMP
Why didn't you try eulex
Hunter I know you’ve been asked this many times my dude, but how do you detail in the sun? I have had people ask me if I can mobile detail but I tell them no because of unknown/ less than ideal conditions outside. I live in Buffalo so I could only realistically do it a few months anyway but like you I don’t like telling a customer no.
Deionized water
I detail black escalades in direct sunlight.
I love your vids and that you’re a Christian based company!!
Agree
Haha camera guy is funny good stuff though I like the videos
YOU HAAAAAVE AAAAAAAAAAAAAA LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT OF PATIENCE BROTHER IM TRYNA WORK ON THAT ASS WELL NOT LETTING STUFF FRUSTRATE ME BECAUSE IM ONLY GOING TO GET A NEGATIVE OUTCOME WHEN I CAN TRY TO MAKE IT A POSITIVE THING AND MAKE MY SELF FEEL EVEN BETTER I LIKE THAT
What kind of a painting company is it? If it's automotive painting. I'm very surprised they didn't take care of it.
I need to raise my prices ASAP . I’m barely getting a hundred per detail , some people are cheap … anyone knows how I get around that ?!
Yeah you raise the prices and those people disappear and the good ones appear , just focus on the quality and service . Real spenders don’t care about the money
@@granthorn3013 I appreciate that advice Bossman 💯
Yea with what grant said but if it’s a monthly/weekly reoccurring maintenance customer I’d say keep the price around what u were already charging depending on what ur doin
Like I do 2 cars every Friday that are weekly reoccurring and literally Their cars are inna underground garage brand new whips they don’t even like tire shine or shiny interior either I’m n and out in 1 to 2 hours and made a sleazy $85 usual I charge $100-120 minimum but they’re cars literally don’t even need a weekly detail but shoot I’m not complaining🫡😂
@@n1ggawithaclappedaltima8402 your maintenance is 85-100 😳😳 I only charge 45-60 for mine … I need to stop playing and raise prices a little more
Keep it up brotha😬
If you had Koch Chemie Eulex you would have knocked out all 6 in the same day. 🙌
What extractor is that hunter?
No mineral spirits/solvents? Comeon man
It's a lot of hate in these comments smh... Press on and have continued success!
Rubbing Alcohol work fast
Hi
Paint gloss is an expensive clay lube.
I swear y’all be tripping too much sometimes lol. Overspray ain’t a big deal. Claybar will get it out. Hell, even your finger nail.
Lol 😂 I brought 6 different clay bars. This was a different beast. The company even said they can’t figure out how to get off the overspray and they made it.
@@HuntersMobileDetailing Was it water based or oil based?
Those ladders dangerously placed in your van, be careful.
You have to learn how to measure twice and cut once in this business. You right when you said what's the point in having a shop if you aint using it. Have them drop the cars off at your shop. No UBER needed.
True advise from the Real Deal
Listen to all y’all preaching of not having confidence
Listen carefully and listen well for this I’m about to tell
If a child of five years old can sell lemonade
If a old man of 85 years old can sell lemonade
Ideally speaking they never mentioned anything regarding Confidence
Either you do it or you don’t
fact is either way you’re going home at the end of the day
The differences either you go home as a man that you did something or as a boy you did nothing that’s it
If a young 5 year old boy can make a man decision
If a 85-year-old man can make a man decision
Then what’s the issue with any age boy to make a true mad decision
Bruh that poor paint shop owner, dudes gonna be spending $3000 on some car washes for someone else. My detailing business had a random accident this week that's also expensive, and it just makes ur heart sink
Big companies like that make BANK so 3000$ instead of the vehicle owners suing or complaining can get that company in BIG trouble for over spray like that so 3000$ isn’t too big of a problem for a company making a lot of money lol
