One of my teachers talked to me about CST and his difficulty in passing on his incredible internal ability to his students. I am currently enrolled in Nima King's online course and I can honestly say it's an inspiration. His directions and explanations line up with some of the best directed internal arts out there. My only problem with it is I can't spend enough time on it to do it justice.
Hi Tim, thanks very much for taking the time to share your experience with the Online School and writing such kind words. Yeah its challenging to find enough time in a day sometimes to get in all we want, but always tell yourself that these kinds of things are a marathon and not a sprint, and just as long as there is persistence before we know it the years of practice pile up and we really develop something real.
It's really annoying some people just don't know they've lost, or very ungrateful when the opponent were clearly holding back to not hurt them but they are too dumb to acknowledge it
Yeah that's the frustrating aspect. But usually it's because of their ignorance rather than arrogance. Perhaps they just don't know what's happening. But yeah when its ego related it's not easy to not get annoyed 😅
I've been learning Kung Fu for over decades from the same teacher, mainly Wing Chun, Hung Kuen, Sipalki-do ion bi Ryu. He's in his 70's nowadays but I'm still going there like 4, 5 days a week, even if he rarely teaches me something new I at least go there to help him in his classes, and differently from him, what I have noticed here on RUclips is that people give too much importance to Chi Sao, this is only a training method mainly to develop the sensibility, relaxation/inch power, techniques, reflexes, it's not about winning or losing, even more as it's Wing Chun vs Wing Chun, for example using Hung Kuen having iron arms I wouldn't even care to hit you if I can hit easily your arms, and if you put kicks into the Chi Sao practice you will see that is basically impossible to defend them at that closed range. So what am I trying to say is that don't give too much importance to Chi Sao, it's a training tool, there's nothing to do with real fights you won't ever punch and let your arm in the air, let people stick to your arms and even grab them, even so you still have your legs freely to use.
thanks very much for sharing Paulo, and I totally agree re your comments on chisau. As soon as it becomes about winning, ego usually gets involved and with that, most of the sensitivity goes out the door and responding turns into reacting and having predetermined plans and techniques which is not at all the point of the exercise.
@@MindfulWingChun yeah, after this video pop up to me a recent video of yours talking about Striking in Chisau and I completely agree with you, the main problem for me is people who watch all these beautiful Chisau videos on RUclips and don't understand what are they watching, or even people who practice Wing Chun and didn't had the luck to study under a great teacher as you and me for example.

Nice analysis, Nima. I was just watching old videos of Sigung Chu Shong Tin doing chi sau with Sifu Jim Fung. It seems like Sigung’s philosophy and approach towards chi sau has changed during his latter years. Cheers. ruclips.net/video/X4rqGGSMric/видео.html
Hey Patrick l, cheers for your comment mate. I don't think CST's idea on chidau changed. What he was doing in the link you shared with Jim Fung is the chidau exercises which are merely for teaching purposes. They are the same exercises that I use when teaching. They are designed to promote and cultivate the springy force in the student. Once the student develops that, the teacher can use it to teach the student the automatic responses for attack and defense. Of course if CST was just doing his own thing JIm fung would either be hit with every move, traped and unable to move the arms, burned out muscularly, or push himself off CST's structure, non of which would be good for either if their training. 😊 Hope that makes sense?

Its okay some people are really lost and teach us which is the right path
I think that quite often people feel they're letting down their own teacher if they don't do well, so they're pushed beyond their own common sense.

I would recommend a lightly-mixed background track for your vids! Like lo-fi drum and bass kinda stuff

I wonder is there any other vid of Master Chu and Master Jim Fung ??
There must be. There are some old ones of them practicing online from when Jim and Karen Armstrong came here to visit CST in the very early days.
Thanks for the Vid
