4K - AMT (exo) Commuter Train Action around Montreal in Summer 2018

  • Bonjour! This Summer, I went on a vacation to Montreal, in Quebec Canada. While I did catch a lot of Canadian Pacific and Canadian National freight train action, along with some VIA Corridor trains, my main objective was getting some passenger train action. I only had a few days, but I managed to get a lot of action in a short period of time!
Since 1997 the Agence métropolitaine de transport, otherwise commonly reffered to as the AMT, has been running commuter trains on their 6 different rail lines throughout the Montreal area. Earlier this year however, the RTM changed their branding of the AMT to "exo". Only a handful of coaches are currently repainted in their new (rather ugly and bland) paint scheme, and only a few locomotives have patches over the AMT name. Since I visited Montreal a few months back, I thankfully only caught 1 of their newly repainted coaches.
The AMT is known for their F59PH and F59PHI power, of which the "PH's" are secondhand from GO Transit. I focused the majority of my filming at the Montreal Ouest station, located on the mainline into Downtown Montreal. Tons of action here in the morning, trains every few minutes going in every single direction! Also threw in a few shots from other various locations throughout the Montreal area. You'll also see some action underneath the ground, in the form of the classic Montreal Metro subway system! This is one unique system, even running on rubber wheels!
    All locations listed in video.
    Thanks for watching!

Very surprised at how the F59PHs can handle 7-8 MLVs no problem, but NJT’s GP40s and F40s can handle only up to 4 MLVs; would be interesting if NJT/MNCW bought F59s for NJT’s diesel operations to supplement the Geeps. Super cool vid!

One lesser known thing about Exo is that a very small number of their equipment bears these rare, "unknown" form of E-Bells (I don't know exactly what they are) which cannot be heard anywhere outside of the Exo system. If you listen very closely in the clips of this video when F59PHIs 1321 and 1322 appear, you can hear them. In fact, apart from those two, the only other thing I know for sure bears this odd kind of bell is Single Level Cab Car 708.

@@ElevationStationProductions The problem is that in some cases on the exo network , the yard came AFTER the residential areas there build next to.
