I’m in Penn foster…. But I’m studying on my own as well. I’m kind of getting exhausted applying with no experience. I’m not sure about the field anymore 😔
It’s not helpful that Penn Foster is basically paying extra money to study on your own and they don’t even find you an externship. That is why Preppy is hands down the best Sterile Processing training program.
I’ve graduated from Penn foster and studied on my own as well. It’s been a lot because I don’t have that experience. I don’t want to feel like I wasted my money and can’t get into the field
I just found out about this field. I want to go the self-study route. So i began to call the hospitals to see if they have externships, I haven't even started studying, but I wanted to know what hospitals to look to for my 400hrs hours, but from what ive noticed it seems as if trades schools have contracts with them to take their students in. They blantly told me. I still have yet to hear from some hospitals, but I fear that I may need to pay for a school.
Unfortunately, that is becoming the case nationwide. Hospitals do not want to take the time to train techs from scratch who have zero knowledge which is why they will only work with training/education schools for externships. School is probably going to be your only option. And if you want it 100% online, self-paced, cheaper and get a free laptop, then you should follow this link for Preppy: SterileTechnicianTraining.com/
Preppy is pricey the lowest option is $249 a month SMH I want to go with them due to their emphasis on help getting the 400 hours of Internship. Penn Foster is looking like my only option cause I want to get into the field
You get what you pay for. Going with that option you might as well just buy the book and study on your own because it’s a waste of money and that’s what will happen anyways.
I assume you’re referring to the CRCST. You definitely need the HSPA 9th edition manual. Also, if you want extra study materials the practice tests and flashcards is a great buy from the website here: thesterileguy.com/products/crcst-ultimate-bundle
It's getting harder and harder to get hired without experience! But if you want to get in fast then follow SterileTechnicianTraining.com
Just finished school and I’m still having a rough time and I’m certified! I definitely need a resume overhaul
Sorry to hear that! Sounds like you’d be a great addition to any team and ready to work.
@@thesterileguy I’ve landed a couple interviews for this week. Send good vibes please!
@@bruklinw1Hi did you get hired yet? Im having a hard time as well to get a job. I’ve been certified since August 2024

@thesterileguy If i were to get into the program, would they be able to get me an externship ? Especially in my state, California ?
Yes, absolutely!
If you complete an accredited program, would that help you get a job faster?
It will definitely help that’s for sure.
I am also getting First aid/CPR/AED and BLS certification before starting to apply!
That helps too especially if your facility requires it. Some actually don’t for SPD Techs which is weird.
I have seen it on some, not all but figured either way it’ll help my odds!

Hey Brandon, which spd guide book do you recommend I've taken the certification exam several times and failed
