    Could you do a video about GC pre qualification applications for subcontractors? I am trying to expand but many companies want information from the past 3 years and as a new company I am finding it hard to get around that hurdle.

    • @iambuilders
      @iambuilders  2 месяца назад

      Hey Jacob. Not everybody is asking for such big requirements. You might be going after the picky general contractors.
      Try going after medium sized general contractors. If you go to thebluebook.com can you do a search for general contractors in your area, all those guys that pop up are serious construction companies that are accepting bids all the time. All you have to do is reach out to them and ask them to get on their bid list.
      Make sure you follow up in person with an in person visit and shaking hands.

    So thankful God revealed your page to me today. My husband has worked in a family owned, general contractor, construction company for 30 years. He is the boots on the ground guy per say. Foreman ,equipment operator the best in our area I might add 😉 labor hand even job creator or P.R.guy the people person. All this to say he’s not a computer or office person but I am and I’m trying to learn how to do that side of the job as quickly as possible.We have been given the opportunity and support from his boss/dad to go after work just with his backing and paid off equipment just have to pay back a percentage of profits to him. All this to say your videos help me tremendously on how to support my husband and direct us correctly. Thank you!

    so you do estimating for contruction companies, and then you know the low bidder because you filed the estimates for them. and then you deal with your favourite companies below the table and give them the lowest bidder (lowest bid which you estimated for them) basically selling the confidentiality Data to your preferred builder which sat before you in the table and spent one hour of their valuable time to chat and look you in the eye and built relationship with you, so they win the bid with the inside information you gave them, and the other guy which you still charged them for your estimating service lost the bid because you:
    for one you gave them the high bid which you know is not favored by clients
    two, they lost because you gave away their secret bid price so they are beaten..
    the whole idea of bidding is that every person, will without any knowledge of their competitors bid price, must at their best provide their price at which they will do the project to their best quality and at the lowest price creating competitive environment that is fair because no one knows the other persons price. the only given information is the Details of the project which must be completed and its requirements of execution.
    HOW IS IT EVEN LEGAL WHAT YOU ARE DOING ? corruption at its best

    • @iambuilders
      @iambuilders  Год назад +1

      Aziz 😂😂 quite a story. Where did you get all of this? It’s simple - our contractors are busy people and don’t have time to estimate to keep growing their companies or they don’t know how to. We do the estimates so they can focus on running their jobs and being owner-operators of their business.
      No inside information here.… you might want to consider a career in script writing for the movies.
      Anyway, if you need help growing a construction business rather than complaining about what other are doing, please let me know and we’re here to help.

    I’ve been a real estate flipper and developer for the past 7 years, and I started the process to get my residential building contractor license in Virginia. I heard that it’s harder to get pre-qualified and that the test is challenging, especially because Virginia is a Commonwealth state. Does this mean that, since the process is more difficult, the license carries more value for securing jobs and makes the market less competitive?

      The biggest thing is, you have to learn how to find leads, estimate the jobs, negotiate, and finally you get the contract. Then you can actually perform the work, which you already know how to do. A lot of guys don’t realize that to start your own company you need to learn a whole new set of skills, we can have our 8-Figure Contractor Academy that teaches you and your team everything you need to grow a construction business, including professional construction management and sales. Let me know if you are interested.

    Do you know of any good lead generation sources for Residential GC's looking to start in the residential market? Usually the residential stuff is looking for a specific sub (ex: painter, or flooring sub) instead of an actual GC. I don't mind starting small, but I am hoping to find a source for leads of at least remodels or additions, garage/shed builds. Things like that while I build by Brand, company, and portfolio. Great content on your channel and thanks for any advice.

    • @iambuilders
      @iambuilders  2 года назад +5

      Hi Bobby. So the best method for residential is going to be using a digital marketing agency to get leads from Google. The second best is Home Advisor. The only thing I would advise with Home Advisor is pick only the high income zip codes. Go to Zillow.com and find the zip codes that have the highest home values and call Home advisor and tell them you only want those zip codes. Otherwise you’ll get low value leads.
      Getting your own leads on Google is going to be the best because you don’t have to share the leads with other contractors. The thing is most contractors don’t know how to do this. If you call me at my office I could recommend you a digital marketing agency that we’ve worked with before that can help you. 305-433-6432. -Daniel
