I have been following this band for nearly 20 years since I first discovered them. As a lifelong Dirk fan, who only dreams of obtaining even a shred of his talent on drums, I adore Bastian for keeping up and keeping their sound alive. They only get better as the years ago by. Those ghost notes and ride rudiments had no business hitting that hard at 2:53. This is one of those drum tracks that melt your face off for sure. really hoping to see vultures.
I'd say the basic of the verse pattern is kind of a ride-driven variation of the "right hand lead" and goes like: RllRllrRLRllRllr | RllRllrRLRllRllr | ... R (hard) /r (soft) = right on the ride L (hard) /l (soft) = left on the snare + Rides more or less accompanied by the basedrum. This song is really a further development for the Soilwork sound and makes me excited for the album. Bastian does flawless work here.
