How many years experience? Are you certified? Where are you located? Depending on those variables it could be a great offer, or meh.

Hello, I just got passed now with the help of Ben Who gave me the exact questions and answers which I got all on the day of my exam

It really pain after studying so hard I end up failing 😢 Honestly CIS test is really hard, I don't think I will ever pass this test

I finally passed today 💯🎉🙏 all thanks to Ben, he made it possible for me of all my repeat exam takers don't give up

Sounds like you had some difficult times. Where you live? That usually plays a big role in pay. And I agree, when a hospital is paying travelers so much more than their own technicians, it’s a big reason why there’s such high turnover rates. If they just paid their own technicians better, they wouldn’t have to pay out the ass for travel techs who can often cause more headaches with training than their actual use.

Hello. Depending on the version of test you get on test day you may come across questions concerning instruments since they do show up on the content outline. I’m not sure you’ll be shown pictures and asked to identify the instrument, but knowing the instruments and their specialties will be very helpful.

Luckily the job doesn’t require anything too fancy. But for a guy I would recommend slacks with a nice polo and for women slacks and nice blouse or dress.

I'm assuming you're referring to Indiana University Health? AST already enacted legislation in Indiana in 2010 monopolizing certification to only exist through NBSTSA which already requires two year accredited programs. 2025 won't change anything. AST and NBSTSA have been working together to try and monopolize as the only pathway to surgical technology because they want to capture all the money in the field of certification for surgical technology. It's gross and should be amended because monopolizing an industry violates American antitrust laws.

Yes. The only two certifying agencies are HSPA and CBSPD and neither require specific training except a documented 400 hours under specific duties if you go for the full CRCST.

@@sirensorceress93 Little bit tricky but here goes: CA has no accrediting issues. CT does currently, though there may be a loophole since their legislation also states "any other program" approved by department of health which could be more options. As far as MA, their legislation states any surgical technologist program accredited by NCCA, which the NCCT certification is. So basically CT is the uncertain at current time. The issue is the Association for Surgical Technology. They are in cahoots with NBSTSA and trying to get states to enact legislation that makes them the only source for surgical certification attempting to block out other certifying agencies "legally." It is a real shitty move and basically they are trying to monopolize the surgical technician certification arena by blocking out competition using state law. It's egregious. Not sure if any of that interests you but just so you have the details.

​@@thesterileguy it is so tricky figuring it out! Unfortunately most CST groups are saying they are voting to move them into associate's degree only programs because they believe it will up their wages but I don't think that will be the case. Hopefully it is a loud minority!

@@sirensorceress93 I've heard that argument too. Unfortunately, it will not convince thousands of hospitals to change their pay structures when they are already paying 2 year associate techs a current fair market wage. It is a pipe dream sold by NBSTSA and AST as a strategy to own the market because they are money and power hungry. It's all in the name of "degree vs certificate" as a ploy.

Are you asking what is the pass rate of the training? Or of the certification test after training?

Questions are multiple choice similar to the free CRCST practice exams on the website but with questions based off the information from the HSPA Leadership Manual. Mix of definitions, true/false, scenario based etc.
