- CARNE MOLIDA CON REPOLLO (Ground Beef and Cabbage) takes me far back to my childhood, this is one of the many delicious Mexican dishes my mom prepared for us when we were growing up because it was economical and delicious. I’ve always said that my mom is the best cook in my eyes, she has a way of making any dish so delicious and this is one of them. When we walked in the door after a long day at school she always had a delicious meal waiting for us because she knew we’d get home real hungry. This dish doesn’t take a lot of ingredients, but the seasoning is able to turn a simple ground beef and cabbage into a feast, she always sided it with a big spoonful of freshly made pinto beans and homemade tortillas whether they were flour or corn. I continued the tradition of making this dish for my family and serving it just like she did. I hope you try this recipe.❤️

1 1/2 lbs Ground Beef 80/20
1/2 Medium Cabbage (1/2-1 inch pieces)
1/2 Small onion chopped
4 large Roma tomatoes diced (3 C.)
2 Green onions chopped (with 1/2 green stems)
1 tsp whole cumin
1 tsp peppercorn
2 Large Garlic Cloves
Salt (to your liking)
1 1/2 Tbsp Tomato flavored Chicken Bouillon (knorr)
4 1/2 C. Water (1/2 In molcajete)
1 large Jalapeño sliced (seeds removed)

We very much wish we could replace them but I’ve learned when I lost my Grandma who was my Mom to me, that they live eternally within our hearts and memories. NOTHING or NO ONE can take those away. It helps keep me going through life.

Reminds me of my suegra…she grew up during the Great Depression and ended up getting married and having 10 kids. I married #9…one thing she always said was, we didn’t always have alot but we were always full. Ladies like her and my grandmas seemed to be so rich when I was growing up. Rachel, I recommended this dish to my parents, and they made it and they said it was amazing! I think they served it with cornbread. Anyway they loved it, thanks for doing everything you do.
Oh my goodness Miss Rachel I made this today and it was wonderful!! I made it with the fresh cominos and peppercorns and garlic and I used my molcajete totally made a difference and I did not use any salt and it was perfect. I have now made this dish 6 times. Every time I make it, I give some to my friends. As a result, they always ask when I will make it again and to be sure to invite them to a serving. I recommend to anyone curious about this dish to make it exactly to your instructions. I never really cared for cumin but to freshly grind it makes a world of difference...yum, yum!!.. come git yourself sum!!

Rachel, I have made several of your recipes and enjoyed all of them. My favorite by far is your Pozole, yum! This recipe looked tasty so I made it today using all the ingredients including the jalapeño. We loved it. I did however add more spices (cumin, pepper and salt).
