thanks for the update on probably the only ev i would buy
Good to see that three chassis' are finally done. This shows that Aptera is progressing really fast. I am waiting for when on September 15, they show us one of those three Pi's driving down the roads of Carlsbad.
Yes so nice that the pi builds are almost ready, and production of customers vehicles will probably start in 3 weeks and in 1 year time there will be at least 20.000 driving around 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yes, in 6.5 months Aptera will build 10 PI vehicles, complete all testing, drive them, make any needed design changes, have Costamp cast and mill the production parts, get the first and second round of funding in place, get all tooling built and ready, build up an inventory of parts, and build the first customer vehicles. All of that sounds perfectly reasonable with less than 40 full-time employees.
@@JoeBManco
29 employees
And you forgot they also need to raise about 260 million (actually much more)
@@shrimptopian3392 - FYI, Aptera is all about efficiency. So, they can do it cheap and with less employees.
And renderings are cheap, pi builds unaffordable
I think that we will see some eye popping stuff next update
Yes the information is getting better and better . 😎
I thought it said next decade !
The chassis is not being made by cpc. I’m not sure why you keep saying that. The production chassis will be made by costamp. The milled ones used for pi 2-4 are being made locally in California.
You’re right , my mistake . 😔
So these aren't PI builds then, just more prototypes
@@bluetoad2668 it’s production geometry. It’s just milled aluminum instead of cast aluminum. For all production intent purposes they are interchangeable.
@@casstippit766 well, that may be true but that's not what a production intent build is. I work in manufacturing and the whole point of PI is to use the exact production method intended for final production for each part. This isn't that. They will have to do another build with the part using the actual production process. I wonder what they'll call that?
@@bluetoad2668 Agreed, but they are probably stuck between a rock and a hard space. They are desperate to get it finished and done right but the hub motors had to be deleted for a lot of reasons. That forced a redesign which meant that the P1 - P4 chassis had to change and the time required to do the molds and cast parts for the new design was going to delay everything. Time is money and they have limits to both.
So, they build P1 - P4 as machined parts based upon the production cast parts and the delay is minimized and they can get on with testing. When the real cast parts are in there may be some retesting but they will not be killing the schedule. Everything is a compromise and this is where they have done it most recently.
Well it feels a bit like a race against time, before many other affordable EVs hit the market next year... Im patiently waiting!
No lack of evs for $30-45k usd to see here at electrify everything in vancouver. They are small suvs and crossovers. Just wearing the aptera shirt got approached a ton and many were disappointed Aptera isn't here. I gave away about 40 keychains and cards to people I talked to. Great interview with Steve and sandy too.
It would have been more cost effective to have multiple frames machined rather than just one, probably 20 would be for almost the same cost.
The amount of time to make 20 is much longer and not necessarily cheaper because once the machine is loaded, it does the work. Plus you need to remember, if they made 20 and need to do a design change (which will happen) then having 1 piece of scrap vs 20 is better.
Chassis is done? One chassis, maybe; 3 chassis... don't think so. One is done (presumably for PI 2). But the chassis for PI 3 and PI 4 are still being machined (apparently somewhere in SoCal)... unless something has changed since the end-of-August update.
Yeah, aptera has only said that they have the parts
Yeah , he said PI 3 & 4 are being made so they may or may not be finished . 😎
@@freepower1082 What he said was “Chassis parts for PI3 and PI4 are in production and will be arriving in the next few weeks.” Since it's a week later now, maybe the PI3 and/or PI4 chassis are in hand now!
@@freepower1082pi assembly starts Tuesday based on discussion with Steve fambro this morning. The future is bright.
ccibinel you wouldn’t happen to have a video of him saying that would you , I would love to post it ! 😎
So we can see the pictures of the 4 chassis, or not ??
Remember Munro’s “Wheels on the ground by September”?
Maybe this is the year.
Elio redux??
send it to china and we can buy one in a few months. I also think that time will soon run out of them.
They have been at this for what seams like 10 years and they just got the drive train
22 years actually, they started the first aptera website in 2002
22 years and still not going strong
Thing thing will never a product you can buy.
Why are you showing old renders and clips? Show us the chassis instead. Obviously Aptera will lie about anything including hub motors, patent ownership, and legal issues, but that doesn't mean you have to. Where did they put the parts that were in the space that is now occupied by the motor and axles?
Don't ask those questions, the loyal followers don't like any suggestion that the Aptera guys aren't being completely honest with them. It interferes with their confirmation bias/ honesty bias 😂
The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. You can't just jump to conclusions and imply that nothing new is happening because you don't have new photos.
It's insanely ignorant.
@@pavanbiliyar Fact: title says the chassis are done, but no evidence is given. Fact: Aptera lied about the hub motors when they've known for at least one year when Sandy Munro said in August 2023 that the launch edition wouldn't have hub motors. Fact: Aptera didn't disclose the dispute with Zaptera for two years. Fact: Aptera has lied over and over about timelines and completed parts. Fact: in 2022 they said the battery pack was designed and ready for production only for this year to show us a completely different battery pack.
Fact: the fans of this bait and switch company are showing just how insanely ignorant they can be.
@@pavanbiliyar true, but the fact remains that the absence of evidence should worry you. Especially if you have given money to these people. Oh, and what Joe said too.
@@JoeBManco the fans are victims of confirmation bias, it's a phenomenon most dramatically demonstrated in strange religious doomsday cults but it's also at work here. Aptera relies on that plus a hefty dose of honesty or truth bias wherein the fans believe everything they are told by Aptera's representatives.
