  • The best spring bass lures come in many different shapes and sizes. The deal is that there is actually 3 phases to springtime bass fishing and they all require different lures to get the job done.

    During prespawn bass are just moving up out of deeper water and they tend to hit lures like chatterbaits, jerkbaits, and jigs really well. During the spawn I really like to slow down and use lures like frogs fished slowly, wacky rigs and texas rigs.
    Moving to postspawn, I typically like baitfish oriented lures likes spooks and deep diving crankbaits. However, I will pick up a big worm when I need to slow down!
    BassFishingHQ is dedicated to teaching people how to catch more and bigger bass. I will go over different bass fishing tips & techniques that will put more fish in the boat or on the shore. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned tournament angler, my goal is to help you catch more bass.

    You, NEVER disappoint!
    I am a female angler and just turned pro. My first tournament is in the beginning of March. I need to practice but the weather has been horrific.
    Instead of moping around I turn on RUclips and listen/watch you as I go about my daily tasks and I actually think that I learn more about my craft than if I had fished that day.
    Thank you so very much!😊

    Love rapala countdown and suspending. I dipped into my saltwater stash and used 5inch zman's on a 1/4oz. swim head last week in a weedy pond and did well.

    Great video I always learn watching your stuff. I am surprised that you did not recommend a large swim bait for the free spawn in the spring. I found that to be very exciting and it’s the only time of the year you can do it.

    Just went Bass fishing last Sunday. The first of March. Weather in the lower 50's little wind. Wanted to see if fishing with red lures works. Well, It did! Caught 15 bass in about 2.5 hrs. Started with a off colored red and translucence Wiggle wart that I found in my Father old tackle box. It produced the biggest 3 bass of the day. 1- 3 pounder and 2- 2.5 pounders. Then went to a Red craw lipless lure. It came in 2nd. Catching 5 -1 pounders. Then a red and black Chatterbait with a Green Pumpkin and Purple Sweet Beaver Trailer. Another 5 Largemouth bass. The rest of the catches were on different red baits. So, Yes The red color lures work. Shawn.

    Like you said about the bedding fish and the frog, you are absolutely correct and another thing I've noticed is when you can actually see the bed and the fish are just acting kinda funny and they aren't really locked on to the bed, sometimes you can throw a frog or popper right over the bed and 1 of 2 thing is going to happen. Either the fish is going to eat the frog or it's going to position itself between the frog and the bed and then you can normally go back in with a plastic or jig and the fish will be easier to catch.

    • @5.7hemi79
      @5.7hemi79 3 года назад

      If the fish ever swims off you can throw a slow moving topwater and it will normally come back.

    I’ve used buzzbaits to catch fish on beds the key to that tho is throwing parallel to the beds in stead of straight to a spot like normal fishing techniques.. I solid black buzz baits 99.9 percent of the time.. idk if it’s a confidence thing or that it just works booyahs buzzbait with the little clacker thing works wonders :) 😊

  • @huckleberry490
    @huckleberry490 Год назад

    I think the best bait is whatever your most comfortable throwing or flipping,down here its gotta be weedless,in march our bass are in cover or on wood,if you get hung up then you missed out on a possible big fish

    Caught a 4lber in smith mountain lake in Va during the spawn last year, sight fished her right off her bed with that exact wacky rig and sinko setup. Took a few casts to hit that spot that triggered her reaction.
