Still following you my friend but have finally lost my patience and cancelled my ID3 Max Pro Performance order. Ordered 7th July 2021 and most recent update is a July build but not guaranteed so an Autumn delivery at best. Thankfully my lease company had pre-ordered some Borns and I've secured one of these for a July delivery (V3 in Quasar Grey with 20" Hurricane machined aerowheels)...haven't lost my enthusiasm for EV ownership and will be counting down the days until July!! Keep up the great work....

Hello, you can select the charger (like Ionity) while you are in the navigation. Select a Charger on the right and the Setup on the left bottom. There you can change a lot of options related to the charger. Nice info BTW. Looking forward to the update.

ID.3 owner here, so thanks greatly for the update on 3.0. Yeah, it’d be nice to get hardware over the air as well as software, but clearly it’s not realistic, and 1st Movers like us absolutely have to know that being the 1st doesn’t mean getting everything, like the first gen iPhone people or the first to buy laptops. We’re the Guinea pigs, but I don’t care - I have a great car, it’s a major jump from ICE and mostly, I actually have one instead of waiting a year (and my resale value is super high, so I could trade up easily if I wanted to).

Huh, I had gotten the impression that it *would* preheat the battery if you explicitly navigated to a charging station and that this was need to ensure max. effect. I've only tested speed charging once and didn't bother with navigation. I got 53 kW on a station that could deliver 150. SoC at arrival a bit under 50% and I had driven 20km in 80/100/90 km/h shortly before arrival. Is that expected?

I don't understand why the route planner "range at arrival" slider only goes up to 100km, and why it's in KM and not with the SoC like ABRP. I might want, for example, to arrive at destination with 70% SoC remaining! Also, this slider shouldn't be hidden in settings, it should be easily accessible when planning the trip, and also by clicking on the destination icon on the trip preview when the trip is already planned, since for different trips I might want significantly different arrival SoC!

To make me use the integrated sat nav VW has to do several things:
    1. Better traffic data with real time information and re-routing
    2. Better UI with nicer map colours (Google maps style, not 1990s style)
    3. More fluid map scrolling
    4. Point of interest integration (very complete as Google Maps)
    5. Destination forwarding from the phone using the "share" button from every app, as Tesla does
    6. Battery pre-heating integration
    7. Better route planner with more options as ABRP
    8. Real-time charger availability informations and rerouting
    9. Charger stop planning based on statistical data to avoid charging stations that are often occupied
    10. Real-time suggestions on the instrument cluster on the optimal speed to arrive at the next charger
    11. Speed control infos with crowdsourced data also on mobile speed controls
    12. Opening times for businesses and alert messages if you route to a place that is about to close
    13. Calendar integration for auto-routing to next events by connecting it directly with Google Cal/iCloud, separated for each driver's account
    14. Ease of parking at destination icon like Google Maps and proactive suggestions on underground parking options
    15. Integration with parking payment system to pay for parking when at destination with few simple clicks from the infotainment
    16. The route planner should take in account every possible variable like temperature, elevation, weather condition, wind, battery temp, driving style, battery health, air pressure, HVAC system and so on

VW is not a software company, they will never be able to develop a navigation component that can compete with the likes of Maps, Waze,... Instead they should focus on better integrating and collaborating with those third parties and for example allow an external app via Carplay or Android Auto to read the state of charge of the vehicle and consumption so that app can use that data in order to calculate stops along the way. It's still a bit of niche right now but as more electric cars get on the road I'm sure Waze, Google, Apple,... will implement features concerning chargers etc

Drove 800 km over Easter with the ID.3. I tried the VW navigation 6 times in Germany. It always had a worse route then Google maps had. We always compared and it was always the wrong route or sending us directly into slow traffic. Yesterday he thought the autobahn was closed, but Google said it's ok. So we drove anyway and the autobahn was only closed for the other side.
So for me the navigation from VW is not usable sadly. So at the moment I use Android auto and use the search option in Google maps for chargers. Not perfect, but at least I arrive at my destination 😉.
Battery preheating should be a button or it should also work with Android auto, as long as the navigation is so bad.
