In all seriousness, it's not the most convenient way to do it in THIS scenario. Just say "Shoot" or "Capture" way easier. No idea why everyone is rambling about the s pen when that's superior in this use case

Thanks for the video Brent. I upgraded from an S 20 to the S 23 Ultra. I'm really excited to see your upcoming videos on photography with the S 23 Ultra. Hope your shoulder is doing better.
I was actually thinking about looking up your channel again to see if you did astrophotography yet with the s23, but didn't got around to doing it. I'm glad the youtube algorithm brought me here.
Thank you for the honest review, it’s good to know I don’t need to upgrade from my S22 Ultra in order to try out astrophotography. I had no idea my S22 Ultra even had that feature! I can’t wait to see what I can capture with it attached to my star tracker.
After watching your s22 ultra astro video two months ago, I was hoping for a follow-up witj the s23 ultra. And there we go! Thank you so much. I really like the calm and mindful style of your videos.
One thing that will help with the trailing stars is to use either a 2 or 5 second delay after you press the shutter to let the wiggle of the tripod settle down.
I was waiting for your video about the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Your knowledge makes the difference. I trust your opinion and I really like all of your comments. Thanks for another great video. I'll be waiting for the Milky Way video!
Would be interesting to compare S22/23 Ultra astrophotography side by side. I'm not sure if it's optimisation, but the new sensor is handling night skies a bit weird compared to the S22 Ultra.
From many other vides over seen, apparently infinite focus doesn't work well for the s23u, and some have changed it between 0.9-0.7 for focus, to get razor sharp stars.
Love the astrophotography videos, the main reason why I subbed a couple years back. I have the S21 ultra and love it and not planning to upgrade yet, however, astrophotography mode in expert raw isn't available "yet". But I hope samsung rolls out an update for the s21 ultra. Keep up the awesome video Brent, enjoy the cold weather, I'll send you some snow...😄
Heya...just upgraded to S23 Ultra from Note 10 Plus. I am an amateur astronomer who does not have a great scope or astrophoto equipment. Thanks for the vid, but can you summarize?😂 Looking forward to watching your other videos!
me looking at that strat behind u.. i wanna see how u would take a picture out in the dark (silhouette-esque) with a beam shooting out of the guitar straight up to the stars :D Cheers from Malaysia
Awesome episode! Other than you and Shayne Mostyn, there's not a lot of s23-U astrophotography on YT. I subbed, so i can see everything you do on this camera. I've got a xyz mount on order, and want to try my phone out on my dobsonian for some shots. Been waay cloudy up here in the PNW though
Thanks Jeff, I appreciate it! I definitely want to do a couple more astro type videos about the phone. Hopefully the weather and scheduling will cooperate.
I appreciate your time and expertise. I too live in NM and am seriously looking to using my s23 ultra for 90% of my photography needs ditching my a7r4 and all my lenses except for the 200-600!
Currently have the S22 standard single shot captures on the Night sky turns out alright .. As for the S23 i feel the Astro feature is a gimmicky because it's never ever going to rival DSLR/Mirrorless gear . .but for first timer they'll be pleased with whatever
Is it possible to record a video of me just standing and grass swaying in wind with bright starry sky as background like a silhouette with this device?
I took a couple of pictures with this mode. But I'm having trouble editing them. I couldn't upload them to the lightroom app on the phone. And I could upload it to luminar 4 on my pc but once I selected the pic to edit it turned into a pure black image. Can you only edit it on adobe Photoshop in PC or something?
@@salmansam-zj4vr I'm going to try the mobile version of Photoshop and see if it works there. I don't really want to pay for an adobe subscription. Edit: it didn't let me edit it 🥲 Well for now I'll probably settle for editing them on the Samsung gallery.
Thank you, Brent, for the video. I am looking forward to the upcoming ones. I've gone from a Note 10 plus to s23 ultra due to the note having to be repaired, therefore question the water resistance. Yet my main reason for s23 ultra is to start learning to take astrophotography, yes my first time. Apart from trial and error on my part, thank you for explaining some basics to me in the right direction. I'm using Lightroom basics that came with the phone, that is to say the unpaid version do you think that's enough to start with? Thanks again, Steven.
I can tell you have a vast knowledge and combined with your passion it was a treat to watch and even further it was very informative, thank you so much. P.s was wondering what is your opinion on the canon eos RA which is the one I'm using currently for astrophotography, much love .
Hey thanks, I really appreciate that! I think the RA is a great astro camera. Having the ability to pick up those reds from the H-alpha really opens up a bunch more DSS options. I wish I had one, though I might just send in my R6 to get a full spectrum mod at some point.
@@BrentHall I couldn't agree more, it was an eye opening for the first time seeing the Halpha coming through on the North America nebula in (cygnus) was one of the most exciting nights I had, I appreciate your perspective and I'm looking forward to your next video.
If I was going to use my phone, the iPhone 14 Pro would be my choice. The main sensor is 48mp so it's ready for prime time, maybe... In the S23 images, the sky appears to have more moisture than those captured in Nov with the S22.
I love watching your videos! they got me into astro pics, one question am wondering, i have s21 ultra and thinking to upgrade it, is it worth upgrading it to s23ultra? or can i jst get the s22 ultra? like is it worth the price difference in your opinion? or would pixel 7 pro do it?
I just tried using the astrophotography option.& it wouldn't let me change my ISO.& speed, they were automatically set at ISO 4,000.& Speed A 1/15. Do you have any idea why this may be? I haven't messed with any of the settings, only the things that you've mentioned in this video.
That's weird. If you're in pro mode then as soon as you change any of the settings it should override the auto and keep it in manual at whatever you set. If it doesn't do that, or you can't click the auto button and switch it to manual, then I have no idea what's wrong.
Unfortunately, I don't think that specific one is available anymore, but I do have links to the other tripods I use regularly, in the video descriptions.
I don't have that on my S23 Ultra....I have Single Take, Night, Food, Pro, Portrait, Photo, Video, Pro Video, Slow Mo, Super Slow Mo, hyperlapse, portrait video, and directors view...no expert raw
I have very little interest in using my android for my camera, but then again the best camera you have is the one that you have with you. But the short clip on star trails is amazing. i would love to see your expertise on how to do that with a regular camera, R5 or R6. Sorry if you have done one in the past and i have missed it.
