    Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin makes it look so easy! If you didn't meet the man its very hard to believe the amount of power he could generate with such little effort.
    Ip Man students in Hong Kong ~ Wing Chun Kung Fu
    *A note about this channel the lineage:
    Sifu Nima King is the owner and team leader of Mindful Wing Chun, a CST Wing Chun school in Hong Kong with affiliations around the world. Mindful Wing Chun is wholeheartedly dedicated to passing on the internal wing chun method as passed down by Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin who was the longest serving student of Grandmaster Ip Man. Chu Shong Tin lived with Ip Man for 5 years (1950-1955) and was coined the title ' the king of siu nim tao' by his master Ip Man.
    He was a legend in the world of Wing Chun (in particular the internal method of wing chun) and spent 64years passing it on full-time before he passed away in 2014. Nim King practiced under hin in Hong Kong for 9 years and established Mindful Wing Chun under CST's guidance. Nima is also on the board of Directors for the 'Chu Shong Tin Alumni' which is a group of senior students of CST that were hand picked by him to establish the Alumni and to uphold and continue his teachings and Wing Chun legacy after he passed away.
    Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin was a very humble and low-key Wing Chun Master therefore its only after we began putting his videos online, that people started to hear about him. In fact, majority of the main Wing CHun teachers (of the Ip Man lineage) who began practice in the 50s and early 60s (apart of Leung Sheung and Lok Yiu) were trained by CST even-though they were Ip Man's students. This is due to CST being the most snr and main teacher of Ip Man's school in those days.
    Nima was lucky to start his practice under CST in 2005 because that's when CST decided to change his teaching to all internal practice so that he can pass on "Nim Tao' and 'Nim Lik' (the mind power/energy cultivated through internal Wing Chun practice) to his students.
    Nima, even though a non-chinese and much younger than the other students of CST, attained a high level of these final teachings. He now mainly teaches the seniors within this lineage and also travels around giving workshops and is working on an online program so that master CST's teaching can have a greater reach.

      +masterninja03 It's nice isn't it! Yeah I hope one day my Wing Chun becomes like that too. The best recommendation I have would be to go on the search for effortlessness, that is to use mind/intention rather than muscular force. This is something not very easy to understand until you put in many hours of practice. So my second recommendation is to train as much as possible, hrs per day. practice mainly Siu Nim Tao to find that 'state' and then try to apply it to everything else you practice.
      Chu Shong Tin said tens of times: This Type of Wing Chun is very Simple yet very difficult to achieve so we must train the right way persistently! :)

    Sigung was such a patient Master. He is so polite but the man pushed too far and even Sigung became politely pissed off 😀 This is why sparring is mostly unrealistic because you touch someones face or body and they go for the next move or disengage to try and go round, oblivious that in reality they would have just been knocked cold.

      He isn’t using structure. He is using his qi. There is no structure, there is no positioning. It’s only connecting and injecting. That’s internal wing Chun.

      @@hatefmonajemi dont try to mystify his skills.. the key here is clearly structure & positioning and that's impressive enough!
      If you want an "energy" focused rational, see it that way: His superior structure & position allows him to leverage his force input more effectively than his opponent, thus, generating more power than his oppenent quicker and effortlessly.

    This shows that this person from Ip Man was taught the modified and was probably only a master. You can see how easily he is controlling this master. Again, amazing! People who don't do wing chun don't realize that when you get to this point, you are almost unstoppable! They judge wing chun on beginners, not realizing how good this system really is against ALL OTHER SYSTEMS, including ALL BOXING DERIVATIVES, which are inherently flawed, stiff and rigid. To make the system work properly, you MUST know the entire traditional system, which is complete, and includes the proper footwork, angled step and body rotation towards the attack to see it coming. You also must use ALL TEN CONCEPTS AT ONCE! Taking even one out, such as the triangle, will weaken the structure, effecting ALL aspects of your wing chun! Since everything in wing chun depends on a strong structure, you will lose the ability to move quickly, enter in quickly, and will make your techniques and strikes weaker as well.

    • @MindfulWingChun
      @MindfulWingChun  5 лет назад +4

      Ip Man has good knowledge but his internal abilities were not even close to the level that CST achieved. His style of teaching was verbal. he would ask the senior students to teach the new ones and that's why every famous Ip Man student has a different style and a way of expressing the art. CST focused on the internal side from the beginning and Ip Man recognized that he had gained a very high ability early on which is why he called him "The King of Siu Nim Tao".

CST at full power would simply break through; he could snap wrists with just a Jut Sao, nevermind using speed and spine or elbow force. A true master is gentle and controlled in force. i wonder how his openings are lower the belt? I mean if the opponent tries to kick? And I also wo der how it works if the opponent tries to break in with force like a UFC fighter? I love wing chun but I was wondering what it would do against a style that just jump in with brute force.

    • @darkhorse888
      @darkhorse888 6 лет назад +2

      depends on the practitioner. for most brute force as in take down or wrestling will work. but for CST above and a few of his students it woudln't be as big an issue. its one thing to play chi sau. but in reality its pressure fighting with huge power.

      have you ever trained chi sau with someone that keeps showing his hand into your face or throat? it is fucking annoying, whether you respect / aknowledge the oppenent or not! ofc you will try everything to find a counter and be bitter if you dont succeed... doesnt mean that he doesn't respect him - obviously he did if he ended up training under him

    • @MindfulWingChun
      @MindfulWingChun  2 года назад

      Yeah CST was definitely being so gentle with him and trying to explain with a smile on his face, The other gentleman was a much later student at Ip's school so being a new generation student he probably wanted to see what all the hype was with CST and the older generations because training was much more different and intense during the 50s at Ip's school compared to the 60s and later periods.
      After this happened, the guy obviously hadn't understood what was being highlighted to him by CST, so one of CST's students (named Wah) who was lighter and similar age to the gentleman asked to chisau him. He really put in on him and manhandled him and the whole thing lasted less than a minute and ended with Wah's elbow about a centimeter away from the guys face as he was bend backwards near the windows. At this point the penny dropped. The gentle way of explanation doesn't always work on everyone and sometimes they need to be shown. It is martial arts the the end of the day. Back in the day that's how the masters got students, Leung Sheung and Wong Shun Leung both had a spar with Ip Man who was an older man and got man handled and joined up.
      So, after Wah did that, not only did he become a very diligent student at CSTs school for the remainder of CST's life (around 2.5yrs), but he also brought his niece to train. Her name was Audrey and actually she was very relaxed and picked up Siu Nim Tao very well. Its funny cause during the 2.5years of training at our school ,every time other westerners would come to train with CST, this gentleman was always trying to explain how remarkable CST's method was and he was not only a believer but a huge supporter :)

      Thanks for your open mind. I must explain my opinion saying that I think that chinese traditional martial arts are very high level in theory and practical aplication in the past in a time when people must fight for their lives - not the case in nowadays. So today they are totally waterdown. One needs to rescue the old methods and actaualize them and with these we must be prepared to learn with modern western fighting sports.Of course we must not forget the inner cultivation a trade mark of many chinese martial arts - WIng Chun is one of them for sure. I say this as for me this is indeed the main goal in our days, not fifgting! This is my poor opinion as a product of several decades of practicing those arts.Enjoy your way my friend!
