    This movement is taken from Biu Jee and the Mook Jong form.
    He makes it look very easy but if you try it against someone trying to stop you, it will become apparent how difficult it is to perform.
    Good for all Martial Arts / Kung Fu practitioners to try out !

    *A note about this channel the lineage:
    Sifu Nima King is the owner and team leader of Mindful Wing Chun, a CST Wing Chun school in Hong Kong with affiliations around the world. Mindful Wing Chun is wholeheartedly dedicated to passing on the internal wing chun method as passed down by Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin who was the longest serving student of Grandmaster Ip Man. Chu Shong Tin lived with Ip Man for 5 years (1950-1955) and was coined the title ' the king of siu nim tao' by his master Ip Man.
    He was a legend in the world of Wing Chun (in particular the internal method of wing chun) and spent 64years passing it on full-time before he passed away in 2014. Nim King practiced under hin in Hong Kong for 9 years and established Mindful Wing Chun under CST's guidance. Nima is also on the board of Directors for the 'Chu Shong Tin Alumni' which is a group of senior students of CST that were hand picked by him to establish the Alumni and to uphold and continue his teachings and Wing Chun legacy after he passed away.
    Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin was a very humble and low-key Wing Chun Master therefore its only after we began putting his videos online, that people started to hear about him. In fact, majority of the main Wing CHun teachers (of the Ip Man lineage) who began practice in the 50s and early 60s (apart of Leung Sheung and Lok Yiu) were trained by CST even-though they were Ip Man's students. This is due to CST being the most snr and main teacher of Ip Man's school in those days.
    Nima was lucky to start his practice under CST in 2005 because that's when CST decided to change his teaching to all internal practice so that he can pass on "Nim Tao' and 'Nim Lik' (the mind power/energy cultivated through internal Wing Chun practice) to his students.
    Nima, even though a non-chinese and much younger than the other students of CST, attained a high level of these final teachings. He now mainly teaches the seniors within this lineage and also travels around giving workshops and is working on an online program so that master CST's teaching can have a greater reach.

    Inspite of being in such a great stature this Grandmaster was so humble gentle and kind towards each and everybody. His love can be felt even in his videos by those who have never met him. 🙏💐

    You have to remember he has been practicing Ving Tsun for over 60 years, he makes it look easy and most of the time when I visited his club his students and his grand students could not duplicate him. The internal method I feel is the icing on the cake, you have to make the cake first.

      It's been 5 years since he passed away and his top students still arent even close to replicating him. That's why he felt a bit sad cause he felt as if he has failed as a teacher. But in the last years he did find a better way to teach it when he found oit about the importance of the spine.
      Also we should take into account that he was practicing 6hrs a day 7days a week for a couple of decades (14yrs) before he opened his school. That's a lot of hours. These days not many ppl have that much time 😅

    Connection of elbow to body hence he is able to shift with the whole body, something in western wing chun you do not often see..

    • @MindfulWingChun
      @MindfulWingChun  5 лет назад +2

      Yes the 'Elbow Power' is an important aspect of it. It means that his shoulder joints are opened up and can retain the openness under pressure. 👌
      In fact, All joints must have this openness not just the shoulder, but being the main joint that connects the body to the arms it is the most crucial one for this type of power generation, hence the importance of elbow power.

      This practice (the way he taught Siu Nim Tao) is the most powerful and straightforward Qigong and internal practice that I have come acrossin my 25yrs of my journey, having being in contact with so many internal kung fu and Qigong teachers from around the world.

    The whole mass of the body is always behind each movement, that is in my opinion where the basic power comes from in Wing Chun. Then it is further increased by rotational movements, relaxation (muscle elasticity) and loosening of the joints. I might be wrong, please correct me :)

      I've had the pleasure to work with Marty Anderson here in Duluth, Minnesota USA, who was Chu Shong Tin's first non Chinese student in the 1970's. He always tell me the same thing which is what you are saying. Moving from center of mass isn't the most important thing...it's the only thing. He says "You move from center of mass and it leaves nothing behind". Check out John Kaufman being interviewed on "The Martial Man".

    Sigung Chu was incredible. Was there any emphasis on nim lik during this lesson or just the rotation and relaxation of the body and shoulder?

    • @MindfulWingChun
      @MindfulWingChun  5 лет назад +2

      There was no emphasis on using any kind of Chi/Nim Lik. Just very good joint control at play in these demonstrations

    Tendon force will not be taught openly. Unless you are a worthwhile student.

      true in many cases. Chu Shong Tin was very open with sharing in detail what he was doing, but still took us so many years to get an experiential understanding of it

      @@MindfulWingChun : To accomplish a Job you need to sharpen the Tools. Your 4 Limbs is your Tools . How do you sharpen your Tool(4 Limbs). Start from your Finger turn them into Hooks or Staggers. Your wrist like spring coil , your palm like a cleaver , your Arm, Elbow, like an iron Rod.Etc Etc.
      Throughout your whole body.Then you need Long Short and Spring tendon force which is the most important for your Tools(4- Limbs).

      During this period of his life, and while having cancer, his power decreased to around 20% of his peak which was his late 50s/early 60s. I actually never met him during those years but I can only imagine how enormous his power would've been

    • @MindfulWingChun
      @MindfulWingChun  2 года назад

      Yes, its how all Wing Chun should be. The power must be there regardless of the lineage, but its fine to can express the technique differently (not at the expense of losing this kind of 'internal' power)

      What is being taught here goes beyond language. Its about the feeling. I couldn't communicate with Master Chu the first 5years of training with him but I learned plenty through feel.
