This is one of the examples of what I wanted to see people or devs do in UE5. The potential is there to do stylistic and artistic graphics, not just the generic realistic looking assets and maps.
The assets aren't done un UE5, what are you even talking about?
@@knuckles7410 Yes they are not modeled in UE5 but the whole lighting and shader rendering is done in UE and that is litterally what's give the anime looks so he's right.
i mean unity is better for stylized games, honestly the only thing that ue5/4 has going for it is realistic graphics
Honestly the perfect game for me would be a chill out slice of life game where I can explore whole Japan in Anime style. Just walking through towns, having lunch, enjoying nature or historic sites, going camping or hiking. I would absolutely love that.
The first shenmu did this for me. going to the store buying gumball toys. feeding the cat. Going to the docks and working the forklift to get more money for collectables. I loved those aspects of the game!
if i was rich, i would make that happen, and even more possibilities

this can't work on a normal pc. you need at least rtx 4090 or a graphic card like that
also most of it is pre-rendered video. there is no any computer can run it (mostly)
so this is not a game

I'm still waiting for modern games to adopt this look. It is a semi realistic look with a mix of NPR and PBR techniques. It looks much cleaner. It reminds me how Stray is rendered. It is realistic but slightly stylized with some painted textures. It is such a nice blend!

Amazing work! I wonder if it possible to make a scene like from an anime with this. For example 2 characters talking on the street or in the restaurant. And make it feel like its an anime.

it depends, but it be weird to have a high detailed background and flat 2d characters in the shot.
@@f8keuser that's just some shader tweaks and some kind of post-processing/ filter which is far better than drawing them each by hand

Truly remarkable work, also I asbolutely love the fact that you showed us the process! I am familiar with most of the stuff you went through, but could you also make some more detailed tutorial series for us? Lots of passionate gamemaker wannabes here I believe! (I am one of them, but only worked with Unity 3D, not with Unreal)

Cool to see you used 3ds Max in the creation of this scene. (2:58) In general 3D has so many different tools to master. (I am finally starting to learn animation myself!)
I find it fun and easy to make textures, but getting them to run efficiently for a realtime game engine like UE seems like a hard step. Amazing work though!

We're getting closer to fully cgi backgrounds in anime that are 100% indistinguishable to your usual anime backgrounds..

copy pasting assets from google and stretching the mesh at random isn't very AAA.
@@shiytp even for copy pasting, this style is still very rare in the AAA market these days. im pointing out the artstyle in this video, not how authentic the asset is.
its not wrong using asset from google as long as its only for learning to build the stage, not selling it to public, that's called asset flipping. asset can be rebuild, but its up to the dev to put effort into the new asset.
@@dewa1808 i agree it looks great overall, but when i saw the lack of effort with the textures, and you wanting to get this guy hired, i wanted to raise my concern. (even AI art would be more ethical)
@@shiytp i want to know what do you mean by lack of effort by your standard. for me, when i looking at this video, i thought yeah its still need some work, but the progress is still there even for the guy who just starting up. it need to start from somewhere. i just want appreciate some good thing even its not met anybody's standard. that why i said AAA need to hire this guy.
@@shiytp im curious what you mean by "copy-pasting assets from google" . as far as is see ,the author has used some images for billboards/ graffiti and storefronts. The rest of the textures are hand painted probably, including street textures, buildings etc. It is ok to use what the author has used if it has been credited in some way idk. Its common practice especially in a "Demo" or POC where you have limited time to do everything (unless you wanna make EVERYTHING from scratch) . Unless you work in a team of a few people where everyone has pre-assigned jobs, it is ok to do this if you are doing this on your own. Just saying. THe work here is fantastic ! There is no "lack of effort" whatsoever here as you pointed out , and i am in the industry myself.
